Oh, I feel bad for the uk twihards but atleast it’s only a day and not a week!

  2. drcrzy says:

Ahh, I love Twilight Guy’s commentary. haha!

  3. Venice says:

    I have family in Manila.
    Filipino prideee. Yessuh.

  4. Melissa says:

They say in the manila times that Edward holds back from bearing his fangs??? Thats wrong, SM vampires dont have fangs…He should know his facts before he pushes the print button

  5. understatement says:

in the article, the newspaper ppl said and i quote
“But when Laurent and James, the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, come to town, Edward suddenly has this insatiable desire to taste Bella’s blood?”
    1. that isnt even a freakin question
    2. VAMPIRES AREN’T MORTAL u dumbnuts
    3. he does NOT get a desire to taste bella’s blood. in fact, edward doesnt want to suck the venom out of bella at first, of course her life was a stake so he did…….the people writing the newspaper srsly need to proofread their material, and accually READ THE BOOK

sry to the ppl reading this but i really need to get it out:
“The characters of Bella and Edward are so contradictory that it makes their love story even more fascinating. The powerful and compelling gothic atmosphere of the story is balanced by the light and playful nature of the characters, especially Bella”
again this is straight from the article(i copied and pasted it).
    1. gothic? wtfreak?? it iz sooo not gothic
    2. light and playful nature……especiallly bella???????
wth iz that supposed 2 mean??? there is freaking vampires killing one another and that iz light and playful????
again, sry for rambling but i get soo mad 4 som reason wen things like this happen….especially wen they say that twilight is for teen girls….twilight is for everyone

  6. Banana says:

OME I USED TO LIVE IN MANILA!! FILIPINO PRIDE!!

Even though they got a lot of stuff wrong… meh

  7. understatement says:

i didnt catch that one detail melissa. thnx for further proving how stupid newspaper reporters can be

    =P

“when you can live forever, what do you live for?”12/12!!!

  8. Taxi says:

They should do a tour in July. *coughcough*

  9. Venice says:

Anyone read the 17 questions Robert answered? Meheh. =]

  10. Venice says:

I forgot to add that you can see it on the Seventeen Magazine site…

The link is in the news post below this one.  ~Admin

  11. Sarah says:

OMG, they got sooooooo much wrong in that stupid article. They say that Charlie moves away when actually Renee left. Obviously Charlie wouldn’t leave if he still has feelings for Renee. Also, Phil plays baseball, not basketball. Vampires are not mortals. Victoria should be included with the enemies but how could they be enemies until after James went after Bella, they didn’t even know the Cullens. And Edward has ALWAYS had a strong desire for Bella’s blood, it didn’t just pop up suddenly! Actually READ the book before you publish some article people!!! And i’m sure other twihards/twilighters agree very much with me!!! Love you all.

  12. Sarah says:

And i forgot, what the hell does Telepotation have to do with the book?

  13. Aileen says:

I live in Manila, and in our office alone – a magazine publishing company – there are already about more than 20 Twilight fans.

We screamed over the trailer during office hours, discuss plot lines and Edward over lunch, and yeah, our boyfriends and husbands are a bit pissed. Oh, and we plan on making t shirts. (Our guys’ shirts will read “I hate Edward Cullen.” Haha)

The thing is, since December is “Metro Manila FilmFest” season, this means ALL our cinemas will only be playing local films during that entire month. This means we won’t get to see Twilight until January. Aaaaaggghhh!

So now we’re trying to support a petition started at http://iluvtwilight.multiply.com to have the movie shown – even for just one screening – here in December.

    Wish us luck! :-)

  14. Dazzled says:

    “struggling basketball player”
    Phil is a baseball player…unless I’m mistaken

  15. Dazzled says:

wow, they messed that article up left and right.
and I’m also almost positive, there is no “teleportation” in Twilight.

  16. Elena Cullen says:

i’m going to make the random guess that the cover for BD has a red/black theme to it…random, right…no guess as to the picture, tho…..

  17. Onyx says:

THERE IS A NEW PICTURE IN THE GALLERY OF THE OFFICIAL TWILIGHT WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!
    ;)

  18. sprtygal says:

I just wanted to tell you guys I’m loving the new format of the news page! What a fun idea to have picture links. It makes reading the headline news more fun!

  19. Millette says:

Guys, you’re absolutely right. The Manila Times review has got to be the sloppiest, most absurd article I’ve ever read about Twilight. I am so pissed because I’m a Filipina, and it’s embarassing that a writer from my country could totally mix up her facts and publish something without REALLY READING THE BOOK. I assure you, that writer is NOT CHARACTERISTIC of our country’s hard-working journalists. I will write to Manila Times about it, and call the writer’s attention to all her boo-boos.

Hey Aileen: I fully support your cause. We Twilighters from Paranaque, Las Pinas and Muntinlupa are one with you in bringing Twilight to our movie screens the same time as everywhere else around the world!

  20. Aileen says:

I’m from Manila and I was disappointed about this article.
    Here’s a better article: http://showbizandstyle.inquirer.net/lifestyle/lifestyle/view_article.php?article_id=93105

This article made up my mind to buy the book last year. Well, there are some errors but can be overlooked. This article was published on October 2007.

  21. Aileen says:

Please help us Manila & Philippine Twilight fans with our petition:
    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/twilight39s-movie-release-in-the-philippines

Our goal is 5,000 signatures, to help us convince Ayala Malls to screen the Twilight Movie on December 12 (instead of the currently slated January 8).

Waiting until December is bad enough. Having to wait until every other Twilight fan in the world has watched it and has been talking about it online for an entire month is just torture.

(I won’t even be able to visit the Twilight Lexicon without serious emotional repercussions!) :-P

    Please help us, fellow Twilighters!

    Thanks!

  22. joanna says:

already signed the petition!!!! wohoo!!!!! :D

  23. Jaen says:

To whoever is going to the San Diego signing tomorrow night, I’ll be wearing my Lexicon shirt with my name posted on the back. Come find me! I will be there with camera in hand

  24. Joanne says:

I don’t think SETH updated yet..unless I am looking in the wrong place…(NOTHING NEW THERE)..

  25. icky vicky says:

It won’t let me go to the petition site! I’m soooo sorry Aileen, otherwise I would sign it for you …; (

  26. C says:

    im from manila.
That article didn’t do the book justice. Edward doesn’t
    even have fangs!

and yes,January is too far away! i signed the petition btw =) screw the film fest. =P

  27. KatKat says:

I’m from Manila too!! Yah the article is soo wrong. I hope the writer knows about that. Oh, I signed the petition and ask some of my friends to sign it too! :D

  28. Heather says:

What a horrible article from Manila! I really hope they correct…well, everything!

Robert’s interview with seventeen….. Do you think he’s being serious the entire time? Him and Kristen are cute together, though.

  29. hayley says:

nooooo we have to wait until the 4th i wont be able to visit the lexicon incase of spoilers i hope this means we will get the midnight release parties bcos then it will be kinda worth it …sorta

  30. MoonStarWithWings says:

OK, please please please let Breaking Dawn come out on the 2nd in the UK.
    Please!!!
(I know you guys can’t change it, but I need to vent!)
I go on holiday on the 3rd, so it’ll be a 15 (yes, you heard: 15!!) day wait if it doesn’t come out on the 2nd.
You guys got HP7 on the same day as us! (Not that that will even compare, but, y’know) so why can’t we get Breaking Dawn???!!!!

    ~MoonStar

  31. Justine says:

fans from Manila says hi, too!

We love you, Twilight Lexicon! :)

  32. edward loves nicole says:

when i read that twilight will be shown in january, i was shocked. i hate that Manila Film Festival. they show cheap movies.

thank you aileen for starting this petition. all of the twilight fans here in the philippines appreciate what you are doing.

  33. Alex says:

I thought that Robert’s answer about his celebrity crush was hilarious.

Then I read about the release date for BD set back here in the UK, and now I’m really annoyed. Why can’t they just release it the same day? It’ll make a lot of fans happier …

  34. winter says:

just sharing a copy of my letter to Mla Times’ editors :-)
    ——————

There are so many errors in the article that I don’t know where to start. I don’t think your book reviewer read the book at all. I would like to think that I speak with authority on the subject because I’ve read Twilight and its sequels at least 4 times :-) So here:

    1) “Think vampires, werewolves and teleportation.” –> I’m sorry, who teleported from where to where? Nowhere in the book did anyone do so, even in the sequels.

    2) “In the story, the unfussy, rebellious and willful Isabella Swan moves to the rainy town of Forks, Washington to live with his father after her mother got hitched to a struggling basketball player and is just enjoying her newfound love.” –> Bella Swan is not rebellious; willfull, maybe, but not the way she is being pictured here. She moved to Forks by her own choice. Her mother’s new husband is a baseball player!

    3) “There, in Forks, she becomes an instant celebrity, being the prodigal daughter of the sheriff who moved away after her parents’ divorce without even saying goodbye.” –> First, the sentence is ambiguous. More importantly, Bella has been going back to Forks every summer. Her mother left with her when she was just a baby, so how is it possible for her to say goodbye to anyone?

    4) “He also refrains from bearing his fangs…” –> Sorry, Stephenie Meyer’s vampires do not have fangs, so there’s nothing to refrain from bearing.

    5) “But when Laurent and James, the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, come to town, Edward suddenly has this insatiable desire to taste Bella’s blood?” –> Goodness gracious. James and Laurent are nomad vampires who just happened to be at the wrong place and wrong time with the Cullens and Bella. James wanted to kill Bella and the whole family became his enemy. Laurent decided to stay out of the picture. Edward has always had the insatiable desire for Bella’s blood, but he resists this temptation.

    6) “The powerful and compelling gothic atmosphere of the story is balanced by the light and playful nature of the characters, especially Bella.” — I’m sure Twilight fans like me would agree that there is nothing gothic about this story. Part of its appeal is that the story is happening in the here and now; it can be anyone else’s reality.

    7) “What sets the story apart from the other books of similar plots is Meyer’s ability to weave a tapestry between threads of action and all-too-serious love talks between the characters.” –> This is probably the only thing that is correct in this entire article.

    8) “Twilight is currently being adapted into a film starring Kristen Stewart (In the Land of Women) and Robert Pattison (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’s Cedric) to be shown in theaters worldwide by December.” — Nope, not worldwide, although many would wish it were so. As of 23 May 2008, the Dec release is only applicable to the US.

    Thank you for your time.
    ——————————–

i wanted to write more strongly, but edward would chastise me for being ungracious :-) :-) :-)

    hugs, y’all!

  35. Millette says:

This is the feedback I sent to Manila Times re: that nightmare of an article about Edward’s fangs and other irksome plot and character distortions:

    To Ms. Gantuangco,

I would like to express my disappointment over your review of Twilight. It’s not that I question your opinion–we’re all entitled to that–but I question your facts. I assume that as a writer–for a national newspaper at that–you should have read the book more carefully. It doesn’t take a scholar to know that Edward and the rest of the Cullens have NO FANGS. Let me just point out that your article was read by an international audience, and they too were aghast at your misinformation. I hope such sloppy journalism doesn’t happen again.

    To the Editors,

    PLEASE DO SOME EDITING.

    Thank you.

*Sorry. I had to get THAT off my chest…

  36. MeBella Granger says:

Hi! I’m a new Twilight fan here in the Phils. I just learned about it a few months ago while I was surfing the net, and now I’m halfway reading New Moon, and like any other Twilighter, I can’t wait for the movie in December. I already signed the petition to let Ayala Malls have the movie shown in December (instead of January). Unfortunately, I haven’t met any fellow Twilighter here at work and none of my friends have read the book (which is a bummer bec. it’s now my favorite.)
Twilight Coven Phils. will be having a Twilight discussion at Fully Booked The Fort next weekend. If I could meet any Filipino Twilighter here at the Lexicon, I hope to see them there, if I could make it there alone. :(
I am sssoooo dying to be in the event, because for sure Twilight fans will have a blast!
By the way, I think Manila Times should try to read the book entirely before making reviews. Because for sure, fans of this series will react if they get the facts wrong.

  37. Bite-Me says:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this is a joke right?

I have to wait 2 extra days for BREAKING DAWN. Most of the Twilight fandom would have finished reading it by that time

    *dies* STUPID UK

And reading that article, it’s obvious the person who wrote it hasn’t really read the books properly (or even at all)……… DUDE!!!! if somebody is going to do coverage on a movie, book, or anything. DO THE RESEARCH FIRST
