Robert Pattinson Rings NYSE Opening Bell

It’s a little bit anticlimactic. They don’t hold up an actual bell to ring, they just push a button, Anyway, Robert Pattinson rung the opening bell today at the New York Stock Exchange.

Stock analyst Judy Khan Shaw Tweeted this photo of Rob waiting in the board room before ringing the bell.

Robert Hits the Daily Show and Gets Ice Cream

Robert Pattinson hit the Daily Show to promote Cosmopolis. He was asked about the recent Kristen Stewart scandal but pretty much ducked addressing the situation. Host John Stewart started out with a unique welcome to Twilight fans in the audience who may not have been familiar with the show’s format (it’s way different than Leno or Letterman) and proceeded to serve ice cream to make Rob feel better.

Rob Pattinson to Appear on Daily Show

Everyone has been talking about Rob’s upcoming appearance on Good Morning America, which will air live on Wednesday Aug 15.  But according to The Gossip Cop,  the first interview that Rob will offer post “the big split” will be on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Monday Aug. 13.

The story also points out that these interviews were booked months ago and that they are to promote Rob’s movie Cosmopolis.  Given how private Rob has always been about his personal life, and that we’ve actually seen him walk out on interviews that have refused to sway from they Robsten questions, we’re betting that there won’t be much discussion about his personal life in these interviews either.

Breaking Dawn on EW’s Fall Movie Preview Cover

Breaking Dawn is on the cover of this week’s EW. Bill Condon is quoted in a preview of what is to come in the issue:

“The fact is, these are actors playing parts, and maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people be reminded of that,” Bill Condon tells EW. “Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilight movies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.”

Check out EW and grab the issue this Friday on newsstands.

From our standpoint: Bravo, Mr. Condon, bravo. We are looking forward to the final chapter in a film we have been covering since 2008 and a book series we have been covering since 2006 when people said “What’s Twilight?” and “Stephenie who?” We can’t wait to see the final installment from actors, production team, and everyone who has given years to this.

Robert Pattinson in Dreadlocks

It’s a little bit of harmless fun from the Dread Head Celebs Tumblr. They are promoting the movie Hit and Run by featuring celebs in dreads. Check it out here. Justin Bieber and Mitt Romney are among their latest victims.

Next Movie Power Ranks Twilight Saga Actors

MTV’s Male TwiHard takes a look at Twilight actors using Power rankings. Here’s how they assessed Robert Pattinson’s potential career grid.

2. Robert Pattinson

Floor: Christian Slater
Ceiling: Johnny Depp

My younger readers may balk at a Christian Slater comparison, but in the early ’90s his poster hung on young girls’ walls – right next to Kurt Cobain and Luke Perry. Slater never broke out of his teen heartthrob stage as Johnny Depp did after “21 Jump Street.” Pattinson should keep looking for unique roles as Depp has and not settle for easy schlock as Slater did.

Twilight Makes E!’s Teen Choice Five Biggest Jawdroppers List

E! has cooked up a list of their 5 biggest jawdroppers from the Teen Choice Awards. Here’s what they had to say about Twilight that came in at number 2.

2. Twilight Mania Lives On: Just because the Twilight Saga is coming to a close this fall (silent tears), doesn’t mean Twi-hards are going to stop representing any time soon. Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson accepted the Ultimate Choice award for the films, and that brought them to an overall tally of 41 Teen Choice Awards since the Twilight films came out! And R.Pattz was kind enough to give his surfboard away to the fans.

An Interview with Rob Pattinson’s Heart

Black Book has released a very interesting interview from the perspective of Rob Pattinson’s heart.  The heart tells the story of Rob as a bad driver, a former smoker, and a movie icon.  It is a fun read, but please be warned that the language is a little rough in places.  Here is a sample – keep in mind that this is Rob’s heart talking, and not Rob:

After Twilight hit, things changed. Rob, as they say, broke. “My circle of friends narrowed pretty quickly.” Says Rob, “I like to be the parasite, not the other way around.” We stopped going out. We stopped performing at open mics. Now I hardly ever race anymore. Now, when he’s not being Edward or Eric [From Cosmopolis] or someone else, Rob lives like the Hermit of Silver Lake. He wakes up and makes himself some juice. He reads synopses of books on Amazon for a few hours. He makes himself soup and peruses some scripts. Largely these are just words, congealed and bland like day-old porridge, microwaved rehashes of other supernatural epics. Ocasionally, I spike when something he reads intrigues me. Like his next drama by the French-Liberian director Jean-Stephane Sauvaire, whose last film, Johnny Mad Dog, is about Congolese child soldiers. This one will be filmed entirely in Iraq. We leave next month. Perhaps there, the bullets whistling by, or at least the possibility that a bullet could whistle by, will cause me to throb. Until then, we’ll bide our time in the back of a car, idling at an intersection and waiting for the light to change. Jeff asks if we’d like to go anywhere in particular, but we’re not sure. “I never go anywhere.” Rob says matter-of-factly, “I don’t even know where anywhere is.”
