Stephenie in the Costco COnnection and another Host Review

I know this may seem strange but there is a write up about Stephenie and The Host in the Costco Connection.   The article talks about the uniqueness of the love stories Stephenie writes and a book give away they are having.

Thanks to Alisha for the heads up.

Here is another link to a review of The Host from Love It, Like It, Hate It.

Can you tell what the reviewer thinks of The Host??

"Stephenie Meyer, best-selling author of the young adult series Twilight, has struck gold again! Meyer’s first adult novel, The Host, is sure to turn vampire-loving teens (and adults) into instant sci-fi fanatics. "
Warning there are spoilers in the review

**EDIT- The Article in Costco can be found on page 57.

  19. Dusk says:

Thanks to Stephenie, I am fully a vampire addict.
And why do all these reviews say something along the lines of “The Host is sure to turn rabid vampire fans into sci fi fanatics?”

They say it like it’s a bad thing. :(
Oh well, I have Doctor Who on tivo. See ya!
    Ahem.

  20. Aileen says:

I love The Host!!! It is a good book…. I cried at some scenes…

  21. Eden says:

Dusk, I don’t think it was meant as a bad thing, the review was very positive so I’m sure there was nothing bad meant.

  22. La tua Cantante says:

With knowing how talented and knowng how well written the Twilight Series were and still continue to be,AND after reading theis article on The Host I CAN’t WAIT to read The Host also and feel all the emotions the book will give!!! I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN REALLY INTO SCI-FI STUFF TOO so I am REALLY excited to read the Host too!
I agree with what Dusk said too.
that one article from the other day from that one person that said they didnt want to read twilight or something cause they were older, something to that affect. I didnt agree with that..There are tons of Older people like ME that LOVE anything to do with sci-fi,,vampires,or most fantasy type stories. ABARAT is one great fantasy book too!
where woud we be without imagination?

  23. La tua Cantante says:

Oh yea! also I Remeber the video interview with STEPHENIE Meyer from Borders? She mentioned that she a little afraid that her young readers will start to read the host and be like…Edwards not in this book so they wont give it a chance.
she said something to that affect.
I think everyone loves her work SO MUCH so far that more people will give her a chance on ANY or ALL of her future books!!
She’s so humble! I love her!

  24. Nadiya says:

Some people are saying the Host is better then twilight well is that truly possible o im so excited and cant wait!!!!!

  25. Leanneeeee says:

ahahaha “The Costco member says….” They just had to throw that in there.

  26. La tua Cantante says:

Nadiya..I heard that too I think Stephenie M. said that her brother enjoyed the Booh ,The Host better than his favorite Twilight Series book,Eclipse!!!
I bet that more Guys would probably give The Host a chance,BUT It’s still a Romance novel(WICH IS AWSOME!,LOOOVE them)Stepheine siad she just can’t stay away from them!
I LOVE the cover for The Host too!!! Can’t wait till it comes out! May.6.

  27. Megan says:

Please don’t get angry at me when I explain The Host in my personal opinions and thoughts.

When I read the preface and chapter four of The Host on Stephenie Meyer’s website. I have to admit I really liked the preface. I thought it was pretty interesting. But on the second hand I thought chapter four wasn’t as “addictive” as the chapter excerpt for Twilight was. There’s some people out there that have gotten their paws on advance copies of The Host and have said that they thought it was “good” or “loved it.” And if I were you I wouldn’t call it a “big sell.” We don’t know that yet. Even though our lucky friends in Europe have said that liked it and would do well.

Let me not forgot to explain what bothered me in chapter four that Stephenie maybe got a bit too carried away in the mind of her such characters. To my eyes, I think the way she “reads” Wanderer’s mind is a little too clueless for her personalitly. She just seems unsure of the world around her even though we readers are all aware that she is supposed to be superior for her “kind”. I know she’s new to planet Earth and seems curious about her new “life” and “body.” And Melanie trys to make it understandable for her to “see.”

Sorry for the novel but I hope all of this made perfectly clear sense to all of you. I hope you understand my point. Not to mention I still have strong faith in this book but have intense “visions” that this book might not do too well as Twilight did because it’s an adult book and young adult novels tend to create more profit and value. :) *Crosses fingers*

  28. Lena says:

Wow. To be interviewed by *costco* of all things. I think it’s hilarious. (Not the interview, just the fact that it’s costco…lol) I love how the managed to work in that she is a Costco member.

All the werewolf references are seriously starting to annoy me. When the idea is to get people to go out and buy Twilight (in this case is was more host oriented, but this is in other places too) the buyers/readers aren’t going to have read it, never mind new moon. Everyone is spoiling the *sequel* to the book and movie they’re promoting. It’s infuriating.

Sure, you know Edward is a vampire before you read the book, but the realizing Jake is a werewolf thing is spurred by Edward leaving, which *is* a secret… am I making too big of a deal out of this? It’s popping up everywhere, though….

  29. Cara says:

lol funny i just went to CostCo for lunch today…but I agree that The Host isnt as addictive as Twilight. However, I am willing to give it a chance and not judge the book base on one chapter (and preface) :) To be exact, I don’t think theres going to be any book thats as addictive as Twilight…hmmm..well..i love Stephenie no matter what!

  30. Lu says:

Lena: personally the werewolf references dont bother me. Anyone who has read/watched a vampire book or movie knows that werewolfs and vampires almost always come together, the concepts are never to seperate….
And also for me the whole Jacob is a werewolf thing was never really a “suprise” or “twist” of New Moon, pretty much had that pedded from the beginning, well at least the possibility was there… In the grand scheme of things It doesnt realy bug me…

In other news: i’m sorry if this has been asked/answered already but does anyone know the when the host comes out in Australia?

  31. aussie-babe says:

HAHAHA!! ive already bought The Host in Australia!!! apparently, we get it shipped here first, so yeah.
just so all u guys know,…. IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i’m probably going to be addicted to sci-fi now….. stephenies books are SOOOO addictive! :P

  32. vle says:

iam confused when she said HER brothers who is her??? is it wanderer or melanie??

  33. icky vicky says:
