Posted by Twilight_News_Updates - 26/02/08 at 09:02 am

We all saw the clip of Emily and Whoopi discussing Twilight on The View.  Now Emily has reviewed Twilight for Cosmogirl.  The review is great and Emily seems to enjoy the books as much as we all do!

Please remeber to keep your comments appropriate.

Glad she commented on the books, but she could have been a little more eloquent (for lack of a better word) with her writing. I guess the fan base is really growing, but sometimes I think it was cool when we were just a small group of Twilight lovers.

  • lee says:

emily is such a sweet girl. I liked what she said in the article.
I agree with her too. Always read the book first, then see the movie.

  • just another... says:

i agree with SSprincess…it was more cool when it was just a small group of twilight lovers and when the book wasn’t so famous…

  • Cocoa says:

She is a 16 year old girl sharing her love of a book with her fan base, back off. Good lord, its a wonder why the Twilight fandom is getting a bad name. And I swear If this turns into another bash Hannah Montana fest we’ll turn off the comments.

  • Bella_twilight says:

Yea, I agree… but it was bound to get big in the end… :( It’s kind of weird that celebs read the same book as us average people… thats hard to imagine… Now all those CosmoGirls will start reading Twilight… Now thats ODD

  • Bella_twilight says:

But don’t get me wrong, I think it’s cool that she likes it!!!

  • admin says:

Just remember we should all be happy for Stephenie and her success. Plus if it weren’t popular we wouldn’t have a movie.

  • Kate says:

I agree with whoever said that its no wonder the Twilight fandom has a bad name. Some of the words and actions happening have really been bothering me lately

I think we should be glad its as big as it is. Unfortuantly in the entertainment business nothing really gets accomplished for small niche fandoms. So be glad that we have what we do.

  • Courtney says:

i agree with the small fan base…its always cool to have the “i know something you dont know!” thing going on…I caught on kinda late…but, it was much more fun when my friends didnt read it…haha…i had one friend who read it before me…and then i guess i talked about it too much and now ALL my friends like it…and I have competition for dibs on Edward w/in my firends…haha…but, im glad that Stephenie is getting the recognition from the world that she deserves these are truly great books…the best ive ever read!

  • just another... says:

don’t get me wrong,i’m really glad for stephenie and her success… i’m just saying that sometimes I remember how it was at the beginning…when twilight wasn’t so popular… but that doesn’t mean i don’t like the fact that it’s popularity is growing…stephenie deserves that…

  • Amy says:

I feel that her article was perfect she a cute girl on a show that I’m sure many kids watch, and I’m proud that she is encouraging and inspiring other kids to read.

  • Emilly (em's_twilight) says:

I didnt really like the way she described the book… it was kinda fake… i dont know why but i just got that vibe… its good that she likes it and all but i dont know…. maybe im just being overcritical :/
Oh well im miss the days where Twilight was just a book id herd about here and there… but these days i see girls and some guys walking down the halls at my school with one of the books held tightly to there chest like it was gold… ha ha!

Im happy for Stephenie and her success, but do i dare say sometimes…….. i wish the movie wasnt being made…….
BUT dont get me wrong i am really excited that they are!!! but sometimes i wonder…… :(

  • Sirena Red says:

I read this cosmo article the other day! I am glad she wrote that she recommends reading the book before the movie. I agree. It just wouldn’t be the same because the book is told from Bellas mind and all her emotions along with the story.
I hope they are able to display it in the movie as well. but i know it is harder to do that. so it is definantly a must to read the books first. Even though we all KOW the movie is going to be AMAZING it’s just not the same as how descriptive the books makes you see and feel all what the characters are going through and there pain and all there different emotions! they have.

  • QUEENCROWN says:

Cool. It’s another reminder that shes a normal teenage girl who gushes about a favorite (and totally awesome) book!!

I’m really scared about the movie. It’s either going to be awesome or stupid. I’m leaning more towards – more like on – awesome!! I’m so excited. My friend Sam, she’s not much of a reader but I’m always like “read the books!” and she said to me today, “I’ll see the movie” but if the movie sucks, then shell be like, “Why is she obsessing over something so stupid?!?” when it totally 100% isn’t.

    Sigh…on to my project….

  • Kristen and Melissa says:

i can’t reach the cosmo girl page thingy :[

Kristen: i don’t know what you all are talking about.
if she likes the books then don’t be MEAN.

    Melissa: yeah.
i totally saw her interview thing on the view and she doesn’t seem fake about liking the books. but she is definitely not as obsessed as some of us though.

  • rapid_reader says:

Cocoa, you are right. Why are we all saying that we want Twilight to be a little known book? I think that everyone desirves a chance to read a really great book and we should be wanting people to know about us. Stephenie desirves this attention and I’m so happy that Emily Osment loves Twilight. The Lex will have so many new users after the Twilight movie comes out and we’ll have new pov’s.

  • Cora says:

This is the second time it has been in there. I’m guessing it would be like a year and a half now. But they had a very little little thing in there for good books to read over the summer. It was just after or before New Moon came out and they had New Moon and Twilight there. Just a small thing on the bottem of the page. I saw that and thought that it looked good and was like “I’ll look for it the next time I’m in the book store.” I ended up finding Twilight at walmart that Dec. while waiting to copy some picuters for chirstmas cards. So it is neat to see them doing something bigger for it. And I think she did a good job on it.

  • Sumeiyeh says:

I think it was very nice of Emily Osment, and I don’t think it was fake in any way. She clearly likes and get’s the book, and is as excited about the movie and Breaking Dawn as any of the other fans of the series. I think it’s great that the series is getting more recognition. I’m just happy that the books are getting positive feedback from people like Whoopi Goldberg and Emily Osment, so that people might read the books and enjoy them. I’m already trying to get another friend to read Twilight, and give Eclipse to another.

  • Ann says:

I’m glad that she is out there encouraging people to read the books and not just wait for the movie! And I totally know what she means about getting way attached to the characters!

  • lee says:

    Fellow Lexiconers,

WHY DO WE HAVE TO CRITICIZE?

LET’S JUST STICK TO SHARING AND SUPPORTING OUR LOVE FOR THE BOOKS AND THE MOVIE!!

ALLOW EMILY TO JOIN US IN DOING THIS. SHE IS JUST LIKE US, IN THE FACT THAT WE ALL LOVE THE TWILIGHT SERIES!!

  • i totally love emily osmett she is just a total hottie

  • Shannon says:

    How adorable.

I can stand “Hannah Montana” and the Disney empire, but I must say, I love that someone who is young and impressionable and has a strong fan-base is using her popularity and celebrity status to encourage others to read. I saw her on “The View” and thought it was great that she had Whoopi behind her to endorse the books.

    Yay Emily.

  • Ashley says:

I think it’s fantastical that the Twilight series is getting recognition by celebrities. All the publicity it’s getting is amazing. Who knows, maybe eventually it will be so huge that they’ll make Edward Cullen action figures.

  • alice cullen says:

omg i am so happy that other people are starting to like no wait love twilight just as much as he rest of us. i mean wow just the fact that some one from “Hannah Montana” reads twilight is again wow. do you think that the Jonas Brother read twilight. that would be totaly omg.

  • d bert says:

Some one loves the books as much as I do…

Why would I have anything negative to comment…that is just silly talk?

Lets share the love and happiness… now more people will read the books and be fans too… which means she’ll write more books…

    Yeahhhhh…. Emily :-)

  • stina says:

great text, I specially like the ending, “be careful with whom you fall in love.”

  • *Twilight* says:

This is cool I guess. I agree with Stina I like the ending of the article it made me lol. =)

  • Leah says:

Let’s just hope that Miley Cyrus doesn’t read it because if she does then Twilight is officially mainstream.

  • Cocoa says:

I hate to burst your bubble, but all three books are New York Times number one best sellers. They have been main stream for along time now.

  • twilightlove says:

Why in the world would you want it to stay a small fanbase haah that’s greedy. Think about Stephenie i’m happy that it’s so big and popular she put alot of hard work into these book s for 1000000s of people to buy not jsut a couple. I think Emily is really nice and I do like the disney channel but it’s awsome that it’s getting good publicity.

  • Morgan. says:

I enjoy that she is loves Twilight as much as we do, and that she is making as Twilight more popular. But it I just hope that her fans read it and hate, and do trash talk about it. That will upset me in a big way.

  • Morgan. says:

I enjpy that she is loves Twilight as much as we do, and that she is making as Twilight more popular. But it I just hope that her fans read it and hate, and do trash talk about it. That will upset me in a big way.

  • B Cullen says:

I don’t think it matters if its mainstream or not, as long as SM delivers great books that people love. I think it’s kind of cool to relate to so many people cause of this book. The review was good but I’ve read more enthusuastic. I want to read Whoopi’s review on Twilight, now that would be good!

  • BEE says:

I liked the article but I wish she hadn’t said bella was unoriginal. I think that wasn’t quite accurate. But other than that it was good.
    Sorry but that bothered me.

  • SSprincess says:

In response to some people who think I was “bash[ing]” the article, I wasn’t. Anthing that gets more people to read is a good thing. I just looked at the article from an English teacher’s perspective and I think a 16 yr. old girl should have better writing skills.

  • B Cullen says:

I agree, but nonetheless we shouldn’t criticize her, when some people on her can’t even spell the actors’ names right.

  • B Cullen says:

Wait, if SM and Twilight were to have a smaller fanbase then no movie… that doesn’t sound so bad right now.

  • SSprincess says:

Just another clarification..I am very happy for Stephenie and her success. Someimes though its nice to be in on something small. Yes, I am happy about the TW movie, but in my heart the books will always be better (just as, in my opinion, HP is). I always though the Lex is where we could share differences of opinion. By the way, I’ve never even heard of the girl who wrote the article so I don’t have anything bad to say about her. I was simply sharing my adult opinion.

  • Pineappl92 says:

That was a great review. I’m glad that even famous people who aren’t in the movie even read the books :D

  • *french*fan*from*paris! says:

I’m very happy for stephenie and her success, too… but… i agree with “b cullen”… if there wasn’t so many fans… bye, bye movie! believe me, that doesn’t sound bad at all right now… i’m a bit scared about that movie… Gosh, if it turns bad… i don’t know… it will be a total disaster…. well, i hope it won’t!

    love from Paris!

  • Lauren says:

Sorry, but Twilight isn’t my TOP book.

  • mdiz says:

im soo scared for the movie! i might not even watch it. i read gossipgirl, loved the books and the show totally ruined it for me. same thing happend with Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants when they made it into a movie. but i cant help my curiosity with the movie. And on that whole fandom note; who honestly cares if its so big? you should be happy for all the sucsess its had!

  • bellabonany says:

Who wants to be careful with whom they fall in love with if it’s Edward?? I am happy that Emily Osment likes the books and that she would love to share. I did like the whole “I know something you don’t know”, but I really am glad that it is getting so widespread. Yay Emily!!!
    Kudos!!

  • Danielle says:

I Love Emily and I LOVE Hannah Montana and I think it’s great that Twilight is getting such great recognition. And I thought her review was cute and positive which is what we should all hope for from a celebrity that so many young girls look up to.

  • Babyfairy2287 says:

Well I appreciate her enthusiasm about the book and I remember being super excited when a guest (being her) on The View mentioned the book (I was watching live hehe). But…my biggest *pout* moment comes from her calling Bella “unoriginal.” That kinda made me feel sad…cause I feel like part of why Bella is different from all the other kids is cause she is so original! I don’t know…just sharing my thoughts. :-) I think it’s cool that cosmo girl is running a review of the book though!!

  • isabella says:

SSprincess is right!!! I think I got Twilight when it first came out from a Scholastic book order thing. And the only reason I got it was because of the page number. When I read the two sentence description, I was like…great. Another book on vampires. But then I started reading it…and couldn’t stop…I read to like past midnight and passed out in my chair!!! And when I bought it, it didn’t even say New York Times Bestseller yet on the cover!!!!

  • helen says:

People saying that they are disappointed that this book is now “mainstream” is about as stupid as people saying that it sucks that their favorite band is now well known. If people deserve the credit and praise, we should give it to them wholeheartedly, and not complain that everybody knows about it now.

  • Crystalx says:

I LOVED the movie version of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I saw it my junior year of high school, and had read the book in 7th grade, so i had forgotten details, but the plot was mainly the same. It was pretty…it was girly…it was as good as it could’ve been. It even had some emotional narration.

(Do you suppose Twilight will have some of that? Like in the movie Speak?)

However, when I saw the movie “How to Deal” based off two Sarah Dessen books, I just kept fixing stuff in my head and saying,”No! That did not happen!” That movie disappointed me. And don’t even get me started on “Blood and chocolate.” i read the book when i was 12 (i’m 19 now) and 15 minutes into the movie version of it I was bored out of my mind. bleh.

I haven’t reread my Twilight book since last summer, so my details may be lacking, but i don’t want to reread it before the movie comes out, because then i’ll do what i did with “how to deal.” I’ll mentally fix things and be pissed off about it.

    But i want magic.
