Revamping of the message boards

Announcing: Sparkling in the Sun Forum Rehab!

Occasionally forums on the Lexicon need rehabilitation. They become addicted to IMing, and off topic posting. When this happens we hold a massive intervention and send the Forum to Lexicon Rehab. The Sparkling in the Sun Character Discussion forum has just returned from Rehab, it saw Lindsey Lohan while it was there and tried to convince her to read Twilight. Sadly she refused. We do have high hopes however that like Lindsay, it will now be on a better track. Now it’s back and ready to do its job as nature *coughPelcough* intended. Which is….

A SERIOUS character discussion Forum.

From now on the Sparkling Forum promises that you will have a place to have meaningful discussions on the characters in Twilight. A place to have deep, heartfelt, communication on the characters behavior and attitudes. This forum is not to be confused with a debate forum. We have threads for that already over in Quench Your Thirst. This is a place to discuss, peacefully, the characters of Twilight, and express your thoughts in incredibly longwinded posts, complete with quoting and obscure references. In other words discuss away, but save the intense, nitty gritty, devil’s advocate debate for the debate threads. They are fairly easy to spot in that they have a vs. in the title or they have a specific topic posted that members debate upon for several pages or so before moving on to a new topic. We are not saying the character forums have to be totally fluffy, just fluffier than debate.

The following types of posts will be deleted or edited by Mods without warning:

  1. IMing (Things like, "i’m bored", "why isn’t anyone posting", "Be back after dinner")
  2. Off topic posting (Things like, "You know Jacob reminds me of a day at the beach. Anyone ever been to Daytona?)
  3. “OMG He’s So Hot” (Suffice to say that the vast number of visitors here find Jacob and/or Edward…well…hot, desirable, fantasy worthy, and I think I better stop there before violating the site’s PG-13 policy.  In any case, we get it, we all get it no need to add to the never ending squee. Have a loves fest on your MySpace account not here. Too much condensed squee breaks teh sound barrier and annoys the neighbors.)
  4. Casting Discussion Posts

Also on tap for this week:

1) Look for the merge of the Eclipse Forum into the Quench your Thirst Forum. This is a normal procedure as many of you remember from New Moon’s Release. Now that the book is widely available there is no need for a separate discussion forum. Your post counts should not drop, however if there is a duplicate thread in both forums we may choose to lock one and move the discussion to the other. The software does not allow for us to combine threads or we would.

2) The final New Moon discussion questions will be posted very soon, be on the look out for those. As soon as that is complete we will be beginning our chapter discussion of Eclipse. This should be a very good discussion be sure to post your thoughts on the questions asked.

One final note. When the Messageboard is down please don’t use the front page comments as your own personal sounding board. Log onto chat, send an e-mail, go read a book, whatever, but stop using this page as a chat room. Reading endless off topic replies is annoying to our members.
