Twilighters for Forks

In honor of Bella’s birthday coming up, it’s time for us to reveal a gift we have been working on for a few months now.  It is with great pleasure and excitement that we can announce the formation of Twilighters For Forks, a non-profit organization set up to help benefit the city of Forks, specifically The Forks High School.

While visiting Forks for the first time this last summer, Pel and I both commented on how the words “small town” just didn’t do the city justice.  Being from relatively big cities, we enjoyed how peaceful and quiet the area was, but we were concerned with the economy of the area.  As we took pictures of the landscape and various “Twilight” locations we both thought that if there was any way to help the small town of Forks that we wanted in on it.  We started brainstorming what could be done and wondered if the city had a means to take monetary donations over the internet.  We thought that if we could place a link on the Lexicon, we’d be able to reach thousands of Twilight fans.

Later that day, we were talking to the amazing ladies who run Infinite Jewlery Co., which manufactures Bella’s Bracelet™ and Bella’s Engagement Ring™, who were also visiting Forks.  They informed us that the Forks High School had been condemned and was in danger of being knocked down.  They expressed their desire to do something to help the city, and we said that we had the same desire.  We all knew that if the fans understood what was happening in Forks they would want to help out, too.  Through the affiliations that Infinite Jewlery Co. had made in the city and with the backing of the Lexicon, we went to various city officials asking them for a way for fans to donate to the city.  Thus, Twilighters For Forks was formed!

Now is a chance for all of us who have escaped to Forks so many times while reading these books to give something back to show our gratitude.  Just think of what a small donation from each fan could do for the city of Forks.  Give what you can!  Visit the Forks Forum website for all the details on the school and the purpose of Twilighters for Forks and the chance to help donate to this very valuable cause.

If you want to pass on the word on your own message boards or websites, please feel free to copy this post or just link to the TFF main page at the Forks Forum.  The more people spreading the word, the more good we can do to help Forks and to save the High School!

Stephenie on Ellen

Stephenie will be appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, September 17th. Unfortunately, tickets for that show are not currently available according to Ellen’s site, so set your TIVOs, DVRs, etc. Thanks to Nathania for the tip that we confirmed.

To find out when Ellen airs in your area, check out this nifty chart from Ellen’s homepage that lists both national and international airing times of her program! Too bad all shows don’t have a page like this.

Twilight Tuesday

Here is MTV’s regular Twilight Tuesday coverage. First was a response posted last night to the hosting situation, followed by today’s regular coverage.

Movie News

So it looks like despite interruption from Russel Brand, the cast had a good time at the VMA’s.

First,  E Online caught up with them, where they talked up being up for sequels if it should come to pass.

Buzznet snagged a quick interview with Taylor.

Twilight poison has some photos from the after party.

And although Kellan Lutz was not there, it seems he’s getting plenty of 90210 related press coverage, this time from an Aussie magazine. Thanks to Lauren for the tip.

MTV wants your reaction

If you caught the Twilight cast on the VMA’s, Larry Carrol asks:

Here’s what you do: After watching the VMAs, record your reaction to your favorite stars’ time on the VMA stage. Then visit our YouRHere site, register for a free account (if you haven’t already) and upload your video response by clicking on “Create an Upload.” Remember to tag it as “Twilight” and “VMAs” so we can find it.

Contest Ends September 10th

Don’t forget about the contest being run by Twilight Teez.

In the spirit of Stephenie’s contest from last year to introduce new character shirts for Bella, Emmett, Carlisle, Esme, and Jasper, we are hosting our own contest for Rosalie, Renesmee, and an alternate Edward Fan Club shirt.  The contest will be open for fan submissions starting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at 8:00 am PST, so get your imagination engines revving.  The winner for each character shirt design will receive a Signature Edition Fashion ring.  The contest will run for one week, and will officially close at 11:00 pm PST on September 10, 2008.

4. Twilight
5.  Eclipse
6.  New Moon

Australia Thanks to Jenny

A paperback version of The Host will be available for schools who participate in the Scholastic Book Fairs Program. Thanks to Heart Song for the heads up.

Video For Stephenie

As promised the fandom heard your pleas on "what can we do to support Stephenie Meyer" and the fandom united to make this video.  Stephenie, we continue to support you as a writer.  And your fans will continue to be here for you. Take a much deserved break, we’ll be back whenever you come back.

Twilight Music

Edward’s Meadow is sponsoring a Battle of the Twilight Bands contest. They are currently  collecting submissions through October, and after that voting begins.

Several of you have noticed a listing for the Twilight Soundtrack on Amazon.com. Amazon is currently listing an October 28, 2008 relase date for this product. They list the particulars of the soundtrack as being Stephenie’s playlist. We are currently checking on these details since clearly there is new material being done for the movie.
