Our mailbag and blog posts have been filled of requests by overseas Lexiconers wanting to know about the release date abroad for the Twilight movie. We’ve seen the rumors too that have run from it won’t go to Europe at all, to it’s going straight to DVD, etc. We thought, time to end the rumors. Let’s get information straight from the source. So we talked to Summit and this is what we have been able to find out.
- This WAY TOO EARLY to tie any date down specifically.
- It’s currently slated for a early 2009 release.
- They know that the fans want to movie sooner rather than later.
We specifically asked, "Does that mean a December 12, 2008 release is out of the question?" We were told, "Nothing at this point can be ruled out." So, what it all boils down to is give it some more time, and concrete answers will be available.
The movie is still slated to release domestically on December 12, 2008.
Overseas fans are not happy, Summit.
Its really annoying me about living in the UK. Everything would be so much easier in the US. Don’t you think. But please please Summit, release in Europe.

I don’t think it will be released early in the Philippines. If it is released on Dec. 12 or maybe Dec. 10 because they only release a new movie every wednesday, it will only have 2 weeks showing. Starting Dec. 25, all foreign movies will not be shown to give way for the local movies. But still I want it to be released early.
You know, if they want to make enough money from this movie in order to do the sequals (which lets face it, EVERY fan wants!), opening it internationally as close as possible if not the same date to the American release date is the best thing out.
I hope they try hard to get it to other countries asap.
SO many of us don’t live in America! and it’s the Foreign market that pulls in shitloads of money on movies like this.
Well, Harry Potter got the same release date in America as it did here (I’m in UK)
Sex and the City actually comes out here two days earlier *has a heart attack*
So hopefully it won’t be too long in coming out here, hopefully a day after or something.

Grrr…I was already making plans to see the movie for my B-day. If they move it back to 2009 I am going to be SOOOOOOO MAD!

I hope they do not release it any later then Decemeber 2008.
They should release it world-wide on the same date, so every countries can see it, if this does happen, less people are upset and there aren’t many people giving it away the movie.

I live in Australia as well, and it would seems to be annoying to have to wait for so long. If Australia doesn’t get the same date, I might have to join g and start saving up for ticket…. Must get my cousin to save up as well, I suppose..lol.

I live in the Philippines just like joanna. I just hope it’s not going to be released later than 2008 or, if it really does have to be realeased later than 2008 then, I hope it’s Jan.12009. HAHAH. I’m also thinking about saving up for a ticket. HAHA. We just can’t wait any much longer. It’s freakin’ me out.

I am so lucky to live in U.S.A! Is the movie going to be in English when it is released internationaly or in what ever language they speak? I would love to c the movie in Russian!
They do realize that if the movie doesn’t have a worldwide release date then fans outside the US; such as myself will go through other means to see the movie.. Until they can see it in the cinemas back home of course.
It’s the same as the Harry Potter movies really… If they don’t have a world wide release date fans end up downloading the movie illegally and doing whatever they can to see the movie as soon as it comes out.
Do they really want this to happen with Twilight too??

They must have an International Simultaneous release for Twilight! Im fm the Phil. too , and I cant imagine waiting another few months to watch the movie
I agree that if it’s not released at the same time worldwide, people will be downloading it. Surely films released before Christmas will get more money anyway? Due to Christmas hols etc.

Twilight is surely an international phenomenon (Norwegian Twilight fan here!), and I really hope the movie release will reflect that…
There is a petition for a simultaneous international release on PetitionOnline.com (just type the word “twilight” in the search engine on the left, it’s the first one that comes up). It’s worth a try!
Oh no… I really hoped they wouldn’t say officially that the movie will probably not be released the same time in Europe… I would love to go quickly to America, but Germany is a bit far away and I’m afraid it would be very expensive…
Of course the time we will have to wait, will be terrible but I’m sure there will be a lot of spoilers…

December is too far away!!! i have been waiting forever for this movie to be made!! I’m even waiting for the fourth book in the Twilight series to be released. THIS IS TORTURE!!! o well…i guess i’ll just have to wait like the rest…it’s ok….i’ll just read Eclipse for the 20th time…

I live in Puerto Rico! We almost always get the movies at the same time as the U.S, even a day earlier. One of the few movies that had a late release was Juno! I was so mad!! Hopefully that won’t happen again!

I live in Spain and i can’t wait so long! If I be able to dowload the film with Spanish “Sub” I will be do it! And I’m sure that the rest of the spanish fans are thinking the same about it.

I discovered the books just some months ago and practically devoured them… sometimes the were SO my emotions.. i can’t wait to see it on film!
i’m from the philippines too…i really hope the movie comes out on december 12 here! but you know what was weird? the host came out a lot earlier here…i saw it in bookstores during the 3rd week of april (i bought it, of course! LOL). i hope that’s some weird sign that we’ll have the twilight movie come out december 12. i wish!
