Stockport, UK Borders Release Party

From Jenny a Borders UK employee,

I work at a Borders store in the UK, and I am trying to organise a Breaking Dawn/Twilight day on the 2nd August, at our store. We have been told that any events will have to be store organised, as not all stores are doing anything for the release.

We have also been informed today that there can be no BD midnight release parties in the UK, as we are not legally allowed to sell the book until 4.01am, due to embargo laws (and something to do with the US release being at 12.01am).

My manager has said, however, that we can open our store an hour early, and hold events through-out the day, as long as we can generate some interest. I know how popular Stephenie is in our store and locally, as she is pretty much our biggest selling author at the moment. But, I think my manager will need proof.

Would anyone be interested in a Breaking Dawn release day? I need some evidence (ie. print-out of comments etc…) to show that it would be a worthwile event for us.

I work at Borders in Stockport, which is close to Manchester, in the UK. I REALLY want to do something on the release day (as you can probably tell, I’m a crazy obsessed Twilight fan), and thought I’d ask you for help as you are the leading Twilight site, and have a lot of UK visitors.

Well UK Twilighters?  Are you interested?

Edit:  Jenny has created a facebook account for those interested in the release party.

Spoilers and Ads

This is an informational post.

Item #1:  There are several more signings this week for the Host and because of that we will be posting the Q&A’s from those signings, like we have done with every other signing Stephenie has had.  There will undoubtedly be spoiler type things in these Q&A’s.  If you haven’t read the book and don’t want to be spoiled it stands to reason that you shouldn’t read the Q&A from her Host signings.

A number of people put an enormous amount of work into compiling the signing reports.  We appreciate their efforts and applaud their service to the readers of this site.

Item #2:  Some of you have noticed a few inappropriate google ads popping up here and there.  The Google ads feed off of text posted on the Lexicon.  With the Host’s "love triangle", Google ads seem to interpreting that as well … well you can imagine.  Here is what you need to do when you see one of these ads:

1. Right click on the ad and copy the url of the ad picture.

2. Send the link to the picture url to the admin email address ([email protected]) with the subject heading of "Inappropriate Google Ad".

3. Alphie will then ban that ad.  But she can’t ban it unless she has that url.  So reporting that you saw one, unfortunately doesn’t do us any good unless we have that address.

Thank you for everyones help Lexiconers!  You guys rock!

In the News

A few articles were posted this weekend on Stephenie.

The Age from Australia (Shout out to our Aussie fans!) posted a lovely article on Stephenie here.

The Salt Lake Tribune adds to the Utah signing buzz.

The Journal News talks about the Stephenie Meyer phenomenon.

And Books on Board adds to the Host numbers announcing it as a #1 best selling ebook!

Stephenie on Salt Lake City Fox Affiliate

Stephenie was interviewed yesterday before her signing at Thanksgiving Point. In the first video she talks about The Host and the Twilight series. In the second video they covered the fan reaction. Among those interviewed was our very own Alphie.  The station is supposedly airing more footage on the 9:00 broadcast tonight.  Thanks to Dano for screaming from the computer to say it’s online (I’m staying at Dano’s house and then I posted it.)

EDITED: They added an additional video to the late new line-up that includes coverage of the Twilight movie. You can also see Salt Lake City Lexiconers in front of their banner made by Nena Cullen. TY to Alice Witlock.

Stand by for more footage coming soon!  (a soon as I upload it to YouTube).

Pel~

This just in….

Alphie and Pel have sent us a sneak peak at the Q&A from yesterdays signing  Please note that if you have not read the Host the first question is a SPOILER!

Q&A highlights from yesterday with full report and video to come:

Would Stephenie write The Host outtakes?  "Yes, she might write one covering Mel and Jared reuniting after Wanda is removed"

How does she feel about the movie? "Amazingly talented actors and Catherine Hardwicke is a genius."

What is in her writing future? " She’s going to do her tour with Breaking Dawn and then in 2009 she is taking a year off. She’ll still write but she’s not sure what yet. She needs a break. She not sure if she’ll write sequels to the Host. She has it outlined as a trilogy. She has the prologue and epilogue written of the second and third books, but she is not decided yet.  As for her Twilight characters Breaking Dawn is definitely the end of Bella’s story arc and the last book Bella will narrate. She may however revisit the Twilight Universe in the future, just not right away.

So check back in for more updates.  Alphie is attending a second signing today and she is armed with video cameras to capture all the exciting action.

Stephenie on Good Things Utah

Stephenie was on Good Things Utah yesterday.  She talks about the movie, Twilight, and future books.  There is an article as well as a video on the right hand side.

"Is this truly the final book?" asked Good Things Utah host, Nicea DeGering.  To which Meyer answered, "It is the final book from Bella’s perspective."

Stayed tuned for more from Utah including an update from Alphie and Pel on all their incredible adventures!!

Rachelle and a Robert Pattinson Interview

We want to send our congratulations off to Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) who’s reoccurring role ended this week on Boston Legal.  You can see Rachelle this May in the film Fugitive Pieces(Please note this film is rated R.)   She is an amazing talent and we wish her all the best in her career.  To read our interview with Rachelle click here.

Also the amazingly talented December from our message boards has unearthed a hysterical interview with Robert Pattinson early on in his career.  It’s a wonderful read and gives you a glimpse into the humor behind those garish good looks.

Pattinson’s role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has been garnering standout notices, although he bridles, with endearing embarrassment, at the label ‘heart-throb’. ‘I read the Variety review and their only comment was "rangy". I thought it meant from the range, like a cowboy. But it just means tall and lanky.’

The Official Twilight Youtube Channel has added the Teaser trailer to its video log.  Be sure to subscribe to that channel to get the latest updates.  We are getting many reports that the Twilight teaser trailer is poping up on movies all over the country.  So you may be in for a treat the next time you head off to the box office.

Our beloved Mike/Mike Updated his blog on myspace.  And so did Christian Serratos (Angela), keep checking back to Christian’s page for photos she took behind the scenes during filming!
