Walmart DVD To Have Eclipse Footage

Ultimate fans of Twilight have a reason to howl with excitement: a sneak peek at The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Walmart announced today it will be the only retailer to carry The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition on standard DVD, and Blu-ray, with never-before-seen footage from the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Walmart also will feature “Twilight Saga Shops” in stores – a dedicated shopping experience for Twilight fans to bite into a variety of Twilight-themed clothing, jewelry, and merchandise, including new items to show their wolf- or vampire-fan pride.
Fans can pre-order The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition on DVD or Blu-ray, as well as the national two-disc Special Edition DVD or Special Edition Blu-ray, today at Walmart.com. With the new movie and 50 minutes of extra footage and interviews, The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition also contains an exclusive, 7-minute sneak peek of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It begins with an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the production of the newest film. New interviews with stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, as well as with series-creator Stephenie Meyer, are integrated with revealing on-the-set footage of some of the key scenes and sets from the upcoming movie. This first-look at The Twilight Saga: Eclipse concludes with the world premiere of an actual scene from the upcoming film.
With the movie release scheduled for March 20, 12:01 am, fans can be among the first to own the DVD, joining friends nationwide at midnight release events in more than 2,600 24-hour Walmart stores. The midnight release last year of the first Twilight movie brought hundreds of thousands of fans together online and in stores, becoming the most pre-ordered movie and most successful DVD movie release event in Walmart history.
Walmart’s Twilight Saga Shops, designed for both the “fan-pire” and “wolf-lover,” will open in stores mid-March and will feature a variety of items themed around the Twilight series and favorite movie characters.
Among the items in Walmart Twilight Saga Shop are:

· Party snacks and beverages to prepare for DVD viewing parties

Walmart will host its dedicated Twilight Saga Shops in its 3,500 stores through mid-April, and continue to carry Twilight merchandise through the year, although some items are for a limited period only.

Now that’s just mean. I’m excited for the Eclipse footage, but why do they have to release so many different DVDs? So not cool. I feel like they’re gauging us.
I am not a Wal-Mart fan, but at least they are not gouging us like FYE, Hot Topic and Borders that are charging ridiculous prices for a key chain or a tank top!
Curious-How much, if any, share of the profits from this sort of thing do the actors/director get?
It depends on whether it’s stated in their contracts,that they get royalties from the dvd profits.

I have to agree with you. Target had the 3 disc set with the 3 itunes download. I keep hoping they’ll do it again with New Moon but just stay quiet about it until release time. I really am excited to see the Eclipse trailer but I still won’t step foot in a Walmart for it or any other Saga items. Guess I’ll wait until they post it on youtube.
Yeah with all the hype of New Moon I can’t imagine it will be less for Eclipse which means the exclusive footage will be online most likely before the DVD is for sale in Wallmart stores. I for one am done playing these games Summit keeps throwing out. We will pick our New moon Blu-Ray up at some local store but we are not going to go hunt down other copies.

This is actually just getting ridiculous now. There should only be two types of DVD’s – a 2 disc special addition, and a normal one!
Most people have already pre-ordered their DVD’s and now, if you want the Special Eclipse Footage you have to buy this one too.
Are they not milking the fans enough already?
Sorry, but this just grates me. It’s even worse that there is only one type sold in South Africa, and it doesn’t even have the deleted scenes!
Do you think we’ll now have to wait until after this is released for Summit to give us some Eclipse footage??

This is ridiculous. I don’t plan on pre-ordering my DVD, but to have extra footage with one store and not available at others is just crazy. I can understand the extra little charms like Borders is doing with their pre-orders, but like someone else said their should be two types of packages, Regular and Supreme.
I will keep my pre-order where I originally placed it. By the time the dvd comes out Summit will already be airing the trailer.
Guess I won’t be getting this. I refuse to shop the Evil Empire known as Wal-Mart.
I already ordered my DVD from Borders… why you may ask… because it will match Twilight, which I also bought at Borders last year. I’m not going to hunt down DVD’s that have special this only located at this store… or special that thats only available at this store! It’s crazy… It should be available on all the DVD’S!!!
Plus, that seven minutes of bonus footage will end up on Youtube for EVERYONE to watch for free… so… -_-

has anyone been able to actually find the ultimate fan editio even on the walmart site yet? Because all I can find is the special 2 disc one.
I have preordered movies from Wal-Mart and didn’t get them in the mail for 4 days after their original release date…very frustrating. I preordered the three disc special from Target with a guaranteed street date delivery. I don’t want to wait 4 extra days to get my movie from Wal-Mart again. I agree with the bonus eclipse stuff being released all over the internet for free anyway.
This is a bit much & too much to choose from, & I agree its not fair to the fans to have to choose between all these DvD sets.
I appreciate what they’re trying to do which is give variety, but on the other side of the coin times are hard, give the fans a set & a good set, or let us have the option to build sets out of all the available product for a set price that’s affordable.

this is a hard choose due to the fact target has the 3 disc edition and doesnt havethe eclipse footage and the walmart hasthe 2-disc with the eclipse footage….so the question is which one to choose?
I agree there are too many edtions to choose from that I can’t decide I think that like someone said it should be only two editions
I wish all the DVDs were the same at each store, cause then it would make it a lot easier. I hate that all the bonus stuff is scattered out in different DVD versions of the movie. I’m still going to stick with Borders cause I already ordered it, and it will match my Twilight one, and they’ll be having a midnight release party.
And even though I would love to have Wal-mart’s version with the Eclipse footage, I’ll just pass on that cause it will be on the internet soon after and I can just watch it for free then
I think this is just disgusting, really. Money rules the world so I guess it’s not surprising either. I, also, refuse to support Walmart. Like people have already said, I’m sure the footage will be released for free – eventually – online. To me, this DVD is about New Moon and IT’S special features.
What DOES get me excited about this is that I think it’s safe to say the trailer will have to be released by this date – if not the trailer + additional footage. I highly doubt they’d FIRST release footage on a store-bought DVD, do you?
i was really eager to see an eclipse trailer with the new moon dvd. i guess that’s not going to happen anymore
it’s definitely annoying that there’s only one retailer with this footage (and it isn’t even TARGET, with their 3-disc!). What’s worse – it’s WALMART. There are high-points to walmart’s prices and all, but if there’s something this amazing at only one retailer, WALMART is the last place i’d imagine. It’s the place where the least sophisticated go for fishing gear and gardening supplies, not where the average (or closer to obsessed) franchise fan goes for their merchandise!
After giving it some thought. I think I am still going to get the Target one. 7 minutes of Eclipse would be nice and all, but think about a year from now, when you have all three movies. You won’t care about that 7 minutes of footage any more because you’ll already have the entire movie, but the extras on the other DVD’s will still be unique to that DVD.
I think the Twilight Lexicon should verify information bef0ore blindly putting it on their site – the WalMart corporate site where the press releases are have NOTHING about this right up until today. The link someone posted above brings youto the Walmart page where the 2 disc Special Edition DVD is.
For the record, we had this verified by both Wal-Mart and from our contact at Summit through a phone call. We never would post anything this important without checking sources first. If you can’t find the information on Wal-Mart’s site, then they haven’t updated their data base to include this information yet. But I promise you, we did have this verified.
I am so confused!!! Is there going to be a check list posted so I can compare them all.
I’d like to support places like HMV for this kind of stuff not Wally.
I also like walking in to a store, where people are employed, to buy stuff like this and not online where a computer has taken over several jobs.

After already preordering the Blu-ray version from Amazon at the same price as Walmart but with free shipping, I am disappointed in this new twist, but being a fanatic, I will probably buy the above mentioned Fan Addition from Walmart also. I actually like having multiple copies of the same movie on hand especially if I’m going to play it repeatedly at home.

Somewhere thought I read there was going to be a published listing of the features on each DVD set once all the sets were announced. Maybe they haven’t all been announced.
I walked into Target last year and picked up my Blu-ray/DVD Twilight set the afternoon it was released. No pre-order. No standing in line. I think I’ll do the same this year. I just need to know what options I have.

I am curious if this will even apply to the stores in Canada….I mean it is always different. So to hear that Walmart will carry it, doesn’t even guarantee that we will see any of it
If you order it online you should be able to get it to play because Canada is the same DVD zone as the US
Does anyone know if the Blu-Ray at Target will have the same stuff as the Target 3 DVD copy. I really want this on Blu-Ray but I want the extra stuff too. I was very happy with the 3 DVD of Twilight. Thanks!
i just saw on perez hilton that they will debut the Eclipse trailer before that Percy Jackson movie … and it comes out this weekend… i think… but they said its just rumor and not confirmed right now … O.O

Arghhhhh. I already bought the Target and Borders DVDs, like last year. Wal-Mart’s Twilight offer was horrible so I didn’t even bother researching. Looks like I’ll be spending another $30 since I know no one is going to be able to get the 7 minute footage on YouTube and keep it from getting pulled.
Yea but for every video that gets pulled, another will pop up in its place 10 minutes later. That’s how it was for the Comic Con footage and all the clips.
Huh, I work at a Walmart, (It’s a decent part time job for a student.) and they haven’t made any mention of having a twilight “shop” in the store. Then again, I work in a Canadian Walmart so this press release might only be for the American stores.
I still think Ima get my movie at Best Buy when eclipse comes out. I hate to go cheap and somethings up with the movie like a scratch. Im just saying…. Hit me on twitter! Just kidding.

I was expecting an Eclipse trailer in the New Moon DVD. I think it will be in all of them – like it is in the Twilight DVD for the NM trailer.
That wasn’t true for a while….. It was supposed to be on BD Live for the Twilight dvd, but it didn’t show up for a few months.
I am so gonna buy the new moon dvd from Walmart.
This is such a tough decision. Last year, I ordered Target’s three-disc version of Twilight because, in my opinion, it was the best value for my money. I had finally made up my mind to get Target’s version of New Moon this year & now Wal-Mart’s thrown one heck of a curveball!
I agree that sooner or later this footage will probably end up on YouTube – isn’t it that way with a lot of footage these days? – but on the other hand, it’s a great idea for someone like me who has dial-up & therefore just doesn’t have the capability to watch online videos. The only other thing that doesn’t make sense is why the US release isn’t getting the deleted scenes – or have I been missinformed..?
I want to know if anyone has compared the 2-disc Twilight DVD form Wal-mart and the 3-disc Twilight DVD from Target. The first two disc from Traget are the same as Wal-mart’s. I think all of the sets will have the Eclipse footage on the second disc. just because Target or best Buy don’t say they have, it doesn’t mean they won’t. They just didn’t release that information to us. That’s what I think anyways.
WALMART will be the ONLY store to include the Eclipse footage. Walmart also gets hundreds of DVD’s so you will be able to get one. In some Walmart stores they have a huge turnout for dvd releases. And i’m sure New Moon will be alot of fun at Walmart at 11:00pm.
ugh im so sick of the multi movie sets idc as long as i have the movie i already know that the crap from all the special dvds will be on youtube since part of it is already being leaked!!!!! I’m getting mine at blockbuster and im not ashamed lol!!!!!!!!!!!
