  1. Elaine says:

    I wanna watch this movie.

  2. LIN says:

Robert truly is a wonderful actor, when he’s provided with the right role. He does a good job as Edward but I still feel he’s too stiff at times. As Dali? Wow. Just wow. He’s certainly someone to watch out for.

  3. katesinlove says:

So, I hope this turns out to be a substantial movie in regards to Dali. He is my favorite surrealist artist and I have loved him since I was very young. I have always found Dali’s work fascinating and provoking and loved reading some of his biographies for my art history clss. This should be good.

  4. mananda says:

    that was… interesting.

  5. Jackiee says:

i love rob how he never actually does his real accent in movies but rather puts on a different accent
the film looks quirky, yet it must have been as awkward as hell for rob doing the intimate scenes with the other actor

  6. papermoon says:

wow… now i really want to see this movie.that was good, especially with such an unusual character as Dali.

  7. Miriam says:

I have yet to see this movie but I think that this might h beis best role yet

  8. Jannieca says:

LOL!! He looks so funny with the mustache! but yet, he’s a great actor. :D

  9. ma says:

    gross!

  10. Allison says:

The movie looks interesting, but it’s hard to take Rob seriously with that ridiculous thing on his face :P

  11. Twilight Nymph says:

I agree he is a great actor, it does seem like one of his best performances so far. Yet, i have to agree with Allison, it kind of hard to take him seriously cuz the mustache just wants to make me laugh every time I see it. LOL

  12. dietmountainlion123 says:

    hahaha, the mustache!!
    i couldn’t take him seriously.
seems like this character is hilarious though, or maybe that’s just the way rob is portraying him.
i think this movie is going to be super:)
it was really cute in the beginning when the other actor was petting rob.

  13. ScarletRubie says:

Allison is so right, when i saw him talking for the first time i was just laughing, the mustache was hilarious. But i do really want to see this movie and it’s not soley for Robert but it helps that he’s in it. Salvador Dali was a great artist and Federico was a great at what he did, so my mom says. She’s the on who studied him in Mexico. I’m so excited i will go watch it for my birthday since it comes out the weekend before!

  14. Angel says:

His acting chops actually look pretty good in this clip… I had my doubts (though I was loathe to admit it) that he was capable of more than he delivered in Twilight. I CAN’T WAIT TO BE PROVEN WRONG! :P

  15. Nikki says:

Salvador Dali is my favorite artist. I cannot wait for this movie! I hope it eventually gets a wide release because if it stays in the limited release it’s schedule for, I probably won’t get to see it until it’s out on DVD.

  16. Devon061381 says:

Wow, this looks like it’s going to be good – very excited to see this :)

  17. Shelby says:

… Rob definitely seems like he can do any role fairly well… but he seems like a creeper in this one… =\

  18. LC says:

Rob is sexy and sensual, the last thing I want to see him in is playing Dali and any scenes that show him with another man. No, I don’t think I will see him as Dali, he is sexy Edward and this role does not fit him.

  19. arazcal says:

I, too, am looking forward to seeing this movie.
In several interviews Rob has mentioned it was awkward and embarrassing to do sexual scenes with another(straight)man and he found the role to be a challenge. I don’t have a problem with seeing R.Patz in this role. Rob “plays” awkward and quirky really well, probably because that seems to be a huge part of who he really is. I find those qualities interesting and endearing.I can understand the concern that some of his fans may have seeing him unlike “Edward” but as an actor he doesn’t want to be typecast and “locked into” just one character. Dali was an extremely complex man and I want to see how Rob brings him to life. I hope he nails it.
    No pun intended ;)

  20. Sarah says:

    Come on, people.
    He’s an ACTOR.
    It’s nothing.
To the people that don’t give Rob enough credit as an actor, this movie will show how diverse he can be. This movie could be a very positive thing for him, and a lot of you aren’t being optimistic or open-minded enough to see that. Rob, as much as some would like to deny it, is NOT Edward Cullen. He is an ACTOR, someone to PORTRAY Edward Cullen, someone to PORTRAY Dali.
ROB is NOT gay! So please, stop with the dramatics, people!

Props to the people that are actually being open-minded about this and the people that are excited to see Rob play something new and different! :)

  21. ILoveAliceCullen says:

I know this is gonna sounds weird, but I refuse to watch a movie with Robert Pattinson in it, until I’ve seen all Twilight saga movies.

I know, I’m crazy! But I can’t look at him, he’s too much Edward for me. I won’t see Adventureland too, because of Kristen Stewart.

Well, now you’re all allowed to send me to a home for crazy people.

  22. Aiya says:

Hmm…not sure how I feel about this movie. I need to see the whole thing before I decide. I guess my imagination is pretty weak because the mustache is freaky.

  23. Kevin says:

“Rob is sexy and sensual, the last thing I want to see him in is playing Dali and any scenes that show him with another man. No, I don’t think I will see him as Dali, he is sexy Edward and this role does not fit him.”

This role does fit him. He is an actor LC, not a fictional character based on a part-fantasy book series. Please get a grip on reality. It’s comments like these that make the fanbase look unintelligent. It’s a movie role. Look what Brokeback Mountain did for both Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal who are two straight actors ACTING in a role. But of course neither of them was “sexy edward”! Ugh! Please…that’s just embarrassing!!!

  24. Kira says:

Yeah, I was an art history minor and over my years I have grown to absolutely DESPISE Dali…although, to be truthful, I hated him ever since I was a young child when my grandparents had a print of his hanging over their fireplace that utterly CREEPED me out.
I still think that I am going to see this movie, regardless of how much dislike I hold towards Dali…I just hope that there aren’t too many 12 year old girls who show up at the movie and cry because “Edward” is VERY far from “Edward” in this movie.
(PS- the mustache is creepy? Have any of you seen Dali’s work? The mustache is tame compared to some of those…works…of…art[? it pains me to call it that, sorry])

  25. Annie says:

I love Salvador Dali’s art. I think Robert Pattinson is a very nice guy, someone I’d like to be friends with, but I don’t think he’s the best actor out there either. I don’t know how easy it would be for ANYBODY to portrait someone as complicated and “unique” as Salvador Dali, but the reason I wouldn’t watch this movie is not because of Rob, or because of the mustache. I just don’t like movies with explicit sexual content. This movie (for what I heard Robert say about it) it has some very strong sexual scenes in it. I am not being close-minded, it is just my preference and my personal point of view.

  26. Patty says:

Wow!! From what I have seen of the movie he is an AWESOME actor. Cant wait to see the movie!!!

    Dido Arazcal!!

  27. RainFan says:

I agree with Ma… EWWWW! I don’t know when this was filmed, but I can see him doing this on purpose in hopes of getting some of the fans to calm down and leave him alone. I will be skipping this movie…

  28. Jackie says:

Wow! I did not know what to expect but once he started talking he blew me away! It sounds nothing like him, the accent is great!
This film will definitely show that he is an actor not just a “teen heart throb”. Plus, I like that he is doing different roles because if he didn’t he would always be “Edward” and nothing else. This is going to show his versatility.

I cannot wait to see this movie!

    Go Rob!!

  29. twilighted says:

I’m definetely intrigued. Can’t wait to see more. This will be tough for poor Rob, because Dali was an incredibly complex individual. I suspect that many people will not like this movie, and Rob’s (Dali)character. The trick will be descerning whether it is Dali people are put off by or Rob’s portrayal of Dali. I for one, cannot wait to see what he can do, but I have to say that the few clips I have seen have truly piqued my curiosity about Dali and made me anxious to see more of Rob on the screen as something other than Edward (though I love Edward, too).

  30. Jules says:

This will show case Rob’s talent as an actor. Some one asked when he filmed this movie it was long before he was in Twilight. Anyway, this is a challenging role and I’m sure he will do well. Robert is an actor portraying Edward Cullen he is not Edward. I can’t understand why people don’t get that. How long have there been actors, everyone should understand that the actor isn’t the real person or the character, unless they are playing themselves.

  31. Mel says:

Little Ashes was filmed loooong before Twilight. Rob’s an ACTOR and playing a ROLE of a very famous artist. Thats fine you don’t want to see it, but to say he filmed it on purpose is low and pretty shallow. This will only show how diverse an actor he is. Its not fair for him to be stuck with the Edward Cullen persona.

  32. Sugary Giggles says:

This little clip gives me a slight bit more of hope that the extreme awkwardness between Bella and Edward through the entirety of Twilight was more a directing issue and an acting issue… hopefully New Moon will be a little bit better in that respect.

  33. LipsLikeSugar says:

I can’t WAIT to see this film, it looks beautiful.

  34. GenevieveCullen says:

    Thank you arazcal!

I don’t know much about Dali. I actually had to wikipediad him (yes, inaccurate I know, but I wanted the gist). And Dali seems to be just as absurd as that moustache (which makes me laugh every time I see it).

From the clips I’ve seen, Robert really demonstrates the eccentric personality that Dali seems to be known for. And if any of you have seen The Bad Mother’s Handbook (it’s on youtube) you would know that Rob does an excellent job of awkward/slightly shy adoration that would transfer well into his relationship with Lorca.

  35. Meg says:

I hate absolutely everything about this movie. I wish it didn’t exist.

All I can say is, “Why, Rob? WHY?!?!?!”

  36. Rochelle says:

Until this clip I was most anticipating How to Be, as far as Robert’s upcoming films go, but now I’ve found it is a toss up. His versatility is a thrill, and I personally can’t wait to see him in rolls that have no similarities to Edward. I was completely transfixed by his performance in Twilight, please don’t misunderstand me, but that was more about him playing “Edward.” It would have been hard for me to be disappointed. With Dali and Art we’ll be able to see Rob take on polar rolls and really flex his abilities. Gay scenes … who cares? Very little of what is on screen is “the Robert Pattinson” anyway, it isn’t as if he’s gay or has a psychiatrist living in his home, piecing his life back together for him. So, wonderful clip that really showed a broader sense of the film. May cannot come soon enough!

  37. edwardcullenfan#1 says:

OMG! this is weird… I absolutely dont like him as Edward at all but hes pretty good in this movie. He will never be good looking enough to be Edward though and hes to stiff… not to mention the eyebrows???? yeah but this is a movie he SHOULD be in lol

  38. laces says:

I agree that Rob is a great actor and will no doubt play Dali amazingly well. However, I am concerned with all the really young girls going to see this movie simply because Rob is in it, without understanding what it is about or the sex scenes involved. After reading the article in GQ, I hope parents KNOW what is going on in this movie before taking their girls to see it.
    This is not for children!!

  39. snark says:

busted my ass, there is more than one twilight fan at this ip address. tl- you are a bunch of ass kissers to all the media industry, and are just looking for a free hand out where ever you can get it. and y’all are huge hypocrits as well, tl:”we dont cover the rob bo crap, were above making dumbshit postings cause things are slow” hmm well how about all your little questionaires like should fans be allowed to watch the filming or not?; is american idol fixed because of edward cullen? just put up to make a fuss between twilight fans. tl: “well thats called a discussion” no thats called making crap up because its a slooow week. now please, dont delete my post because it has a few swear words, just put a cute little “pg13″ warning on it to warn people. oh shit, im not a celebrity, you wouldnt kiss my ass like that. oh well. but y’all have fun with your hobby of “ip tracing” everyone’s comments

  40. Rachel says:

WOW. Really, WOW! I was honestly surprised at how excellent he is! I mean, what a departure and growth in maturity and range; I loved him as Cedric, and he didn’t have much to work with in the Twilight movie, but wow. Both How to Be and this are going to be FANTASTIC.

PS – Meg, what is your problem? If you know ANYTHING about Robert it’s that this sort of role suits him much more than any of the others he’s played, especially Edward. Just because you have a problem with mustaches and gay people doesn’t mean you can’t recognize superior acting skills.

  41. Kerry says:

    Wow! Go Rob!

  42. Alyssa says:

You seriously do not want to see this movie!!!!
Rob Pattinson… well has a super ,intense ,long ,gay sex scene….
    Poor Rob!!!
    :(

  43. Paolina says:

I am pretty excited for the release of this film, and I’m hoping to see it with my best friend (who is gay, I know he’s gonna LOVE it). I really like Salvador Dali. He is an eccentrically complex character and I just really adore his art and bizarre flamboyancy as an artist and human being. It will be very interesting to watch Robert’s portrayal of this artist and I am hoping he will do a good job of it.

To all those that only see Robert as Edward: Every single one of you have probably the most narrow minds that I have ever seen. Really, is that how you guys classify an actor, just by ONE role he played and you happened to like that character so much you only identify him as the sole character? You guys needed to understand that as an actor, Robert wants to broaden his horizon for various roles. It may be difficult for him to portray a homo/bisexual but he is giving it a shot and remember that it is NOT Edward, but Robert – an ACTOR. This sort of narrow mindedness makes this fanbase look purely unintelligible and gives an outsider a poor look into the Twilight Universe.
