More Collider Coverage from the Press Junket

Collider, who was the first to bring you the new footage released on the press junket, has a series of stunning interviews with:

Rob  Pattinson

"Actually, I was in New York doing a radio interview and they people sending in messages. Ninety five percent of the messages were saying, ‘Take your hat off.’ I was just like, ‘Okay.’ When people say something has become a trademark you have got to get rid of it. It’s the worse."

Kristen  Stewart

Stewart: I was ready to follow it for as long it decided to go. I would love to do the second, third and fourth. Again, it was that initial responsibility. I can only do a movie if I feel entirely compelled to it or else in every frame I’m just going to look confused…."

Catherine Hardwicke

"Actually, I have been working on the DVD already.  So we put together all the deleted scenes and extended scenes, there’s quite a few, like 12 or something like that.  And then I made some montages of some other crazy elements, like more vampire kiss, biting.  And more human hijinks.  And I made a pretty wild music video, like a remix of Bella’s Lullaby and I did some pretty trippy things that you may like."

Twilight Sizzles on Collider

Steve on Collider just got back from the major PR Twilight junket that went on this weekend and he has lots of goodies to share, including his sizzle reels and the EPK (electronic press kit) footage . This is pretty much the best footage we’ve seen so far that from the looks of it gives a glimpse into just about everyone in the cast.

Hot Topic Tour Starts Monday

Starting Monday, after a long weekend media junket, the Twilight cast hits the road on the Hot Topic Store Tour.

Now wanting the scoop on how this all was going to work at the Hot Topic store near me I decided to ask what the process was for getting wristbands etc. I definitely recommend that everyone intending on going to a tour appearance do this, because procedure is going to vary site to site.

So anyway, I went down to the Hot Topic store in Paramus, NJ where Kristen was going to be and I encountered a very enthusiastic employee named Larence. Super guy, scores a 10 on the friendly and helpful scale.  Seriously, the guy was uber enthusiastic, but not in an annoying way, and very nice to someone who clearly was not his usual store demographic. He helped me find the Twilight sweatshirt in the size I wanted (this was the first Hot Topic store not to have only XS and S in stock). We had a great conversation about Rob and Kristen and how Larence was totally getting into Twilight.

So Larence told me which entrance to the mall was opening early (like way early), the time they would begin handing out the wrist bands, and how this was all going to work in a pretty narrow store.  Larence then says that he’s imagining lots of moms lined up for their daughters. I said, well there’s going to be a bunch lined up for themselves, and that this is really popular with people of all ages. He then tells me that he’s just starting to realize this.

Then we got to the funny part. All of a sudden Larence says to me, "You know there are a lot of Twilight sites online." My husband, who was standing next to me starts to smirk. (triggering subtle ankle kick from me) I said, "Well actually I happen to have one of those, and yes there are quite a few of them."  Larence looked at me a little funny, but then we kept up our conversation on how the process for Kristen’s visit would go. He then says, "Oh, remember that when you come back with your son or daughter that each person who wants an autograph needs a writstband." At that point my husband is now trying not too successfully to supress his laughter, and says "Oh no, this is for her."  Again, Larence looks at me oddly (Like I said, I’m obviously not his usual demographic, at least he didn’t call me mam.) But I smiled and thanked him for the info and said I’d look for him when I came back.

So, if you happen to be by the Paramus Hot Topic, say hi to Larence (tell him about the Lexicon because I think, he thinks I was kidding when I said I had a Twilight site) who will give you the whole scoop specific to that store. You can find the general procedures here.

MTV’s Spoiler’s A Fan’s View

Here is Michelle’s report. She attended the MTV Spoiler taping last night, there are actually (not major) but spoilers for the movie discussed so we put it in a scroll box spoiler font because the scroll box refuses to cooperate so no one innocently stumbles on what they don’t want to know. TY to Michelle for sharing the experience.

I just got back from the taping. I have to say, the clips they showed us were AMAZING! Everyone in the theater went insane! The whole cast was there, but Rob and Kristen introduced the clips they showed us. By the way, I can finally put a face to the voice of Larry Carrol after so many Twilight Tuesdays!   On the Larry Carroll recap, I was the one wearing the Bite Me t-shirt [from the twilightteez.com store!] and I got to ask a question to Catherine. I was the first one with a question so I’ll be on tv [hopefully!]

As for the clips (highlight to read the rest), it had to have lasted around half and hour. They repeated a couple of clips, but some were new. Now for the clips- we saw the ballet studio scene again, the first appearance of the Cullens [from the Rome Film Festival], the cafeteria scene again, AND we saw when Bella wakes up to find Edward on her bed and its when he says "I want to try something…" [OMG THAT SCENE IS WAY TOO INTENSE!], we also saw when Bella introduces Edward to Charlie for the first time [Charlie was cleaning his shotgun…. so funny!!], and pretty much an extended version of the last trailer. This last part, it had added the complete parking lot crash at school- we saw how Bella confronted Edward and asked how he saved her [GOSH his intense eyes!!!].

I was actually the first person with a question for the Q & A- just for reference, I thought the camerawork for the film is a little sloppy… too documentary-like, and Catherine said she wanted an "intimate" feeling, but I still felt it’s sloppy and awkward. It’s up to everyone to watch it and judge!  The cast that stayed for the Q & A was Taylor, Kellan, Ashley, Jackson, Peter, Edi, and Larry Carroll! haha! Nikki, Rob, and Kristen, like I said, only stayed for the introduction of the clips then left.

Just have to say, Ashley Greene, SO BEAUTIFUL! Well, honestly, they ALL are gorgeous! Jackson had a little emo-ish hair, but it looked really good on him! Kellan, come on, ALWAYS looks good [actually started unbuttoning his shirt for some screams 🙂 ]. Taylor kissed a fan on the cheek [you’ll see how it goes down!], but in general, the whole cast was humble and just as excited to see us as we were to see them. Oh! Kellan said we’re really really really going to love the baseball scene! He said there is some really good special effects and to try and keep an eye on how the ball moves!

Overall, it was an amazing experience to watch the scenes with all these other fans, screaming our heads off, and had a great time rocking our Twilight clothing and just have fun! When Larry first came out, we ALL yelled, "THANK YOU LARRY!!!" and yelled that again at the end haha! He made a really funny Twilight pun, I hope they put it in the episode [he said "I know Twilight is going to him you all like how Tyler’s car hit Bella!" hahaha… so silly].   I can’t express in words how I felt before, during, and after the screening… I can’t wait until the movie comes out!

Contest reminder

Remember that November 16 is the deadline for video submissions for the Twilight Ultimate fan contest sponsored by Summit and various fansites. The prize for the winners is access to an exclusive online chat with director Catherine Hardwicke.

Length:     No minimum time, but max three minutes.

Submission:    Video uploaded to YouTube, Photobucket, MSN video, or DVD mailed in.

Style:         It can be live action or a series of photos and captions strung together using Movie Maker or similar program.

Important Fine Print:

  1. One video per person/email address.  So if your family has one email address and more than one person in your house wants to enter, now would be a good time to open a new email account.
  2. You have to be 13 or older.  Yes, we know it sucks, but US contest law as it applies in this type of contest is something we have no control over.
  3. Only one person can appear in the video. So even if your baby cousin Samantha is adorable, if she’s sitting on your lap during the video, she is in fact another person. This would disqualify your video. So make sure you are in it solo, or if you desperately need moral support, grab fluffy the cat and not another human.
  4. Do not incorporate "…ANY MATERIAL OR ELEMENTS THAT ARE NOT OWNED BY THE CONTESTANT AND/OR WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO THE RIGHTS OF THIRD PARTIES, THE ENTRANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING, PRIOR TO SUBMISSION OF THE ENTRY…" in other words, even if you are sure to wow Simon, Paula, and Randy on the next AI, unless you have an up close and personal relationship with Paramore where the band grants you the rights to perform your own version of Decode, you can’t include stuff that is copyrighted by someone else. You can sing original stuff, not someone elses.
  5. Send your contact information in with the entry. Your complete contact information is as follows: your name, address, city, state, zip code, daytime telephone number, e-mail address and age to: [email protected] (if you are submitting via email) or The Twilight Lexicon, Box 396, 759 Bloomfield Ave., West Caldwell, NJ 07006(If you are submitting a DVD by mail.)

So What Should you focus on?

Be your enthusiastic self. The entries are judged on:

40% Creativity/Originality displayed

30% Display of entrant’s knowledge of the motion picture and book “Twilight”

30% Devotion to the motion picture and book “Twilight” demonstrated

REMEMBER ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 11:59 PM PT ON 11/16/08.

Excerpt from Rob’s interview:

What was your impression of the books at first?
Well, I obviously really liked them, but it is always strange reading a book knowing that I am hopefully going to play the part. It’s read in a very different context.
