Well, fortunately for us, our fate is better than that of Humpty Dumpty. 24601 cut a family reunion on Cape Cod short to come back and fix what had been done.
For those of you just catching up here, the Lexicon was deliberately and maliciously hacked on Friday night, by people who didn’t like the posting policy on our forums. Stating that they were championing free speech by taking our site down they destroyed 99% of the blog and about 90% of the forums. Yes, our mind boggles too. Nonetheless, we are moving on. We could be angry and bitter, but that really wouldn’t solve anything. So, we are back. If this site is what you are looking for, fantastic. We are happy to provide something that works for you. If it’s not, no hard feelings. There are a ton of other Twilight sites out there. Check out Stephenie Meyer’s official site, there are at least 30 possibilities there and even more if you do a little exploring on Google.
Lastly, please bear with us was we get everything back in working order. We are probably going to be switching over to a new 3 column skin for the blog, so we aren’t putting too much into the design of this one since it’s a temp, but we really wanted to have something up rather than nothing. We are still working on resurrecting the forums, we hope to have them up in a secure fashion later this week. We have to make sure they are as hack proof as we can get them before we have to deal with this all over again.
If you are looking for the character bios, timeline, personal correspondences, etc. they are all back and not one word, typos and all have been changed. You can find them under the tab at the top above the picture labeled "The Lexicon". We’ve seen a lot of people saying "the Lexicon correspondence said…" and then we have been misquoted. You can see for yourself what is there, and if you don’t believe us check out Wayback Machine and they will confirms it.
Last, but not least, thanks to the support we have received from hundreds of individual emails, and from other sites. I got the email, too. I hope it isn’t a virus. If it is, well, I get a new computer in a month or so. I hope this one lasts that long.
So they had access to our accounts and our emails. Is it possible that they could hack into other things with this information? I’m wondering if I need to go on a password changing spree (which I shouldn’t, because I use different passwords) but just to be on the safe side…

It is sad that people feel the need to do that. I’m glad you guys came back though and didn’t give it. I’m here to support you 100%. I did get the e-mail, but I didn’t since I saw the lex had been hacked and it had a strange topic thingy, so it sits in my inbox unopened.

I tried to come on the site but it wasn’t working and I checked my email and saw that message too. I was like What the heck?! but then I figured out what must have happened. Unfortunately, I am not as nice and mature as you guys and I am very mad at the stupid hackers.
Btw, what didn’t they like?I didn’t understand why the hackers were mad in the first place.

i think whenever we get back we should post a big thank you thread, cause thats about all i can come up with that we actually can do, and tell them how much we appreciate them.

I got an e-mail that had an odd title from the the Lex when it was down, i haven’t opened it, but was it sent legitimately or not?
no dont open it Lauralai. was the subject something like “hai hia got u” or some dumb crap like that ? apparently the emails had a virus in them. read through the comments here, a lot of us got those emails, probably everyone.

If you got an email with the subject of “HAI HAI U U” from the lexicon, just erase it. That’s the email that the hacker sent to a lot of users when the site was hacked.

Though I’m an anti-Twilighter, I agree with the fact that this hacker was very immature. Though they might have hated your methods, hacking was no way to go about fixing it.
Appreciate it, and we are totally cool with what your site is about. I many not personally agree with it, but you have every right to make that the focus of your site. You have a vision for your own, and you have just as much right to exist in the manner you want as we do. Good luck with your site, I mean that sincerely.

The Lexicon is back! I don’t know why people would be so mean and stupid. I’ve seen sites for other fandoms that have enemies, but the Lexicon has always been so respectful and kind to everyone (who deserved it anyway). That’s one thing that impressed me so much when I first came here last year. Alphie, Pel, and all the rest of the lex staff: you’re doing a wonderful job and providing a great place for us to share our Twilight obsession. Thank you, and through the idiots who feel a need to wreck everyone else’s fun, remember your loyal members who will always back you up.

Pity the lesson about ‘freedom of speech’ wasn’t taken to heart, though. Would have been nice if y’all listened to that bit; then the forums would be closer to legit discussion and further from only drooling and absolute worship of Ms. Meyer allowed And the email message was cute; that hacker was pretty amusing. This should happen more often.
Sorry that you’re incapable of reading friend. Any website can decide it’s content. If you want to interpret our’s as drooling and worship that’s your perogative. It’s also our perogative to run it that way. There is no encompassing definition of what a forum has to allow. If you don’t like what’s here, than nothing is keeping you here. Find a non-drool site that works for you, or found one yourself.

ahhh, freedom of speech. what about the Lex’s right to their freedom of speech? Who appointed the hackers in charge of deciding exactly what the definition of that is? They must have felt somewhat threatened by the content of this website, which doesn’t spew negativity. hmmm…. kinda ironic isn’t it? They are perfectly free and welcome to start their own website where they would be free to express their views in a manner which they feel is best for them. America’s a great country, isn’t it?

I am SO glad the lexicon is back! I love the new look too! Question though…it might be kind of a no-brainer, but I’m not thinking too well today…do I need to re-register when the forums are back up? I just noticed you were using a different provider.
Good for you guys for defending yourselves against these spurious charges that you changed things. I already verified in the Wayback Machine that the physiology and pregnancy sections were unchanged when the charges started flying around my lj comm. Some people just don’t want to admit they were suckered by a post on IMDB, which is scary.

I agree with Brenna. You can’t fix stupid, can’t fix ignorance, can’t fix hatred. All of you at the Lex have taken the best road….the high one. You have given us a place to come and live another life with another family. We can never say thank you enough. Thank you for your courage and dedication!
Well I’ve obviously been living under a rock these few days, because I had no idea what happened! Jeez some people are just plain stupid. I understand the need for free speech… but hacking into a website dedicated to a fictional story? Really? SERIOUSLY??! I wish people wouldn’t waste our time with such childish antics, they should instead invest themselves in things that really matter in the world (not that Twilight isn’t important, because obviously my life has been forever changed by reading this series… but you get what im saying, right?).
