News and video from the GA signing
Posted by Twilight_News_Updates - 16/09/07 at 04:09 pmThis comes from one of our mods – bronzehariedgirl – who went to the book signing in Georgia.
Alpharetta, GA signing 9/14/07
Line cards were given out starting at 11:00a.m. I arrived at the Barnes & Noble store around 11:30a.m. At that time the line was wrapped around the side of the building, but moved very quickly. I had been in contact with Dan Coffer, the Community Relations Manager in charge of running the event. I went inside to find him and say Thank You for answering the many questions our members had about the signing. He explained how they planned to run the event. I left for lunch and came back to the store around 3:30p.m. There was already a crowd there waiting around. The store was putting together a scrapbook for Stephenie so I went to get my picture taken and then sign the scrapbook. After that I started walking around the store taking a few pictures until it became very obvious that I needed to find a spot where I would be able to see. Around 5:30 the store opened up the area where the Q&A would take place and I found that I had no choice but to move forward with the wave of humanity. I ended up standing, pressed up against a speaker, at the edge of the group sitting on the floor. I didn’t always hear the questions being asked, but I had no problems hearing the answers!
Video #1 – The crowd about an hour before Stephenie arrived
Stephenie came out promptly at 7:00 and began the Q&A. Most of the questions were things most Lexiconers already know the answer to. I filmed video of Stephenie’s answers to what I thought were the more interesting questions.
Video #2 – Question: Any significance to Quil imprinting on Claire?
Video #3 – Didn’t hear the whole question – something about Edward being controlling and things that have been said on the internet.
Video #4 – Question: Did the newborns feel guilty about killing all those people?
Video #5 – Couldn’t hear the exact question, but something like: Why did you make your vampires different? Why don’t they burn up in the sun?
Video #6 – A teacher asked, “What kind of student were you?”
After the Q&A the line was formed for the signing. After getting my books signed and speaking to Stephenie briefly I started walking around taking pictures of original shirts and a few costumes. We had Isabella Cullen dressed up as Bella in her prom dress and cast. She even had a bandage on her hand from punching Jake and she was wearing a bracelet with a heart charm and carved wooden wolf. There were a couple of people dressed up as Voluri – dracoangelica and iceprincess (sorry if I got this last name wrong, I met so many people it’s hard to keep the names straight) and someone dressed up as Alice. I found one group I had spotted while waiting in the crowd. They appeared to be a family, each with different sayings on their shirts. I absolutely loved the youngest girl’s shirt which said, “Edward, forget older women. Wait on me!”
When I left around 10:00 the line was still very long and several people were looking very tired.
Thanks for your hard work, BHG! You rock!

I WAS THERE! Why no picture of me?! O well…
Horray! I was there, too! It was nice to meet you! Thanks for taking our picture
Yeah I was there till about 11:000 stupid… bright pink card. I was so ready to burn it. But I got my book signed and Stephenie laughed at my shirt so I was good.
Ellie
P.S. I saw someone as the Volutri and my mind immediately visualized when getting into there car and then the radio blaring something like “I’m bringing sexy back!” or “I’m a Barbie girl” lol
yay thanks for the vids!
Edited for comment.
I was there, and it was insanity – a good kind, but still, insanity!!! I am in the process of posting the Q&A on YouTube. It’ll be up later tonight. And Stephenie was so gracious and amazing – I was nearly #800 and there were SOOOOOOOOOOO many people after me.
Yeah, I was there too. I can not believe how crowded it was but it was still a blast. Bless her for coming in the dreadful rain (perfect for vampires, eh?) and signing 1,000+ books for us.
Thanks for the vids. (am I the only one that cant see any of the slideshows?)
Thank you so much BHG! It was wonderful getting to meet you in person this past weekend! ^_^
I couldn’t get over how many PEOPLE showed up! The line started early in the morning, Marissa (iceprincess263) and I got there around 10am and met up with April (Dracoangelica). We waited about 20-30 minutes (not too bad!) to get our color cards and we were the one of the last ones to receive the orange card. (the second group to get books signed.)
I’ve honestly never seen that many people all at once here in “little ol’ Alpharetta.” xD I talked with a lot of people who had come from all over the southeast to meet Steph. It was incredible.
Thank you again for posting the photos! You’re right, most of the questions asked were ones that the Lexiconers already knew, but I’m glad that the girls were able to get the answers. I was surprised, because from the massive amounts of people there, only a FEW of them were actual members here on the Lexicon.
I know my friends and I had a blast this past weekend and we’re so thankful Stephenie that you came to GA! ^_^ I do hope that she had a good visit, even with the Forks-like weather. ^_^;;
I was there at the Alpharetta signing. I was wearing a bright mustard yellow sweater with Jeans. I kept asking people if they got on the Lexicon and I only found like two or three out of the people I talked to at the signing. Thank you for posting the photos they are wonderful. I was a little disappointed that there weren’t many questions asked that we didn’t already know answers too. But I am glad that the girls did get the questions answered. When I got up to get my book signed, I totally froze and forgot what I was going to say to Stephenie, so I ended up saying something totally retarded about her hand being in total pain after signing all these books. yeah I was totally lame.
The signing was a total blast! Good job with the pictures BHG. They all turned out really great.
I hope that I get to see all of ya’ll again at the signing for “Breaking Dawn” (Whenever that will be).
The signing rocked and “Alice” and I met so many cool people. I’d like to give a special shout out to dracoangelica, iceprincess 263, and isabella cullen. You guys rock…and “Edward” rocked too!
A special thanks to BHG for launching the video clips for all of us who were not able to see Stephenie for the overwhelming crowds.
A really BIG thanks to Stephenie for making her way Southeast. We’re never too old to enjoy fantastic writing and an incredible imagination. Keep up the amazing work!
Yea!!! I was there. Stephenie is so nice!!! lol, I didn’t dress up per se, but I put a bunch of stick on tatoos on my arms. Great fun!
I was wearing a Jacey
WHAT?! my whole comment didn’t show up!! :>>>
I was there!!
you could see that back of my head!!
My friend was in one of the slideshows..the back of her shirt says “Jacob is my Home Dog”
That signing was so much fun!
I was one of the girls in the baseball t’s. Woot! We had so much fun and the drive from south carolina was totally worth it. I wish people hadn’t asked so many questions that the answers are online. We had a great one but we didn’t get picked. oh well. There were only maybe 20 people ahead of us so we got out of there by 8. the entire day was amazing.
I traveled with my three daughters (ages 13, 11 &
from NC with some friends. My daughters and I are such fans! My youngest Clowee was actually wearing the “Edward, forget older women. Wait on me” shirt! We had a BLAST!
I was there too. I was one of the lucky people who got to be the first in line. There were so many people there. I was disappointed that the questions that were asked were repeats but some were interesting.
Oh, btw, I was the one wearing “I’m with Team Edward but we’re still friends” shirt
I was there!!! Can someone post more pics? I was the one in the Edward Cullen is my heroin!!!
First off let me say hello to everyone.
i discovered twilight about 2 weeks ago and have now just finished all 3!
so of course the first thing i did was go online to find out when the forth book is out (now the long wait till august begins).
i was wondering if anyone could explain to me why if Bella is so ordinary looking EVERY guy seems to fancy her, i’ll admit that i was dissapointed by this as the idea that she was plain was what attracted me to this story.
And does anyone know if there are any plans to follow Alice and Jasper’s story for a while as i wouldn’t mind hearing more about them.
does anyone know if Stephenie Meyer is going to be coming to London to promote the book?
and finally am i the only one who thinks she should have chosen Jacob?
thanks i know that was kind of long!
HOW many times have you read all three books?
Twilight:23 1/2
New Moon:17
Eclipse:13
Sorry for missing some people. The crowd was HUGE! Dan tells me they had over 1300 people there – and those are the ones they counted as they went through the signing line. There were more that were there with someone, but didn’t get a book signed. (Parents, boyfriends). Cabingurl, I wish I had found you. Maybe next time.
Someone write a link to more pics!! Did any one see me? I was the really short person (I’m in the 6th grade) in the Edward cullen is my heroin shirt.
I was there! My friends and I had tote bags that said “I *heart* EC” on them. I’m not sure if the actual coding for a heart would show up, so I figured I’d play it safe and actually type it out. Anyway, the whole thing was so much fun!

Some more pics
BHG, my neighbor stopped by the day after the signing to talk a little. She said that they counted over 1800 people the entire evening. She also said that it was one of Stephenie’s biggest signings, although I had to disagree after finding out earlier that there were loads more people at the New England and Boston signings. But wrapping my mind around almost 2,000 people showing up at the GA signing is just….Wow!
I hope that everyone had fun!
I was one of he few guys there. You can see me here (http://s201.photobucket.com/albums/aa171/BHG1935/Stephenie%20Meyer%20book%20signing%209-14-07/?action=view¤t=100_0394.jpg) second pic of the first slideshow (right under the elephant holding up the Barnes & Noble JR. sign… so tiny).
It was fun, even though it was really loud and I already knew the answers to most of the questions…

I’m still about to have a heart attack from being there!! Did you guys see us in the front of the store crying and screaming we just met stephenie meyer!! We were one of the first to get our books signed.
It was a blast. It was so crowded though which made it so hot. Especially in the Volturi costume. I was suprised at how many people that was there that wasn’t on the lex.
I want to thank everyone that made me feel at home. I flew all the way from New York by myself. Everyone there was so kind to me. Thanks Isabella Cullen for letting me stay with you!
