By all accounts Peter Facinelli was a smash hit where upwards of 1,000 people turned out to get an autograph and photo (with part of the proceeds going to charity).
According to the Southwest Riverside News:
“Thousands of Southwest Riverside Twi-hards braved sheets of rain and crowded into the plaza for a glimpse of Facinelli. All waited patiently in lines that stretched in a seemingly endless queue throughout the mall.
The event was part of an effort to raise funds for UNICEF with a portion of the proceeds going towards helping the Haiti earthquake victims. At $25 for autographs and $40 for a photo, it is expected that a considerable sum will be raised to benefit the Haiti relief efforts.”
According to the Press Enterprise (they also have video coverage if you click the link):
“A queue of more than 2,000 people stretched from the platform, where Facinelli awaited flushed-faced teens, past several storefronts.
Some people waited for upwards of five hours with “Twilight” books, posters and T-shirts in hand for a chance to get their keepsakes signed, as well as a chance to hug, shake hands — and get a kiss on the cheek from Facinelli.
“I’m never washing my face again,” a hyperventilating Lynzie Maloney shrieked as she bounded from the mall with her best friend Rachel Barraza, who was also close to tears.
“This is the best day of my life,” screamed Rachel, whose hands were shaking with excitement.”
And what did Peter have to say about all of this?
He turned his IPhone around to film the crowd and Tweeted it! Then he told the press, “You never get used to it, I’m surprised every time I show up,” he said. “It makes you feel that you have done something right, and it’s great to see so many people come out and support a great cause.
“The crowd here has been awesome.”

These girls are really very lucky with Peter Facinelli
I live an hour away from Temecula!! I’m so disappointed I didn’t know about this!
He should come back, lol.
Peter’s awesome, I love him!
My daughter and I were there, he was sooo sweet! He didn’t rush and he genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself. We each shook his hand and got hugs from him. He took a picture pretending to bite my daughter’s arm, it came out soooo cool! We were like sixth in line. It was worth getting there early! My b-day is next week, It was like an early b-day present to be there. And the fact that some of the money is going to charity is awesome too!
I am TEAM CARLISLE all the way!…Sorry, Edward and Jacob! lol
I was there as well and he was wonderful! So sweet and genuine. He joked with us and gave us each a hug before our photo and took extra time with my daughter and I was so appreciative. I agree – Team Carlisle.
For those interested, he will also be at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga on the 20th from noon-6pm doing the same thing.
Cool that PE covered the story. Sad that the reporter kept pronouncing his last name wrong, and that his character was “Dr. Carlisle CullenS”
In reply to Jenna:
I live an hour away from temecula to, How did I not know about this.
lol. I’m from Temecula and missed the appearance by a couple of hours! But at least PE has his name somewhat right, Good housekeeping did an interview and has him as Dr Carlisle COOPER. I about fell out of my chair at that one.
Direct quote: “… when he had to learn to suture for his role as Dr. Carlisle Cooper in the twilight saga films, he practiced on chicken breasts.”
They don’t seem to double check all the different doctors he’s playing these days with him as Dr Fitch Cooper on Nurse Jackie.
