Christina Perri Cracks Billboard’s Hot 100 With 1,000 years Part 2

According to Billboard:

Perri is back on the Hot 100 with “A Thousand Years, Pt. 2″ featuring Steve Kazee, the only track on “Twilight Saga — Breaking Dawn Pt. 2″ available for purchase a la carte. It debuted last week on Hot Digital Songs at No. 13 with 70,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Her original solo version, from the “Breaking Dawn: Part 1″ soundtrack, cracked the 2 million sold mark last week and is now at 2.1 million. It trails her biggest hit, “Jar of Hearts” from her debut album, “lovestrong.”; the single has sold 3.3 million copies.

“I always wanted it to be a duet,” she says, “because that’s the way I wrote it – part Edward and part for Bella.  I got to add a verse and then arrange it with a full orchestra with David Campbell. Being able to re-do it – I was incredibly blown away. When I went to the premiere, it felt more like everyone’s song – it’s for the whole franchise. I’m really honored.”

Comments

  1. I adore this song! :D

  2. Anyone know when the BD2 soundtrack is coming out on CD? Haven’t seen it yet.

  3. A Thousand Years has always been one of my favorite songs. It represents the entire saga so well. Especially the line of the song for the second film “The day we met, frozen I held me breath.” It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard and it brought tears to my eyes when they played in the Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Congrats, Christina. You have pretty much written Twilight its theme song.

  4. To me, this will always be Bella’s Lullaby.
    What an amazingly beautiful song.
