The HOST IS HERE!!!!!

First stop on Stephenie’s whirlwind signing tour is Mall of America, the largest shopping mall in the country. She’ll be signing at 6:00pm in the rotunda, and this is the ONLY event where tickets are not required!

Later this week, she’ll be in Kansas, Houston, and Frisco. In fact the tickets to several events didn’t go on sale today. We’ve been hearing stories of tent cities with people lined up outside stores to get tickets. Send in your stories and pictures.  Also, if you are shopping at a Borders today use this coupon.

Reminder, Stephenie will be making a variety of TV appearances during The Host Tour. First up is a spot on CNN. The Glenn Beck Show  as featured on CNN Headline News — check your local listings.

Edit:   From Seth "Also, Elizabeth wanted me to let everyone know that the schedule of the Glenn Beck show has been changed and Stephenie’s interview will now air on Thursday, May 8th. If you are not able to catch the show, we will link to his site if he posts the interview there."

Edit: Glenn Beck airs at 7pm and then again at 9pm Eastern Standard time on CNN.  Glenn is also EXCELLENT about posting clips of his show on his website.  We will have those links available for you when they are posted.  If you have the show times for your area and they are different then what we have here comment below and we will add your area’s show times.

Also do check out  The Host Index and The Host Library run by several Lexiconers.  Or you can talk about the book on the Lexicon message boards.  Please note that the forum will contain spoilers for anyone who hasn’t yet read the book!  Also, we ask that no one use any spoiler information in their siggies or avis and banners until June to give everyone a chance to read the book and not be spoiled.

Lexiconer meets Justin Chon

This just in from Little Phoenix  who met Justin at the Director’s Guild building. Unfortunately, due to building regulations, there are no photos.

I arrived at the Director’s Guild building at 3:30, I got there, I sort of wandered, looking for him for about 10 minutes until I finally asked a guy who was on the staff and doing interview work, he went into the theater (where they were showing some film) and looked for him, then went out, got me in, and in about a few seconds of entering the theater I got to sit down and talk with Justin and his publicist (in spite of not having a ticket to the film of which they were showing, I thank the helpful staff member for getting me in). I’m friends with a good friend of Justin’s, and told them I knew Ben (the friend) and we all sat down and started talking for 20 minutes (just in case anyone wants to know, they are extremely interesting and nice people). I told them I was a huge fan of Twilight and wrote a screenplay for the book, and they were pretty interested in that. Justin asked me about my version of Eric in the script, which went something along the lines of this:

Justin: So, how did you write Eric’s part in your script?
Me: Um, like it was in the book…*distresses over Eric’s relatively minor role*
Justin: Nonexistent?
Me: Sort of…

He was fine with it, he just sort of laughed about it. We continued to talk about scripts, the film, Catherine Hardwicke, the fan base (his publicist, Anthony Turk, said it was a "crazy fanbase", which he was blown away by), and all the hype surrounding the movie. I told them I got Justin’s announcement on the Lexicon, and they were very pleased about that part. It was, in total, a very great experience to meet one of the cast members of Twilight.

Win Edward’s car

OK in fairness it’s not the same one driven by Robert Pattinson (*waves to Summit*…although I bet you could raise a ton of money for charity raffling that off), but you can win a Volvo C30 by participating in two events where the money goes to charity.

First up is Applebee’s in conjunction with the Delaware Valley Volvo Retailers in the Philadelphia, South Jersey, Wilkes Barre/Scranton, Delaware, and Baltimore area are raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Alex’s Lemonade Stand is a fabulous organization that raises money to fight childhood cancer. All you have to do is fill out a form at an Applebee’s in the above areas and donate $5 to the charity to enter the drawing. When you do, you get a $5.00 coupon off your next Applebee’s order. How cool is that?

Those of you in the Boston area have a similar opportunity.  (I am putting aside my Yankees allegiance to post this, and there is a strong possibility my Yankee fanatic family may not forgive me) The Boston Red Sox have a similar promotion. it is a raffle…the tickets are $10 a piece and the prizes are 7 World Series rings or a Special "Red Sox" Volvo C30. The proceeds go to benefit The Red Sox Charitable Foundations (usually the Jimmy fund and others like "Childrens and Family" charities). The Raffle is limited to Massachusetts residents who are 18 years or older.

Overseas Release Parties! Heads Up UK and Australia

Good news for those of you living in the UK! Borders has decided to go with midnight release parties in many of their UK stores. Kudos to Borders for stepping up in the international market as well!  Here’s part of an email received by Cullenist that talks some details.

"Thanks for your reply.  We will definitely be going ahead with some events and activities surrounding the release of Breaking Dawn on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 2nd August (the book is released here then too, not the 4th as was previously reported).

A fancy dress competition and a quiz sound like great ideas, we will definitely try and incorporate them into the day…I have been thinking about holding a party in store in the evening …

By the way, you may want to let you friends know that ALL Borders stores, such as the Birmingham one, around the country will be holding some activities on Saturday 2nd to celebrate the release.  However, you should also tell them that Oxford Street’s party is going to be much bigger and better than the others!!"

Now for those of you who live in Australia, things are starting to shape up, but they need a little help from you, the fans.  Here’s the scoop the long-time Lexiconer Alexa Stone:

"Sydney’s Kinokuniya bookstore is interested in organising a major event for the release of Breaking Dawn; they would like to have a prom like the USA did last year, but the thing is they can’t do anything if they do not have the numbers (which must stand somewhere between 200-300 people).

We have been trying to get people to let us know how interested they would be, but we are having some major trouble getting people as any place we are posting at doesn’t anywhere near get the kind of visitors the Lexicon gets in one day alone. We would very much like to have this event, which will not be going ahead if we do not get the numbers."

So, if you want to get that party rolling contact Alexa here!

To Speed Racer or To not Speed Racer…

…that is the hypothetical question Larry from the MTV movies blog is asking.

Larry states, "And here’s the rub: If you keep your eyes peeled on these here Internets at the beginning of next week, let’s just say that there’s a good chance you’ll discover that very same teaser trailer. It ain’t 1998 anymore, folks, and a decade later we’ve all become more accustomed to watching a hot trailer unfold on our computer monitors."

So, read between the lines here folks.  I don’t know about the rest of you but seeing as the Speedracer preimere is a definite maybe at best,  I’m will be tuned into MTV on Tuesday.
