New Face Friday: Meet Erik Odom as Peter

Get to know our next nomad, Peter.  If you need a refresher on his character, check out our character bio section.

Q: When you walked into Comic-Con [at the end of the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 cast panel], you got some of the biggest shouts out of all the newcomers. How did that feel?

Erik: It was unbelievable. The only thing I could say it compared to was the Part 1 premiere when I walked down the red carpet. It’s just, you try to prepare yourself for it as much as you can, you know maybe the response will be big but maybe it won’t, you try to be ready for everything … but when it hits you, your knees buckle. I mean my knees buckled. It’s one of the craziest, craziest things. But the fanbase has always been so enthusiastic, so passionate. And I think part of it has always been a combination of people loving the character Peter and just also being on Twitter and being on Facebook and having fans reach out, just trying to interact as much as possible and including the fans as much as you can, you know. Because the fans are what make the fandom what it is.

Q: People love Peter, but they also love Peter with Charlotte. Their relationship’s really special, and I know that that’s something we hope to see on-screen, and I was wondering how far in advance did you meet Valorie [Curry], and you know make it into a rhythm with her and feel like you could portray that on-screen?

Erik:What was great about Valorie, even more so than a lot of the other vampires who I met once we went to Louisiana together, I actually – I didn’t know her personally, but we had a lot of mutual friends in Los Angeles – so through the small world of Facebook, we were able to link up after the whole casting announcement came up, and we actually grabbed lunch before we even started filming, before we left. So, we went to a place in L.A., sat down for about two hours, and after the initial twenty minutes of ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m a part of this; Oh my God I can’t believe I’m a part of this!’ After twenty minutes of us geeking out together about how cool it was, we really dug in and talked about Peter and Charlotte’s relationship and their relationship to the other vampires. You know, because the covens are such an interesting thing, they call the nomads a coven but really it’s Peter and Charlotte versus the world. You know, so we talked about really diving into the relationship, back to Maria [in Eclipse] and back to the newborn army and their relationship with Alice and Jasper, and it was just nice that by the time we got to Louisiana together, we already had the seeds of this relationship planted, you know? It was really nice. I love Valorie.

EW Exclusive Video: Booboo Stewart at Breaking Dawn Release Party With Erik Odom and Jack Morrissey

Booboo Stewart popped up at a Breaking Dawn release party in the Los Angeles area.

An especially gorgeous midwinter Friday night was not enough to deter Los Angeles Twilight fans from lining up inside the West Hollywood Target for a sneak peak of Breaking Dawn — Part 2. This infamous Target wasn’t only one to hold a midnight release party for the DVD-Blu-ray release of Breaking Dawn — Part 1 — in fact, it was one of nearly 500 – but it was definitely the only location to boast a surprise visit from one of the film’s stars, Booboo Stewart. EW was on the scene to check out the footage and chat with Stewart and the fans on their thoughts. Spoiler alert: The fans really liked it!

We can’t embed the video, but you can see it here.

Also present at the very same store were Bill Condon’s partner Jack Morrissey (find him on Twitter on Team Jack) and Erik Odom who plays Peter in Breaking Dawn Part 2. Thanks to our friend Tina Gill for sending over photos.

Meet the American Nomads: Erik Odom, Bill Tangradi, Toni Trucks

Kind of fitting on Thanksgiving to feature American nomad vampires!

Fan Encounter With Breaking Dawn Cast in Baton Rogue

A fan from Letters to Twilight was in Baton Rogue on business and she had a great encounter with the cast. She also describes the vibe of the area locals when it comes to filming in the area.

“I’m in Baton Rouge for a conference (they were really convinced after I suggested the location because “it’s more affordable and saving the extra money adds to our bottom line at the end of year”!) and have had the awesome privilege of hanging out with a number of the Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn cast. *Not Robsten. Damn.* But I have pictures to prove that they are actually here in Louisiana! I was with Erik Odom (Who? I know! He’s Peter, nomad- Jasper’s friend), Michael Sheen, and some others.

I read LTT all the time and also was curious about the lack of BR photos available. The thing is they really are blending in like regular people down here. (Like someone even thought I was Bella, told me to get on set & into bed with “Edward!” I didn’t ask questions) It’s crazy to imagine, but now that I’ve seen it myself I understand why the locals are keeping it quiet.

They are just nice people and you feel bad for interrupting them to be “that crazy Twihard” that has spotted the Twilight star. And now needs a picture… Or 3… They are just working, and have the same 24 hours in a day that we all do. I saw them in the lobby walking around and felt odd stopping them to say hi. It took me a day to speak to one. When I did he, was super nice and introduced me to everyone. It was epic.”

Check out her whole story and a bunch of photos over on Letters to Twilight.

Twilight Tweets: December 17 Update

Here are the latest batch of Tweets from the twilight stars. A big TY to Maddie for making the banner for us! We will round up the best Tweets of the cast every week in our Twilight Tweets feature!

First off it looks like the food in Louisiana is a huge hit. Mia Maestro who plays Carmen Tweeted, “Yes… I’m paid to be in New Orleans :). 1 beignets, 2 beignets, 3 beignets, 4… 5… 6… At this ingestion pace Carmen Denali is gonna be unrecognizable. Someone has to stop me!” She also gave us a picture of the local atmosphere.

Gil Birmingham seems to have found the local crepes. He tweeted “Where in the world is Gil Birmingham? Let’s see if you can guess my latest adventure location. Where in the world can you get a pancake like this. They told me it would be big…but wow!” and he gave us a photo of his food! He then Tweeted, “And yes I ate it all!”

Judi Shekoni tried out a local fried food hit, “Quiet day – tried the famous Louisana “Po Boy” today – very tasty!!”

Judi also talked about transforming into her role as Zafrina, “Gud morning All!! Its Bright & early here… realized I need to find some nail varnish remover!!! there are no nail salons in the amazon!”

Lisa Howard who plays Siobhan(It’s pronounced Sh-ah-von for you non-Gallic folks), “I’ve had my costume and wig fittings so far and now I’m off to the make-up dept. So cool:-). Chillin’ with my coven waiting to get into hair:-)” Her coven mate Marlane Barnes who plays Maggie agrees with Lisa and Tweeted, “Having a great great great time!”

Angela Sarafyan who plays is also enjoying her castmates, “I met almost all of the vamps — pretty cool bunch of bloodsuckers :)”

Erik Odom who plays Peter is also enjoying Lousiana, “There is no substitute for southern hospitality” As a North Carolina boy he should know!

Guri Weinberg who plays Stefan Tweeted on behalf of his coven mate Noel Fisher who plays Vladimir, “Hi all. hello from Noel to all of u. Sorry I haven’t tweeted back to u guys.”

Twilight Tweets-December 8

We thought we’d start doing a regular feature called Twilight Tweets. There are now so many cast members on Twitter, we thought we do a weekly round up of the most interesting stuff. Also we need a cute graphic for this regular feature. If anyone would like to make us one, we’d really appreciate it!

Erik Odom who plays Peter in response to a fan asking if he was excited, “Trust me, my walls are covered in bounce marks…and yes, I’ve been talking with my mate Charlotte (Valorie Curry) often…:). He also mentioned that he is currently in LA, but shortly heading to Baton Rouge.

Guri Weinberg who plays Stefan is already in Baton Rouge. We had a little Twitter chat with him telling him our nickname for the characters of Vladimir and Stefan—Creeptastic 1 & 2. He liked the name and said he’d tell Noel Fisher who plays Vladimir. He also promised, “Will do. I am going to post some photos of cast on our off-time, I will try and get one of us looking especially creepy.”

The cast is very limited in what they are allowed to say about the specifics of the production, but Guri did state the following:

  • “The BD costume designer, MIchael Wilkinson, did an amazing job with all the characters. So many covens and time periods to handle…”(Cameron Bright also made similar comments)
  • Bill Condon is SO passionate about BD that I imagine the crew is the best of the best.
  • I met the special effects guy…he’s from Avatar. I was excited and a little star struck.
  • I get asked a lot about the cast of Twilight. They are so down to earth, I was surprised. They totally deserve their success.
  • I’ve met most of them at a dinner in Baton Rouge for the cast, writers and producers. I was personally a fan of Peter’s.(we are assuming he means Facinelli)
  • So, now that BD filming is a week away, I am starting to get a little nervous. I think if I mess this up, BD fans will kill me! Good point, I get more than one take for scenes…plus, I could always blame Noel…;) Noel and I are VERY excited about one particular scene.
  • (In response to being asked if he has seen the movies)Yep, I’ve seen them all, I like just about anything that involves vampires, that’s the “creepy” in me. 🙂 I think I liked Eclipse best so far but BD will definitely be the best (OK, maybe I am biased)
  • (In response to being asked if he has met Mackenzie Foy who plays Renesmee)I have met her, she is the most adorable, intelligent little girl I have ever met. I absolutely will post pics. She is sweet, adorable, really smart and stealing the cast’s hearts right and left.
  • I have met Kristen, she is very kind and unassuming.
  • I think Noel is really great, Lee is an amazing actor and Rami is also great…but don’t tell them I said this. 🙂

Judi Shekoni who plays Zafrina Is fully into learning about Brazil, where her character comes from. She’s been asking Brazilian fans for things she should know. She also tweeted out her motto,  “ps My motto for life has always been : dont follow the path create your own and leave a trail 🙂 … guess thats what twitter is… :)”

Andrea Gabriel who plays Kebi is a seasoned actress (She played Nadia on LOST) but some industry items are new to her. She tweeted, “First all night shoot ever! Oh and turns out that stuff about me being a night owl is only true if I am in bed and watching bad television. Vampire schedule is in effect… I am hanging out all night going to sleep at around 6 a.m. and waking up around 1. Is that a good thing?”  Also Baton Rouge people might want to Tweet her and help her out because she having a little trouble with location items, “Oh where oh where to do laundry? Oh where oh where to find a CVS? Ah life on location.”

Cameron Bright is happy to be in Louisiana because one of his best friends lives there. As for his wardrobe, he is in full agreement with Guri Weinberg, “Holy wardrobe Batman! Wait til you all see this movie. Gonna have too, coz we can’t tell you anything…muahahahaha”

Charlie Bewley is looking forward to being in three locations, “In Louisiana for the whole of the Winter. It’s gunna be fun, cause there’s no other choice … home in UK for Xmas NYE:NYC” Charlie and Jamie Campbell-Bower had a very British humor conversation on their bringing their balls with them, and playing with them on their downtime—get your minds out of the gutter—their footballs and rugby balls. Charlie also has a film at Sundance, see an excellent article at TwiExaminer

Lisa Howard who plays Sibohan is doing her prep work, “Re-watching New Moon… Heading down to Baton Rouge soon. I’ve got to prepare :-)”
