Eclipse Shooting: Celebrity Sites Call it Unique

The article in Canada’s Globe and Mail talks about how traditional media sites have never seen anything quite like the Twilight Saga fury and how they get their info. (Photo credit ML Splash News)
“The Twilight films are based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels of the same name about the vampire Edward (Pattinson) and Bella (Stewart), the human teen who falls for him. The novels were bestsellers before they hit the big screen, but the films have turned the Twilight industry into an even larger phenomenon – fuelling a staggering interest in the stars.
“Any and every photo – it doesn’t matter how bad it is, it doesn’t matter how little you can see of the people, the fans want to see everything and they will look at every single photo all day long,” says Goodson.
To say the photos are good for driving traffic to the websites is an understatement.”
I’m a little bit angry that they switched the make of Volvo. ):
Me too! The SILVER volvo is legendary!
They should of stuck with the one from Twilight instead of giving it away!
Technically, the new volvo IS silver (just dark silver) and you’d expect the Cullens to get the newer model ever now and then… or they’d still be driving the old Model-T, and that would really look out of place. But I definately like the “Twilight Volvo” better.
me to…
stupid shiney volvo owner…
and this thing is like aeroplane
Oh, I love that picture. ‘Tis sad however, with all the paps and everything. I just wish they’d leave them alone, but I do miss my Twilight sitings… Such a bittersweet thing.
im very unhappy with the darker volvo. of all the things to change. why couldn’t they just let that one be? it’s wrong.
we know good and well that Volvo paid summit for advertising or some other quid pro quo so summit let volvo put in whatever car they wanted selling the fans out and violating the integrity of the story.
remember google being written into edwards lines and was featured prominently during bellas internet search during twilight? my hubby’s worked for google the past few years and that does sound like something they’d do. no doubt google paid twilight for that advertising.
product placementt in tv shows and movies… it’s the advertising of hte future. i hope they cgi that volvo back to silver.
Totally agree with you. I saw an ad Volvo did before Twilight came out, where they were advertising the model that Summit ended up using. At the end of the ad they said “now we just need to find a way to market it to young people”. Gee, I wonder how they solved that problem?
THAT’S why they changed the model. NOT because they weren’t making the S60R anymore. I think they could have found one if they tried. (Volvo has to keep a record of all owner’s contact details in case a recall has to be done.) But helping Summit to track down an older model wouldn’t have generated any sales for them.
Anyone who thinks the Volvo model was changed for ANY other reason than profit is seriously deluded about the lengths companies will go to to make money.
I don’t remember Edward driving a cross over SUV, do you? I’m sure Volvo makes lots of shiny little sporty cars that they could have supplied. Lame.
It’s not supposed to be a shiny little sports car. They are supposed to be trying to blend in. And the book doesn’t say what type of volvo, or what shade of silver, for that matter.
Yes, the book does not say the make of Volvo, but Stephenie Meyer explains her perception of it on her website -S60R if you’re wondering- so it is a little disheartening to see what the media is doing to her beautiful vision.
That being said, I’m still excited to see New Moon. (:
actually, Bella does call him a “stupid shiny volvo owner”
><
Oh for the love of pete leave the actors alone…sigh…I don’t know what is more annoying the taboled maginzes that buy the pics or the fans stupid enough to believe the junk that Ok and People magizne put out. Really leave them along realllyyyyy…*sigh*
hehe, i know! this comment is a little side tracked, but.. i hade this thought the other day and wanted to share it…. i think it’s weird that alle the twilight “fans” (read obsessed, crazy, over the top) are so intent on making rob.p and kirstin.s a couple.. i would think that moust of (those) fans would want rob single
Damn straight we would! Haha.
thats so true. i mean its so stupid to want them to be a couple when you know you want rob. y give the one you want up so easily? people should leave well enough be and let it all play out. if they want to be a couple then let em. if they want to get(this is really hard for me to believe) let em. but if they dont leave em alone.
Amen sister!!!!!
I’m kinda pissed too that the original Volvo isn’t in here. At least the first one was closer to the books.
I just want things to stay close to the books but I know they can’t. I just don’t want Twilight to sell out to all these people who want to make money off it.
The Twilight books is more than what the people who don’t know about it think and I don’t want it to be this HSM/Disney sell out type of stuff.
IT’S MORE THAN THAT and it’s sucks people don’t understand it.
They so totally know how we the fans are. They can take good advantage of us.
They should have gotten the traditional volvo from the book.
I wish they would have kept the Volvo the traditional silver instead of charcoal. There are some things that should be changed such as the color of Edward’s hair and the Volvo.
I meant “shouldn’t” be changed.
i wish they wouldnt have changed the volvo…
ok so the volvo thing is really getting on my nerves! i understand that volvo wants to advertise their new models in the movie, but that is not the point…grrrr. they should have at least kept it an S60 not the new SUV–i mean come on you have to keep the same model–that bothers me more than the color change.
oh, come on! it’s a car, and it’s a Volvo, so who cares!! it doesn’t change anything from the plot so..
I agree about the Volvo, it should be light silver. The dark silver which is really known as phantom gray or charcoal gray looks black, so yeah that totally changes it.
Chill everyone – the Volvo was never the right one anyway. Sure, I’d like it to be silver but as long as Edward is the right Edward then I’m happy……
…and just to create another storm, Bella’s motorbike isn’t red in New Moon….and Rosalies car didn’t look like a BMW M3 to me…and did Emmetts jeep have really big wheels and a shiny red hardtop?…and where was the ‘bulbous cab’ on Bella’s truck???….and how does Jasper get about until he inherits Edward’s motorbike-does he run everywhere???…and what about poor poor Esme???? I’ve confused myself now….
Yes, the car thing is a little upsetting, the books never said anthing about Edward getting a new car, and the time span in the books is pretty short, I’m sure Edward could hold on to his LITTLE Volvo for that long. and my husband made a funny!! “Wouldn’t they need the SUV when they have the baby?” Good one honey! Maybe Volvo will make a minivan just for the Cullens! and I to could never understand why Jasper and Esme don’t really have there own cars!
Lol,I so need that Volvo minivan, I cried when I couldn’t fit my 4 kids into my Volvo and had to sell it. Once driven, forever smitten….bit like ‘Twilight’ really, and I’m definitely too old to be dreaming about Edward all the time….
You guys, it’s just a car.
Exactly what I said. It’s not like the color/model of a car is going to ruin the movie…
I don’t think any of us believe the change will ruin the movie. It’s just about consistency. If they change the model again for Breaking Dawn, that would make three Volvo changes in 18 months. That’s not something Edward would do. Plus, why would he stick to Volvo? I know it’s over thinking it, but it’s not like we’re asking for the impossible. All they had to do was NOT change the car. They managed to do it with everyone else.
Still crap though
Seriously the model of the volvo doesn’t bother me as much as the color change has. The model that was in the first film was weird to me for some reason. Whenever I read the books(before seeing the movie) I always imagined Edward driving a silver small volvo with a regular trunk? Not sure if I’m getting my point across clearly but that hatchback thing is just so not Edward Cullen. So any volvo car that was the first silver color and not a hatchback would have done .
this would have been the last thing I would have changed was the car from one film to the next!
Ok kids, let’s keep our eyes on the prize shall we. Of course they are going to change things from the book. To change the car is kind of silly, but frankly if it is the really small stuff e.g. dark silver car, a non-red bike, a green cake instead of pink… I just want them to the story right this time. The Twilight movie was such a weak story compared to the story Stephanie created in her book. I am more concerned about the story…how well do they capture Edward leaving, Bella’s devastation, the growing relationship with Jacob, Bella saving Edward, and my favorite part Bella and Edward getting back together. In comparison the color/make of the car really isn’t that important.
