Hot Topic Has Brand New New Moon Merchandise

A lot of people have told us at the recent conventions that as much as they love the actors, they didn’t as one person put it, “..want Peter Facinelli’s head sandwiched between my breasts.” So it looks like there’s a great solution in this new shirt. You can see how it has the earth-toned color palette that Chris Weitz spoke about in his interview with the fansites.
What do you prefer, an abstract design or a shirt featuring the actors?

IMHO, the shirts with the actors faces on them are geared more toward the younger fans. I’m in my 30s. Much as I love all things Twilight, I’m not going to walk around in public with a Taylor tee-shirt on cuz I’ll look rediculous.
My FAVORITE HP shirt was solid black and in white Potter-ish text said “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” on the front and “Mischief Managed” on the back. Classic and awesome.
Similar tees from Twilight would tempt me. Anything with someone’s mellon silkscreened on my mellons … no way.
I agree with you Chloe! I’m considered a senior citizen (ahem), but I’m a Twilight fan and so are all my equally aged friends. We would love to wear something more befitting our age and yet show our love of the Twilight series. I really love the earthy color palette of New Moon. And the Ts without actors’on them. I prefer the books anyways.

Those of us who are 21+, not to metion pushing 30 (like me), and work jobs outside the retail business, the only silk-screened tee that goes over my girls is Betty Page and that’s weekends only.
It’d be nice if these t’s were a girl’s cut and a boy’s cut as well. I hate rolling my sleeves, but with being short means short arms and I look even more silly if I’m swimming in fabric down to my forearms!

I like the shirts w/out the actors. For one thing I’m more obsessed w/the books than the movies and for another their faces get crazy distorted sometimes because of fabric folds and its creepy. lol
Ditto. It looks a little weird when the characters appear to be ‘looking around a corner’ or ‘abstract by design’ depending on where their head meets up with your boobs

I prefer without…its more representative of the books that I love.
Definitely with the actors. I like this shirt but it’s not worth paying $22-24 dollars for.

I prefer the designs without actors. I’m a series fan, not a particular-actor-portraying-a-character fan
JEN thank god someones thinkin smart!! LOL..By the time u pay for tax and s/h 4 the shirt it just makes it to much money..They should make these shirts less money more peeps would get them just a thought.

I definitely prefer tees with text and designs rather than faces. However I prefer group portraits on a shirt better than individual portraits. There’s always an exception–one of my favorite t-shirts is Jack Sparrow across the entire front of the shirt, and it’s hard to tell what is on the shirt at a glance.
I’m really liking this New Moon design, so I’ll probably end up getting one. I’d prefer to wait to pay the price when they’d go on clearance, but most of Hot Topic’s Twilight shirts sold out before ever making it to the clearance section!
As long as the shirt is attractive, I don’t care if it has the actors’ faces on it. I’d be much more likely to wear a shirt with just the logo on it in public, though. If it has the characters on it, I’ll usually just wear it at home or to the movie and that’s it. I really like the ones that have a cool quote on the back, though.
I like this design, like others have said it has the feel of the novel. I specifically like the shirts with quotes from the books on them. Something that only a Twilight fan would know or recognize.
I prefer actors!!!! I want a Jacob one with his hair short!!! I hope they make one!

Love it! I can’t stand the actor shirts.The large amount of silk screen is annoying and sometimes slightly creepy.
Besides, then I can represent the book too, not just the movie.
I hope they keep coming out withh more… I’ve been saving my HT giftcard for months for a shirt like this.

Both have their advantages. I’m sure they’ll continue to make both, as long as they sell, which they will.
For me, the more important thing is that they have a variety of merchandise representing ALL different parts of the book, including several different characters. I love Bella and Edward, but honestly, I’m more a fan of secondary characters like Alice and Carlisle. I was just thrilled that Hot Topic made shirts for them at all!
So whether it’s abstract or has an actor’s face on it, what matters to me is merchandise that represents my favorite characters. Right now, they only make those shirts with the actors’ faces on them. But if they made abstract shirts for Carlisle/Alice/etc? Well, I’ll probably buy those too!
Oh, and I have to say, I’m anxiously waiting for a cool shirt that represents the werewolf pack as a whole, and a Volturi shirt as well. I love all three groups (including the Cullens) for different reasons, so it would be great to have some merchandise for that. I bet they could come up with some really cool designs, too!
I like both the abstract t-shirt and the one with the characters. I do already own the characters t-shirt so I’m not sure I’ll buy other kinds. I do like that abstract design though!

i really like this shirt, it would be something i would buy, because it reflects more on the book than the movie. (even though, i do think this movie is going to be a hell of a lot better than what twilight was…) I like ABSTRACT…it’s uncomfortable to look down and see RPatz or TLautner staring at you in a creepy way…
I would prefer a shirt that has meaning instead of just the actor’s face. Something with a quote or phrase from the books will be very nice. Besides, I’m a fan of the book series.
It’s a nice enough design but can we have a few charater shirts too? I never got my Alice shirt!!! And maybe a few more Quote shirts would be nice.
I also prefer more abstract designs than having faces on my shirt. I agree with the previous posters that you’re much more likely to get older fans (like myself) to wear them that way. My only twilight shirt (from Twilight Teez, RIP), is the “she’s tougher than that, she runs with vampires” shirt. Like someone else said, “classic and awesome.”
The Cullen crest ones at Hot Topic were a step in the right direction.

but im so glad theyre not forgetting the book and adding lines from the book
i like the abstract shiets. i love the talented cast of the twilight saga, but i always feel like im being stared at when i wear someones face on my shirt. i think the shirts with quotes from the books are the best!!! there are so many great quotes in the twilight saga that i would love to have on something in my closet.

Great place, I read few posts and think to stay here for longer (:
