Rachelle LeFevere On Doing Victoria Again

Rachelle Lefevere talked to the Vancouver Sun about growing up in Canada and how her roots have kept her grounded in Hollywood before and after the Twilight experience.

“I’m not criticizing the States at all. But when you’re raised in Canada, you’re brought up with a different appreciation of difference. We have the mosaic model instead of embracing this general trend of assimilation — where people are encouraged to believe in the same things,” she says.

“I was taught to be inquisitive about people and to respect their uniqueness.”

She’s pretty darn cool, still hope she doesn’t have a big part in New Moon though.

  2. Junkie1 says:

Can’t wait to see New Moon. BTW, Hardwicke’s new book makes me want to read the books and score the Twilight dvd asap!

  3. sue says:

Hmmmm…..I think that she was kind of criticizing the states…I too hope that they stay true to the book and don’t give her a bigger part.

  4. Swan says:

“I was taught to be inquisitive about people and to respect their uniqueness.” Brilliant!

  5. Deanna says:

Aww I love Rachelle. Being Canadian myself I can totally understand where she is coming from. And NO she is not criticizing the U.S. at all.
And I don’t think she will have a huge part but you know how at the end of the Twilight film you see her at the prom??? It will probably be something like that. Just a little scene or two to make the audience aware of her impending danger.

That’s just my two cents :)

  6. Zookie Monster says:

“I was taught to be inquisitive about people and to respect their uniqueness.” — Man, I wish the States were more like that >_>

  7. Cullenizer says:

I dont think she was criticizing the states at all . its what social studies tells us here . lol but yeah , when she got in the movie it got way more interesting . Kristen just needs to find her inner Bella :)

  8. Samantha says:

I love Rachelle! I think that is just a general fact about Canada, as I know myself being Canadian that we celebrate individuality. Not that the US doesn’t do this in different ways. Just some cultural differences.

  9. safina says:

I didn’t know that Rachelle was brought up in Montreal.Well, that’s just awesome because that’s where I live! Atleast I’ve found something special about this place.Rachelle plays her role perfectly.

  10. GenevieveCullen says:

Wow, I love how seriously she takes her role, getting in the mentality.

  11. Kirsten B. says:

This is why i love being Canadian. She wasn’t dissing the States at all though. Most things between our two countries are really similar, but some thigns aren’t, is all she meant, I think. Of course, I’m not her. Too bad Stephenie won’t come up here for once…

  12. Lora B says:

Rachelle was absolutely brilliant in the movie. I do hope they don’t give her a bigger part. I hope they stay true to the book.

  13. veronique1 says:

I’ve been traveling all over the States and Canada, and I find it really depends on which city you are in when it comes to valuing diversity. I found Calgary, for example not nearly as open to it as Montreal. It’s all in what you’re exposed to.
