Convention Craze: What’s Your Favorite Thing to See?

Posted by Twilight_News - 20/08/09 at 12:08 am

We get so many emails from fans who say, “I saw so-in-so sing a a con and he was great.” or ” I had no idea person x was that funny live.”  At a lot of these events there is no video footage allowed so it’s hard to show people why something was a great experience. So just for fun with all the upcoming conventions we thought we’d do a poll about fan favorites in different categories.  So you can chime in who your favorite person at a convention was, or who you’d look forward to seeing.

Also, because we get so many emails about this, if you’ve been to a convention and you have seen a particular person, could you add your thoughts in the comments? This way other fans can get some ideas about what to expect at a convention. It’s hard for us to describe things because we haven’t been to every con ( just the other day people wanted to know what we knew about HUB in Australia), but if people chimed in from all over US, Australia, UK put down there experiences in their area…then people would have a better idea on what they might see.

I went to comic con and the special twilight screening so I saw a ton of the cast. Highlights (besides Rob) were Rachelle Lefevre-she is so cute and funny in person, really animated and into her character- and Jamie Campbell Bower-his accent is beyond sexy!

  • Morgan says:

well I went to the Hub’s convention here in Australia in December with Taylor, Nikki & Edi, it was great & well organised! it was awesome!
I also went to Supanova with Rachelle here in Sydney in July and that was great too!
They are all awesome people & if you ever get the chance to meet any of them, take the oppurtunity!

Uh, let’s see… I’ve been to three cons in the past three weeks for Twilight (Comic Con, Twicon, and Twi-Tours). I should do a write-up or something comparing all three, haha! Anyway, down to business…

I voted based on the people I’d seen in person, and how much fun they were to talk to. My favorites have been:

    1. Peter Facinelli! Definitely the best Cullen to meet at a con, in my opinion. He is unbelievably sweet, and he was so funny at Twi-con that he stole the show during the big Q&A panel. If you ever get the chance to meet him, DO IT!

(I’ve also met Jackson, who is awesome, and seen Kellan, who is even hotter in person. I didn’t get to talk to Kellan, but he seemed unbelievably nice as well.)

    2. The Wolf Pack! :D I couldn’t pick just one. I got to meet Alex, Chaske, and Kiowa over the weekend. I’d say Alex is the hottest, Chaske’s the funniest, and Kiowa’s the nicest. But all three definitely apply to each of them! (Alex and Chaske were hilarious during Q&A sessions. Alex kept saying everything was “hawt” in his best Paris Hilton voice, lol!)

  • Kat says:

Part Two, haha! (Sorry for the length, but I thought I’d add it, just in case it helps somebody out there…)

    3. I couldn’t decide out of the humans, to be honest. I’ve met Gil, Christian, Justin, and Michael, and they were all very friendly and funny during Q&As and autographs. I finally went with Gil, because he did a panel with the Wolf Pack and he kept teasing them the whole time, haha. He’s a really cool guy, and a great musician!

    4. Edi Gathegi!!! Omigosh, Edi is the funniest guy you will ever meet! He’s the only red-eyed vamp I’ve met, but he was my second favorite cast member to see in person, next to Peter. He was hilarious throughout his entire Q&A. And he was so nice! He even tried to call Stephenie Meyer for us during his panel. It didn’t go through, but it’s the thought that counts! He’s a great guy. :D

Also, I just thought I would mention that I’ve seen “The Big Three” at both Comic Con panels. Rob and Kristen are extremely hot in person. ;) Out of the three, Taylor is probably the most charming and kind during Q&A’s. They all act about the same way they do in interviews, I would say, so that should give you some idea of what it’s like to see them at panels. :)

I went to the London Film & Comic Con where we had Peter, Justin & Alex. Justin was kind of ADHD and got bored easily, Peter was just great in front of an audience but not that great in person, and Alex was WONDERFUL. He had time to a quick chat with everyone, he gives THE best hugs for photos & just to say hi (*swoon*) and he is clearly an intelligent and thoughtful man. He is so genuine – that man is going to have a LOT of fans. I’m totally there now. Robward who?

I would be excited to see Alex over pretty much everyone now. Before I went that was not the case. He has 100% won me over.

  • Rachel says:

MICHAEL SHEEN DARN YOU! He was the hottest Lycan of his time ;)

  • Michelle says:

I went to the Minneapolis Twi-Tour and everyone there was fantastic! Gil, Peter, Chaske, Bronson, Christian, Edi and Catherine (Hardwicke). Their panles were all so different, but entertaing all the same. Catherine had a lot of information/advice for actors and those wanting to work in film.

Peter and Edi were absolutely hilarious! If you ever get to see Peter, ask him to share some RVing stories and his trip to Metropolis. Edi told us the one movie in the whole world he wishes he could be in was Eclipse – so cute!

Some other funny things that happened – Gil crashed the wolves (Chaske and Bronson) panel and Christian crashed Edi’s panel – posing as an audience member and asking Edi to do his “mouthwatering” line.

Initially I was a little bummed by all the appearance changes that happened at the Minneapolis stop, but in the end it was still well worth the money to attend.

  • lovin_chaske says:

If the name doesn’t give me away… then I don’t know what will. Chaske Spencer is what did it for me! I attended the Minneapolis, MN twi – tour with Creation Entertainment… and I went in not expecting much. Since all that I wanted to see had backed out. I was slapped in the face with reality when Chaske came out on the stage. He’s humble, sweet, funny… oh and VERY ATTRACTIVE! Hands down my favorite person to meet. *please send him back to us next year*

Edi Gathegi was a riot. He had everyone laughing constantly.
Bronson was such a fun guy too. He and Chaske really hammed it up for the crowd.
Gil played a guitar for us… it was simply amazing.
Peter… talked about his wife and family RV trips. If he were to write a book about these adventures I’d surely buy it. They were hilarious. He also pulled audience members out of the crowd to ask their own questions up with him. Super sweet.
    Christian Serratos… She’s a doll. Very kind.
Last but not least we had Catherine Hardwicke. She’s actually quite cool. She gave lots of behind the scenes tid bits… like how auditions went and what she looks for when picking parts etc.

I would say if you ever get the opportunity to go to one of these events… DO IT! They’ll definitely see me again next year!

  • Rocio says:

I was wondering…. has dakota been to a twilight convention yet???

  • safina says:

I have never attended a con, but I would love to. I’d really look forward to seeing Kiowa Gordon, Christian Serratos, Rachelle Lefevre (even if she is no longer in the movies) and Ashley Greene (it was really hard to choose one Cullen, so since I love Alice the most, I chose Ashley).

  • Shayla says:

Kellan is hilareous at cons!!! And he’s fun!!

  • Elle says:

I went to the twi tour stop in Los Angeles this year. It was only one day and I saw Peter, Kellan, Mike and Edi. Ashley was supposed to be there, but had to go back for filming at the last minute so Edi came in her spot. I was not expecting how funny they all were! Especially peter, because he seems so quiet when I see him in interviews. Kellan was so friendly and you can tell he really loves all the fans. Mike was really funny and outgoing on stage and when we got to meet him up close he seems kind of shy. I am going to the 3 day in Los Angeles next year and I am looking forward to meeting Ashley, Justin and some of the wolf pack!

  • phillygirl19119 says:

I would love to see an Oscar nominated actor in Michael Sheen, OMG that would be huge. Gil is also a very good singer and is a sweetheart. I’d love to see him. Billy is a must! Any Cullen is fine. Peter, yes! Kellan, yes, Jackson, Esme, Alice…oh well all of them. As for the wolf pack, I’d love to see Sam and Paul (Alex & Chaske). I’m totally crushed Billy can’t come to Jersey. But I cannot wait to see Kellan, Jackson & Ashely!

  • Kim says:

I went to Twicon. I got to meet in person Peter, Billy, Jackson,Christian, and Alex. Kellan was there but I didn’t get to personally meet him due to some time constraints. Peter is the nicest person. I got my photo with him and got a great hug from him later on in the day. Billy is very down to earth and speaks his mind. He was also very nice. Jackson is very funny and at my con had to be the favorite with Peter being second. Alex is so sweet. You could tell he was a bit nervous but he chatted up with us and we had a lot of fun with him. Christian was pretty quiet and didn’t really have much to say. And from what I saw of Kellan he was very interactive with all the fans and everyone who met him in person seemed to really like his attitude and most got some sort of hug.

We also got to meet Bobby Long, Sam Bradley, and Marcus Foster. Let me just tell you that these boys are fantastic musicians and if you have the chance you must see them live. I saw them both nights they played off site in Dallas and then they each played a few songs are our Volturri Ball. They each have websites where I beleive you can buy their cd’s and you will not be disappointed. Bobby, Sam, and Marcus are all on MySpace and you can find more information out about them there by searching under the music category for them. You can hear some of their songs there before purchasing a cd.

I would totally recommend going to a convention if you can. Personally TwiCon was a dissappointment in the fact that it was very disorganized and all our functions (Q&A, Meet&Greet, Photos, Auto sessions) were all cut short from their regularly scheduled times. And the lines were insane. And you could not take any flash photography at the Q&A and were not allowed any pics or autos at meet and greet. Pictures with the actors were $40 ea and 1 autograph was free. You could then purchase one additional autograph for $16 so you had to choose from the actors who were coming who you wanted. I have seen at other conventions where you are guaranteed all actors auto’s. Therefore I am not attending next years but am going to try Twi-Tour instead.

Make sure you bring stuff to have autographed or you may end up having to spend money on getting something signed. Most of the vendors seemed to take credit cards but I’d have cash on hand for any that don’t. I went with a group of friends and we also did a chat for about 9 months prior with other people going and met up with everyone there. We did swaps and secret sparkle exchanges which was so much fun and came home with a lot of goodies that were handcrafted and free!!! I recommend trying to be on the forums of a site or start a facebook page to meet other people who might be attending the same convention.

If you belong to a Twilight website group such as myself it is easy to set up a FB page and chat. Of course never reveal too much information that is private.

I had to say meeting all my cyber friends in addition to meeting all the cast really made the trip worthwhile for me and I look forward to going to more Cons in the future!

Good luck and I hope you all get to attend one.

I got to go to two conventions and I got to meet Peter who was just signing in robot mood . Kellan seemed to be in hiding after the Q&A and he seems very hammy. I really liked and felt they were real was Mike and Christian in San Francisco. They were so much fun. Spontaneous and not hammy. My whole family and friends liked them. My friend was complaining about prices and I think someone overheard cause the next thing I knew Christian & Mike signed all of our Twilight stuff and were so nice about it. They were also very funny! I didn’t expect that. Now we all make a reunion about it and meet at the conventions. Can’t wait for the next one!

  • Lori says:

I was at TwiCon, and the actors were great. They were all very personable and gracious. Peter stole the show at the Q&A, and signed an extra item for me at the signing session. Jackson was awesome and also signed an extra item for me. Kellan was very fan-attentive at the Q&A and gave my friend and I great hugs. Alex is very sweet and is already my favorite of the new wolves. Billy was a riot at the Q&A. I felt bad for Christian, because she seemed to kind of get left out during the Q&A, but she was very gracious and thanked the fans. Jackson’s band, 100 Monkeys, performed two concerts, and did an offsite signing, so Jackson was very accessible. My only disappointment was that the cast didn’t make an appearance at the Volturi Masquerade Ball, but that may not have been in their contract, so I certainly place no blame on them. In fact, when we talked to Kellan, he thought they would be there, and was prepared to dance with the fans. I highly recommend Twilight conventions for any fan of the series. We met some great Twilight fans when we were there.

  • [...] Twilight Lexicon has put together a poll, then, to gauge fan interest in castmembers at the various conventions, and they are also looking for comments as to the why’s and how’s of fan opinion on the matter. The format of the poll includes distinction between the “types” of roles portrayed by the castmembers in question. For instance, one question asks for your “Wolfpack Favorite,” with Kiowa Gordon, Alex Meraz, Chaske Spencer, Tyson Houseman, and Bronson Pelletier as options. Since Twilight Lexicon is one of the groups involved with Creation Entertainment, per the press release issued recently and their proven track record of coverage, their ability to transfer this information properly is highly likely. That said, if you have an opinion on this matter, you should participate in this poll here. [...]
