Michael welch to play Mike Newton

The Hollywood Reporter (printed edition) has announced that Michael Welch will be playing Mike Newton.  Unfortuantely the article is only available in the print version so we can not host it here. Links to Michael’s Website and his IMDb page.  Recently Michael has been in Joan of Arcadia and the film Lost Dream.  We will update with any new information as soon as we get it.  Thanks to jennalou for sending in this information!!

And just as a heads up, with all the information coming out about the film and the books, we have to ask that you do not copy our posts word for word and put them on your website.  Certainly report the information as it comes to you, but use your own words.  That should go for any news you read about from any website.  Always put the info in your own words and give a link back to the source.

Stephenie in USA Weekend, and casting recap

Thanks to the multiple people who brought this up (Sorry we can’t post issue scans, or we’d be in copyright violation.). There is a small blurb about Stephenie, the Twilight Saga, and The Host in USA Today Weekend.

Also just to recap the casting news of the week this is what we know so far(Again this doesn’t mean that the other parts aren’t cast, just we haven;t had that info released from an official source yet.):

  1. Filming begins this week in a variety of locations from Arizona to the Pacific Northwest.
  2. We know who is playing the following roles because either Summit or the actors’ management companies have released this information:

Bella:         Kristen Stewart
Edward:     Robert Pattinson
Eric:          Justin Chon
Jessica:    Anna Kendrick
James:    Cam Gigandet

In case you want a visual representation of each actor side-by-side, this is what they look like (I saw them in TwilightObsessed’s banner and asked if I could repost it.)

We also added a search feature to the top of the site, hopefully it works. It’s our first time trying somethng like this.

boards reopened

We have just reopened the message boards. We may have to close later in the week, but we’ll try to give you notice.  We continue to have trouble with registering gmail users. Gmail users are recommended to get a different email to use in the registration process.

Movie release date

Right now Stephenie Meyer’s site is reporting that they have a new server (Welcome to the upgrade your server club, Seth. We understand your pain!) because, "So, hypothetically speaking, if we were to announce several of the actors that are part of the cast of Twilight the movie in the next few days, there shouldn’t be any problems with getting on the site and viewing their official photos."  Now I don’t know about the rest of you, but that sounds like a "So be sure to check the RSS feed" to me!

Also, on the Breaking Dawn press release page (thanks to multiple people who pointed this out) they are referring to December 12, 2008 (yes we know that is 10 months after filming begins and yes it seems like a really short turn around time to us too) as the release date of the film.  This has also been up on the IMDB for awhile. Before anyone plans a a movie get together give it a couple of months. Past experience in with the Harry Potter movies has proven that sometimes for various PR reasons they change release dates by a week or two.  Usually things stabilize around four to five months ahead of time, but studios can decide to change dates for any number of reasons.

Lastly since there seem to be two major questions of the hour (at least it’s what is taking over our inbox), here is my two cents:

Question: Are you guys worried that they are adding other characters?

Answer: "No one knows the names of the other guys on the police force but obviously they exist. I’m sure there are even more than 10 named students attending Forks HS, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the town gas station attendant where Bella gases her truck has a name.

Movies are a visual medium. They need to add/delete characters for Bella to talk to to advance the plot. The whole movie can’t be a voice over happening in Bella’s head.

The added characters (so far a waitress and a guy on the force) seem to be minor roles that will advance the plot."

Question: "What about them changing the name of the Bio teacher, or changing the ethnicity of Bella’s classmates? Isn’t this going to ruin the movie?"

Answer: "I’m not really following the logic here. The bio teacher being a bit of a "tree hugger"  and Bella’s friends being multicultural significantly changes the Bella/Edward romance/mystique storyline how exactly? "

And yes, we still are getting e-mails from people who seem to think we are Stephenie Meyer, that we can cast them, and/or that Stephenie Meyer controls the casting of this movie.

Cam Gigandet Cast in Twilight!!…as James

The Hollywood Reporter printed an article stating the Cam has been cast in Twilight but no role was mentioned in the release, but we have it from what we believe to be a credible source that it is James. (the info is at the bottom of the article)  He is probably best known for his role in The OC.  Here is his IMDb page.  As soon as we get more information on his role we will let you know.

EDITED: We now have it from a credible source that Cam will be James.  Also, for everyone’s security, please no posting of phone numbers!!! We will delete them if we see them.

Incidentally since this will no doubt come up. Lomesir discovered that his last name is pronounced: Jhee-dant-ay

Even More Movie news!!!!!!!

OK after all the speculation it seems that Justin Chon will be playing the role of Eric Yorkie and announced earlier this evening Anna Kendrick will be playing the role of Jessica.  All the information can be found here MTV Blogspot.  There is also another article here.   For those of you interested on getting information Justin Chon here is his Myspace Page.  Also here is Anna Kendrick’s IMDb page.  A big thank you to Sillybella for hunting down all this info, and all the others who PMed.

Of course in true Murphy’s Law style all this news is breaking when the mods are really busy. Just to let you know we are working on things, and we hope the boards with be back on Monday. Thank you everyone for your understanding and patience as we move things.

Lots of news!!!

We found this on the Twilight Saga site and thought we should pass it on to all of you.

"The ECLIPSE special edition is on the way – featuring an excerpt of BREAKING DAWN and the first look at the cover!  It will be avaliable at 12:01 Saturday, May 31, along with the paperback of NEW MOON!

So there you have it folks.  Our first look at the story AND the cover for BD.

Also, in movie news, Shock Till You Drop is announcing that Justin Chon from Just Jordan has been cast in the film.  There are no details as to who he will be playing but we will late you know once we find out.  Lots of thanks to Cocoa for the heads up on both of these stories.  You can also find the information on Variety (who broke the story). It seems as if it was an announcement from Justin’s management and not Summit because Justin’s name and not the the film company nor the movie title were prominent in the release.

And in personal news, as many of you all ready know from live journal, I am getting a divorce.  We have to do lots of changes to the site for this reason, none of which should be noticable to you on your end.  It’s all maintenance and server changes and what not.  Also, the e-mail address for the lexicon must change.  Thus, if you send anything to the current address, know that it may never be answered.  If you need to contact someone, PM one of the mods. You can also e-mail us at: [email protected].  My life is quite upside down right now, so start with any of the mods first for your issues before you come to me.  Lots of the questions that come my way can be answered by any of the mods… and even just a lot of the general users!  So hang with me as we go through this massive change.

Breaking Dawn Release Date Announced

As promised, we were given the release date of Breaking Dawn.  AUGUST 2, 2008 So, now is the time to approach your local booksellers about them doing a midnight release party.

We also will be designing a special limited edition Lexiconer shirt (just like we did with E-prom) so that Lexiconers can find each other at release events.

EDITED: I forgot to add that a portion of a chapter (note they didn’t say which) will be posted on Stephenie’s site in May.

Breaking Dawn Release date to be announced tomorrow

According to Seth the webmaster of Stephenie’s official site,

"Also, the release date for Breaking Dawn (the fourth book in the Twilight series) will be announced at 12:01am EST on February 7th. I don’t promise to have the site updated in that exact minute, but when you wake up on Thursday morning you will be able to find the release date and information about pre-ordering Breaking Dawn on this page or on the RSS feed. So, you can consider this an announcement about an announcement. Don’t forget to check back in a couple of days!"

Maintenance

I know this will come as a wild surprise to our regular readers, but we are going to be moving the Lexicon’s server host again. Yes, I have lost count how many times this makes this. In any case, tonight through the rest of the week, expect the Lexicon to be unavailable at given points. We may lock off the forums early as a precaution.
