Saturday Night Foodies, a popular food and restaurant review blog, in conjunction with 19 gourmet food trucks and other leading food bloggers, will host a special food truck event Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., in the
Verizon Wireless Amphitheater parking lot (8808 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, CA). The tailgating-type event is designed to add momentum to the ongoing two week mobile food drive taking place through Nov. 20, for Drive Out Hunger, the county’s first mobile food drive, benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank. The special Drive Out Hunger event will leverage OC DinDin-A-GoGo, a weekly gourmet food truck event managed by the Tropical Shave Ice Truck, that usually rotates eight different gourmet food trucks each week, but this time will have 19 trucks in its lineup. Attendees are encouraged to bring folding tables, chairs and blankets.
Celebrities helping to bring awareness to the hunger crisis in Orange County will be on hand to take pictures and sign autographs for a donation of 10 non-perishable canned or dry good items, per person. There will also be a silent auction, and participants will have the opportunity to bid on Lakers and Lady Gaga tickets, vacations, and autographed art, to name just a few. Billy Burke is in the upcoming Drive Angry(which coincidentally happens to be a Summit production) where he plays an over the top villain. the movie is in 3-D and co-stars Nick Cage.
According to EW:
“He made a quick — and sexy! — appearance in the series premiere of TNT’s new Rizzoli & Isles. Now Billy Burke (who, of course, plays Bella’s dad in the Twilight films) is back for more crime-fighting fun with series star Angie Harmon, and from the look of things, the sparks are definitely flying between Harmon’s hard-striving Det. Jane Rizzoli and Burke’s broody F.B.I. agent Gabriel Dean in the episode airing Aug. 30. But count on Rizzoli’s serial-killing nemesis, Hoyt, to ruin the mood.”
Pel got hooked on the series, which airs on TNT on Monday nights, after she saw the premiere with Billy Burke. You can get full episodes via the TNT official page. Billy Burke figures heavily in the first one.
Billy Burke is hitting Comic Con later this month to promote Drive Angry (also incidentally a Summit Entertainment Picture). It’s a total departure from Twilight, very dark rated R movie with Nicholas Cage. The nails he mentions in the article are in the photo that Billy Tweeted a few months back.
“There have been a number of supporting players in “The Twilight Saga” who have been able to use their newfound notoriety into bigger roles but none who have deserved the chance more than Billy Burke. Better known as Bella’s dad Charlie Swan, Burke has been working in Hollywood for almost 20 years with small roles in films such as “Fracture,” “Ladder 49,” “Along Came A Spider” and TV series roles on TV series such as “Gilmore Girls,” “My Boys” and “24.” Now, he’s getting his most significant break yet as a conniving and evil cult leader in the supernatural action thriller “Drive Angry 3D.”
Visiting the set of “Angry” in Shreveport, Louisiana a few months ago, Burke was the center of a massive action scene between his character and a vengeful father from hell played by none other than Nicolas Cage. Burke took some time off from his shooting schedule to sit down and talk to the assembled press on a very warm May night. He was as candid and classy as you’d expect for a longtime Hollywood veteran.”
You can watch Billy Burke below in last night’s season premiere (oops it premiered last Monday )of Rizzoli & Isles. Keep an eye out for Billy as an FBI agent starting at about the 8:00 mark.
TY to Kayla and others who wrote in.
Billy Burke just released his debut album, Removed. Billy went about it a very different way in that the entire effort was really what you could call grassroots and largely self-produced. He didn’t have a big label backing him, picking up the expenses, doing the marketing, etc. It was pretty much Billy, his website, his twitter, and a press release from VH1.
The unprecedented result is that Removed is number 48 on the Billboard chart Heatseekers list and it’s the number 1 on CD Baby, the world’s largest online distributor of independent music. It’s also the fastest seller ever in the entire history of CD Baby. They CD Baby staff had never seen anything like it before ever.
Billy today posted and thank you to fans on his website, “I must confess that self promotion is an animal I’ve attempted to elude battle with throughout my entire career. My distaste for it even now, will no doubt keep me from saying some things that those around me would urge me to. It is only necessity that has compelled me on this new and long awaited venture to pick up my own megaphone and shout the word to anyone with willing ears. So, I guess what I’ve learned is– if you have a mission, there is no substitute for belief in yourself and with that, there is no shame in expressing that belief. It’s unlike me to be even mildly exhilarated by ANYTHING, but at this moment, I find myself on the precipice of a new awakening to EVERYTHING. I owe this revelation to all of YOU and I just wanted thank you for it. “
Check out what else Billy had to say on his website. If you are a Billy fan, you know that his language isn’t always PG-13, but it is honest and frank.
“Nine randomly selected commenters will win an autographed copy of Billy Burke’s new CD “Removed”. Just tell us why you love Billy and maybe you’ll win!
If you didn’t already know, he plays Bella’s dad in the Twilight movies, and he makes great music too, in the vein of Bruce Springsteen with a bit of Tom Waits. It’s good swampy pop/rock.
If you’re not selected as a winner, you can always buy the CD or download on CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/billyburke
We’ll be running this giveaway until Wednesday July 7, so tell everyone you know!”
