Personal History: Harry is a tribal elder along with Billy Black and Old Quil Ateara. He and his family are participants of the Speghetti dinner Bella enjoys at Jacob’s house. That night, his wife Sue "teased her husband about his cholesterol and tried, unsuccessfully, to shame him into eating something green and leafy." (NM6)
Harry also seems to be, in various parts of New Moon, a convenient person for Bella to shove Charlie off on, given their mutual love for fishing (NM7) as well as someone with connections to the Black family that Bella can try to get information from (NM10). While Bella is using Charlie to get information out of Harry about Jacob, Charlie learns that Harry has been having more trouble with his heart, but Harry jokes about it until Charlie is laughing about it, too. When Bella finally learns the truth about Jacob’s wolfishness, it’s Harry and Billy who help keep Charlie out of range of Victoria. (NM14) Then, the morning of Bella’s cliff diving expedition, Harry has a heart attack from which he does not recover. (NM16)
