Taylor Lautner Working With Summit On Another Movie

According to Variety, Taylor Lautner and his newly formed production company (So new in fact this is the first we’re hearing of it.) is going to produce and action flick set in Cancun that utilizes Taylor’s considerable martial arts skills. In case you missed it, check out Taylor using those skills during his SNL monologue. They film be a Summit Entertainment venture with Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey also producing this venture.

What sure to get everyone buzzing is the last paragraph in the story:

“Godfrey said the project grew out of Lautner’s enthusiasm for “Taken” — which he saw during the filming of “New Moon” — and his desire to do a movie in the genre. The Champnella/Thompson script offered the

opportunity for the former karate champ to use the brawn and physical skills he displayed during his recent hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

We wanted to continue working with Taylor and feel he’s got the chops to become a big action star,” Godfrey said.

Lautner recently became attached to “Max Steel” at Paramount.

Godfrey said the hope is to get the Cancun-set project into production by June. Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “Breaking Dawn” beginning in late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.”

There is no word on how this will affect Taylor’s participation in the Max Steel project that he is also attached to. Get the whole story on Variety.

That would be fantastic! Stunts and he can pull off emotional scenes…looking forward to it!

  4. Mel says:

Taylor is such a talented actor, I hope he doesn’t find himself pigeonholed as an action star. That kind of move can be deadly to an actor’s career. After all, how many times can someone find themselves “in the wrong place, at the wrong time”?

    DID anyone notice that,
***Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “Breaking Dawn” beginning in late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.”

does that mean that Breaking Dawn is for sure gonna happen!?!!???!!!

    • bee says:

I think that would be a mistake to do breaking dawn in two movies. I know the book is long, but that is just because Stephanie is very detailed and long winded(not that that is a bad thing) but they really could do the wedding up until she has the baby in like 45 minutes. If they made it a three hour movie that would be better.

*pokes Linnea’s post* I noticed this too! Wow…I thnks that’ the most difinative word we’ve gotten on the Breakin Dawn Film/Films we’ve gotn so far, and directly from one of the Producers….I hope we can ge a conformation form Summit soon!

Breaking Dawn?! Late 2010?! Does that mean it’s confirmed?!?!

OMFC!!!! Two pieces of a great news today!!! I get into college! AND BREAKING DAWN IS BEING FILMED!!! WOOOO!!! (I hope the bd thing is not just hear say!)

  10. Mel says:

I guess they have a LOT to work out before production can start, but I hope that the cast doesn’t age too much in the next year. Rob looked every bit his age in New Moon.

    • Donna says:

I agree about Rob looking his age in New Moon. In Twilight, he actually LOOKED 17. But with the wardrobe they put him in in New Moon, he looked all of 23 or more!!

They need to watch that carefully when picking clothing for the cast! Clothes make all the difference!

  11. Lily Cullen says:

Oh, I totally loved the last paragraph!

  12. Lucia says:

Yeah, breaking dawn is denifinitely the news there! Taylor was bound to do an action movie, but BREAKING DAWN!! Woohooo! I can’t wait to hear more!

  13. Misfit says:

RUN DON’T WALK Taylor get AWAY FROM Max Steel it will be a FLOP no matter how good you are the movie is going to flop you can’t save it don’t do it. Run away like it is acid it will be very very very very bad.

    Misfit.

  14. TIera says:

interesting, not getting my hopes up yet. congrats to Taylor on the production company!

  15. suzyquzy says:

Martial arts is what Taylor likes best. He had great success with it when he was a pre-teen.
He has pretty much done it all his life I hope this
    really works for him.

  16. switzy4ever says:

excellent to hear about breaking dawn! man, so many people are talking about it, why can’t they just come out with an official statement already?!

also, congrats taylor, good to hear you’re doing some other stuff.

  17. safina says:
