EDITED: We noticed a couple of minor corrections/additions to the info Geo provides:
- The Walmart DVD has special features: audio commentary, three music videos and the five extended scenes.
- The Ultimate DVD Giftset (with the soundtrack, watch, etc.) is only available at Costco.
- The Ultimate Blu-Ray Giftset is available at Amazon but not until May 5.
- The single disc Blu-Ray is only available at Best Buy. It’s the same content as the national 2-disc DVD.
- Target has the only 2-disc Blu-Ray with the same items that Geo talks about when she mentions their exclusive 3-Disc DVD.
- The Blu-Ray versions will have BD-Live (that cool feature where you go online for content).

First I just want to say that I think it is cheesy that we have to buy like 3 copies of the movie to get to all the extras, but I will if I have too! LOL

Wow… for a movie that wasn’t really that good, there are certainly a lot of choices. In fact, almost as many choices as “The Lord of the Rings” collection, but which I’ve owned all the versions of, and will undoubably get the Blu-Ray version once it is released… Yes my nerdness shines through.
Honestly though, I think this is a bit of an overkill. Having so many different “versions” up front is sort of counter productive in my view. I could see them launch the initial release of the Single Disk, Special Edition Disk Bundle, and Blu-Ray Special Edition first and then later releasing newer versions with more content, but to launch it all up front, in my opinion, will just confuse people.
I plan to get the Blu-Ray version and that will be it. I like the extra features, but I’ve never seen “Store” only versions offer anything truly worthy of an extra purchase to merit getting it at any one store. Oh well…

I know that the extra scenes will be on youtube just hours after midnight so I’m not too concerned about getting a 3 disc superduper deluxe special whatever.
The movie really could have been better. I’m tempted to hold out, save up, and just spurge when they release all four movies boxed with all the memorabilia they’ve got hidden up their sleeve.
I got the Hot Topic 3 disc pre ordered DVD for my birthday, so thats what I’m getting.

Yeah Tiffany I put my kids on this problem and that is their conclusion. “you need to buy them all” and “You need to buy a Blu-Ray player”. Well being a Mother I sense that I can coerce a good deal of cooperation over this. I mean if I walk by messy rooms I might “forget” to preorder from being so upset. Amazon also has some deal where if you preorder you can watch it on the day of release on the Amazon on demand for free. I also don’t know how that works so my kids will have to figure that one out for me too. I don’t really want to watch a movie on my computer or an I-pod so I hope they put it on the TV.

If you ordered one from Blockbuster, rumor has it the first 25 to pick up their copy will get a free poster. Some stores are staying open Friday night after midnight, so you can pick up a copy at 12:01.

I totally already annoyed this blog with my comment (the very 1st one) but I felt like leaving another just to say that I don’t see how the Target one is better.
Perhaps it’s my lack of using itunes or something, but I don’t remember anything that special about it.
Nothing special enough to trump the Borders Exclusive.

I chose Target because it has a ton of extra things as in extra wise not getting a pack of pictures. We all know what those pictures look like I don’t need them laying around.
If you just want the movie because it’s cheap, get it at Wal-mart or Wal-Mart.com ($17 but if you want to up it for your buck go with Target, it’s only 5 dollars difference from Wal-mart’s price and you get two extra disks if you pick Target. Target and Amazon are partners so you can get the same prices ($22) and the 3 disk DVD.
Just get what you want but know what you’re getting yourself into. A lot of people pre-ordered from other places and now are canceling their orders because of the new choices with better offers. However, I’m sure all the extras will be on youtube for everyone to see.
I’m sure the Blu ray has it’s own special features that Target and Amazon don’t have, I’m not going to pay a lot of money for a fancy box.
I hate how 10 different stores have the rights to different set of extras, got to get as much money as possible. Just get what you want and know someone will post the extras, if you just have to have the extras then buy the most sensible one for your enjoyment and wallet.
umm… WalMart isn’t just selling the standard edition $17 DVD… they are also selling the same 2-disc version of the DVD that pretty much everyone else (except Target…3 discs) is selling. Both the 1 disc and 2 disc versions of the DVD will be available at WalMart on March 21. (says so on WalMart.com)

I’m definitely ordering the Borders one. First it seems like it has the best stuff and second because I have a 30% off coupon for any one item from them and that coupon will pretty much make it the same price as the regular edition.

ok, so i decided to get it from target, the only difference i saw between boarders and target was post cards
the dvd at costco is $20.00 i think it is the same as target with what it comes with. But i did see that they are getting the ultimate dvd gift set for $59.00. i did go with borders. there wed said i may not get it tell april 13 not 3 sorry.

Wow… I just went for the Target one. It is such a great deal! Why would you get 2 discs for $20 when you could get 3 discs for $20 plus the movie on iTunes. I have a quick question though…Is the 3 disc one a boxed set (you know..the box and have the special ed. with it) or is it the actual DVD case just with 3 DVDs inside. PLEASE ANSWER!!!!

Hey, Confused! I would get there before they open their doors just in case. But, I guess it depends on where you live. And also, if you reorder it, it probably won’t come in on Saturday. It’ll come in either the day after, or maybe a couple of days:)
so i was all set on skipping the gay midnight parties and just pre ordering it on amazon. But then i’m like, wait i can get it for 17 bcuks at walmart. so i cancled amazon. Then i saw the gorgeous case and extras that borders has. So now I am super torn between boarders and target’s 3 disk special.
So i think i’ve come to the decicion of driving 45 minutes to the closest borders and getting a rist band at like 9 in the morning (yes you have to get a wristband in order to purchase the movie at midnight unless you preordered it) Then come back again at 10 for the party and to get my border’s exclusive. But since i have a 25 dollar gift card for borders i think i’ll go to target and get the three disk special as well. The whole thinig shoud cost me 25 dollars at most.
