Movie News

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg was interviewed by Shock Till You Drop.  She talks about Twilight and other projects.

Twilight Tuesday

MTV has an article talking about Twilight and Harry Potter bands. For our part, we still don’t know what all the fuss is about.  It’s not a competition. You can like both, either, or neither.

When MTV probably does a blog post later, we’ll edit this entry.

Larry Carrol is back (Oh Larry how we have missed you! Larry took a break to be with his wife and new baby. Congrats on being a new dad!) and has an interview with Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper in the Twilight movie.

Entertainment Weekly is listing Twilight among the top 20 most anticipated fall movies.

Elizabeth Reaser, Esme in the Twilight movie, will be appearing in a new CBS series called The Ex-List. She was recently described by AOL.com as "one of the fresh faces of the fall". Interestingly enough, Liz’s character is named "Bella".

Kristen Stewart is featured in Ellegirl Magazine where she talks about Twilight and more. Thanks to Elle (the Lexicon user, not the magazine) for the tip.

Mike Welch has updated his MySpace where he talks more in depth about his upcoming theatrical role.

Forum Status

Here’s an update in where we are with our forums. We were able to put a significant amount of work into them this weekend and they are coming along, but they probably won’t be ready for actual posting until later this week. We don’t want to promise an exact day, then hit a snag, and then have to renege.

Here is what we know for certain so far:

  1. If you want to participate in the forums, you will need to re-register(the blog is not affected). Please use your old forum name, or go for something entirely new. Be nice don’t snag someone else’s name. As a suggestion (if you are looking for a new name) but by no means a requirement, pick something non-Twilight related. People remember who you are more if it’s a non-twilight related name. Roughly 800 of you have found the forum already and done that.
  2. We were able to save in archive form what the forum looked like when we backed it up on August, 5, 2008 just prior to re-opening. We will be loading that and providing a link to it. We were unable to import the old forum into the new one. It was just too old and too broken. A lot of haphazard modifications had been done to it over the years, and it was just  a mess. It seemed a lot more prudent to start again than to constantly be struggling with something broken to begin with.
  3. What happened to the items posted between August 6 and August 8?  There was no clean backup available. By the time was got the server company on the phone we were too late to salvage the Thursday night (non-hacked) database. The only clean copy they had was exactly what we had the Friday night hacked version which amounted to only about 10% of the original forum structure. So, just as was the case with the blog, we lost about 4 days worth of stuff.
  4. We are in the process of copying over  the most popular threads and starting new ones. By "copying" we mean highlighting, cutting, and pasting the most recent post or the post that explains the purpose of the thread and starting the thread from scratch. This takes awhile. We will have our usual topic request thread because no doubt we will have missed something, and we will be happy to put whatever back.
  5. We will have Breaking Dawn discussion available in all forums. Origianlly we had thought about segregating Breaking Dawn discussion into one forum until September. However given the vast post Breaking Dawn publicity, you would have to have been sleeping under a rock not to have stumbled on the major plot points. So, it seems silly not to have Breaking Dawn discussion in all forums.

Premiere Magazine has a new interview with Kristin Stewart.

The UK edition of the Times has a write up/review of the Twilight saga.

The public library in Pembroke, Massachusetts is holding a trivia contest on the Twilight     Saga.  The winner will receive a free copy of Breaking Dawn.

And lastly, Stephenie updated her MySpace blog with a few comments about the movie date being changed.  This is reposted with permission.

Just a few things about the new release Nov. 21st release date for Twilight:

1) I have no idea how this affects international release dates. I’m not exactly in the loop on those kinds of things. Hopefully that information will be available soon. I’ll see what I can find out…

2) I’m really, really sorry for any inconvenience the new schedule is causing people. I feel your pain. Let’s just say that my Thanksgiving plans are going through a major overhaul, too.

3) Looking on the bright side, this new release date means that Twilight will get to be on more screens–a lot more. That might mean a shorter drive for some people.

Movie Release Date Change

Many of you have hit our inbox with news from multiple sources that the Twilight movie’s release date has been moved up to Nov. 21, 2008.  Here is a link to an article from the Wall Street Journal talking about the change.

Reposted with permission from StephenieMeyer.com

So, many of you have heard that the release of the sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has been moved from this Thanksgiving to next summer. First and foremost, please know that this schedule change has absolutely nothing to do with Twilight, me, or Summit Films (so enough with the imdb death wishes, okay?). This is Warner Bros. decision, and it was not motivated by anything Twilight-related.

Now for the good news! Though we’re all sad to have to wait for Harry Potter, this open spot at the theater creates a cool opportunity. The good people at Summit were thrilled to let me know that now Twilight fans are going to get their movie three weeks earlier than scheduled. That’s right—Twilight will be released in theaters November 21st! Let the merry-making commence!

Websites in The Twilight Saga

Not quite a teen? Not quite a mom? Looking for others your age who are into Twilight? Twilight Twentysomethings is looking to give you what you may be looking for. Check out their new site.

We are still in the process of rebuilding our own forums and will have news on that this weekend after we have more time to configure them. It’s too early to answer a lot of questions regarding the forums because  we just haven’t had enough time to work with the new software yet and answer accurately. In the interim two forum members (Kit and Camber) have put up a site where you can contact Lexiconers that you may have lost touch with due to the forum being down.
