Christian Marie Serratos was born on September 21, 1990 in Pasadena, California. Her mother’s earlier path in acting influenced her, and as a young child she would practice by reciting lines from television for her family. She began modeling at age seven with Ford Modeling Agency and just a year later broke into the world of acting and commercials.

In her career thus far, Christian has already been successful in a number of acting roles. In 2004, she landed a starring role of Jillian in the independent film Mrs. Marshall. Since then she has made appearances on a number of television shows including Zoey 101, 7th Heaven, Hannah Montana, and Miss Guided. She also had a co-starring role Cow Belles, a Disney Channel Original Movie that aired in 2006. Currently, she is best known for her recurring role on the Nickelodeon show Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, which ran for three successful seasons, as Ned’s crush “Susie Crabgrass”. She was nominated by the Young Artist Awards for Best Performance in a TV Series for a Recurring Young Actress for that role in 2008. In addition to her roles on film and television, she shot a “Healthy Pets ACT” video for PETA TV along with several other actors and actresses.

Outside of acting, she enjoys competitive figure skating, horseback riding, shopping, and dance, of which she is trained in ballet, hip-hop, and jazz. She also likes spending time with her friends, playing with her miniature poodle dogs, and watching both new and old movies. Her favorites currently are Tristan and Isolde, the Little Princess, Practical Magic, and The House of Yes. In addition, Christian is very passionate about music. She is a talented singer, and has recently been working on a pop/rock album. Her song “Why are Boys Like That” is available for downloading now on her myspace page. Besides singing, she enjoys listening to the music of Queen, Fiona Apple, Christina Aguilara, Regina Spektor, Sublime, No Doubt, Roisin Murphy, and Linda Perry.

On February 21st, 2008 it was confirmed that Christian will be playing Angela Webber, one of Bella Swan’s first friends she meets in Forks, in the Twilight Movie. Happy Birthday Edward

Our very favorite vampire turns 107 today, and still doesn’t look a day over 17.  Thanks to everyone who joined in to tell us what they loved about Edward.  We had well over 1,000 responses to choose from. We took some of the most unique responses and/or people who put a new spin on things like dazzling.  Fans responded from around the world: Singapore, France, Argentina, South Africa, England, Spain, Germany, Israel, etc. I think we have responses from every continent but Antarctica.

We put all the top 107 responses in PDF format so people could print it out if they wanted.

Make sure you come and celebrate on the forum. You never know who might stop by.

Also, a big thank you to Your Brand of Heroin & GiantPinkFlamingos of Vesperarium for our happy birthday banner.

Twilight Summer School First Edition

Pel had this idea a few weeks ago that we should do a piece on Twilight being used in the classroom. Being a teacher, I was very excited about this idea so much so that I asked to be the point person on it. I started off this project like any other, making an announcement on the front page asking for your stories. I figured I would receive two types of stories: ones from teachers and ones from students. I even created labels so I could remember which story was which as I sorted through them all. I soon realized that two labels were not enough.

Not only had teachers and students written in, but so had librarians, school secretaries, parents, college professors, college students at all levels, and community outreach workers as well.   The diversity of people using Twilight for educational purposes was surprising.

I had never thought about using Twilight to teach ESL Parents about literary elements so they could understand what their students were learning or creating Twilight Tournaments to coincide with Teen Read week. The stories sent are both inspirational and funny. Twilight has been a proven tool in the classroom whether your teaching kids about point of view, using it in an ESL class, or tempting the non-readers with a 500+ page book that they can’t put down.

Over the summer we will be featuring the stories from teachers, students and everyone in between.   Each week there will be stories and sometimes artwork that was inspired by Twilight in the classroom.
