Kellan Lutz to Play in Direct TV’s Celebrity Beach Bowl 2011

This will be Kellan’s second year playing in the game (see press release below for details) last year both he and Taylor Lautner played. In other Kellan news his movie with Mandy Moore called Love, Wedding, and Marriage just got picked up for distribution.

DIRECTV’s beachfront property in Victory Park will be the hottest spot in Dallas when Super Bowl weekend kicks-off with the Fifth Annual DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, presented by Spike, on Super Bowl Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011.

Everything is bigger in Texas and this year’s Fifth Annual DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, which has become one of the must-attend events of Super Bowl weekend, will be no exception. Hollywood’s brightest celebrities will compete against NFL greats in a no-holds-barred flag football game in front of thousands of fervent fans. The action will take place in a specially constructed 10,000 seat stadium, complete with a regulation size sand-filled football field and concert stage. Immediately following the game and trophy presentation, the crowd will fill the beach for a concert featuring GRAMMY Award-winning Maroon 5, presented by Palladia HD.

Celebrities scheduled to take the field include Josh Duhamel, Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Marisa Miller (Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated model), Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Kevin Dillon (Entourage), Chord Overstreet (Glee), Matt Bomer (White Collar), Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Jerry Ferrera (Entourage), Michael B. Jordan (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood), Dominic Fumusa (Nurse Jackie), Brie Larson (United States of TaraTM), and many more. And for the first time, the event will include celebrity assistant coaches, with Matthew Morrison (Glee) and New York Yankee Alex Rodriquez attempting to guide their teams to victory from the sidelines.

Super Bowl-winning New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will reprise his role as coach of Team Palladia HD and former University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy of the Cleveland Browns will coach Team Spike. Hall of Famer Warren Moon and Jesse Palmer will quarterback their respective teams. Other NFL greats playing in the game include Merril Hoge, Daryl Johnston, Eddie George, Barry Sanders, Desmond Howard and Darren Woodson.

The day will begin at 1:30 p.m. CST with the pre-game show hosted by Dan Patrick and Kevin Frazier, presented by SHOWTIME®, and featuring James Brown, Phil Simms and Warren Sapp of SHOWTIME’s Inside the NFL. At 2:30 p.m. the game will begin when celebrities and athletes take the field. The DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl will be played over two 20-minute halves and the action will be called by Patrick, entertainment reporter Nancy O’Dell and sideline reporter Tony Siragusa. The DIRECTV Blimp will be flying overhead to add to the excitement throughout the day.

The game and performance will air live on DIRECTV’s The 101 Network and, for the first time ever, will also be broadcast in 3D on DIRECTV’s n3D powered by Panasonic. Additionally, the game will be broadcast on all of Fox Sports Network’s Regional Sports Networks and affiliates and DIRECTV’s Regional Sports Networks, more than twenty-five networks in total, giving the DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl its biggest audience ever of more than 85 million homes.

SPIKE is a presenting sponsor of the Fifth Annual DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, which is free and open to the public. The pre-game show will be presented by SHOWTIME® and the post-game concert is sponsored by Palladia HD. Official performance apparel, footwear and accessories sponsor Under Armour® will outfit players, coaches and team captains. Participating sponsors Captain Morgan, The Hub TV Network, AT&T and Burger King will also be on hand for all the fun.
