The LA Times column called "Dish the Rag" has a piece about products that they think Twilight is influencing. We think they missed the memo that Twilight fans don’t per say favor the goth look any more than they favor any other type of look.

Hot Topic just did a major advertising push on their Twilight movie apparel with promises of more in the future. If you are a member you get emails that feature a large movie graphic when new items come in.
When it said dish rag I immediatley thought of- yes that’s right- the Cullens. Wanna know why? Because Bella said or thought actually that they could quote “wear dish rags and pull it off” unquote. I really thought people were wearing like rags. It’s pretty cool that they are making Twilight inspired stuff. That’s awesome!I’m pretty sure that Twilight will take over the world… one store at a time! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

I just went to Hot Topic yesterday to buy the new Twilight T-shirts. Be aware, the Team Edward, Team Jacob, Twilight logo, and the poster shirt are in girl sizes (junior)!
I asked the lady if they would get anymore Twilight stuff soon. She said that the store had just gotten emails telling what’s coming. Among these are FOUR different Twilight bracelets and action figures!!! I can’t wait to have my very own Edward!!!
Is that what they meant about the black lip gloss!? A goth thing?? When I read that article I had no clue how the lip gloss was relevent to Twilight.. haha, ok…
ok SERIOUSLY why would they assume everyone who reads these books are goth honestly me and all my friends are preppy and love these books we even went into hot topic to get team jacob and team edward shirts they shouldn’t brand people for what they read
Same here,danielle15, I mean sure it involves vampires, but they aren’t the traditional Count Dracula. I mean the are unbelievably good-looking, and for the fact that it is a LOVE story. I mean I totally agree with you. I am going to go to hot topic and get the team edward shirt, cause who doesn’t love edward.
Ok, I don’t think I’m gonna be buying the black lipgloss, on account I’m not goth, and neither are my other Twilight friends. We like pink lipgloss. But I would still buy the shirts, when they get more shipped in, my store doesn’t have a big selection yet. AND I WANT ACTION FIGURES, AND BRACELETS! THAT IS SO AWESOME!
I don’t think all twilighters should be generalized as goths, I’m emo and i would never wear black lipstick/gloss unless it was halloween or something, i don’t even wear black nailpolish!
Now the shirts, bracelets, and actionfigures, maybe.
Do they really think this stuff will appeal to Twilight fans? No not really but they know that if they mention Twilight that they will get twice or even three times the amount of viewers they normally get. Totally a ruse to get my page views. With Vampires becoming the in Twilight, True Blood, and the now canceled Moon Light black becoming popular.

Ugh, I can’t stand Hot Topic. It’s the place that all wanna be metalheads go to get their band tees, INSTEAD of straight from the vendor-the band themselves. That’s where I get mine.
And I’m definitely going to stick to my own way for Twilight t-shirts…making my own. But maybe I’ll get the dolls just to be a collector or something.
As for the “Dish The Rag” article? I don’t think that the releases of all the black lip glosses has anything to do with Twilight. Twilight features vampires, but the series got popular BECAUSE Stephenie didn’t portray them in the cliche Gothic fashion!
Seriously! Twilight and its readers should not be stereotyped as goth just because its about vampires, its kind of offensive that that’s been both assumed, and taken advantage of. Like you said, Misfit, it’s just a play to get the product out. Black lip gloss has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Twilight. That said, I am so getting the shirts, bracelets, and action figures!

Grrr. Hot Topic is only in the U.S, and no where else in the world, so we can’t get the shirts in Canada.
I completely agree with Misfit and somethingawesomeis here. Can you imagine how many people are going to want to buy it now that they mention Twilight and how Rob/Edward would approve?
Okay. I like goth things. I think black is cool, HOWEVER. It has nothing to do with twilight! black lipgloss? come on. Bella wouldn’t wear it! How can they just stereotype like that? it’s annoying.
I would love if Hot topic got twilight bracelets, though. I would’ve gotten a movie tee there, but I already bought my Edward shirt from Borders. :]

If you really want to know what i think then you can read this but if you really dont want my opinon on the twilight saga read it anyway. If you have not read the saga then you NEED to read it you will fall in love with it the very first time. My favorite character is EDWARD ANTHONY MASEN CULLEN !!! if he is not your favorite character then read it again. Jacob black dont even get me started lets just say i think the story would have been better without him trying and failing to take bella away from edward. i have read this saga more than 27 times each including the recent addition as of August 2nd breaking dawn. so if you havent read it stop reading this website and pick up the book you are on and read it now. and that is all i have to say because the rest would ruin it for the ones who have not read the saga. GO READ THE TWILIGHT SAGA NOW!!!!!!
