    i LOVE taylor. He’s SUCH a good Jacob. If they replace him it’ll break so many fans hearts, esp Taylor’s :( He’s all excited for his new lines. :’( YAY TAYLOR. lol.

    They should definitely keep Taylor! You can’t introduce a character into such a huge roll, sell t-shirts and posters of him, have the fans, fall in love with him and then change the character in the middle of the series. It’s just not going to work. When people think of Jacob Black, they see Taylor Lautner’s face. I personally don’t think the size of him is as huge of a deal as much as his ability to bring Jacob’s character and personality to the screen as close to Stephanie’s description as possible, which I think Taylor has already done. The movie was such a success because of the huge fan base, and if they want to keep the fans happy and have New Moon do as well as Twilight, I think their best bet is to keep Jacob. If they try to change the actor it will make a lot of people unhappy. Better to stick with the actors that made Twilight such a success! In this debate I’m team Taylor!!! I’m rooting for you Taylor!!!

    See I even mistakenly refered to Taylor as Jacob. It’s just natural. “Their best bet is to keep Jacob” I meant Taylor.

    Taylor was the young Jake for Twilight and no one can take that from him, so everything that was done as far as shirts and merchandising is fine. But, he is s’posed to be very different Jake in New Moon. He was in Twilight for a few minutes, first book only, it’s not like we have watched hours of him. There are 3 more books to go where he is a very diff version of Twilight Jake. And his appearance DOES matter! Stephenie wrote it as such! Fans of Taylor have to be fair to the movie’s believability and a showdown between baby face Taylor & Rob is just not believable.

    I agree 100% with Janie! Taylor was hardly even in the first movie andif he stays as Jacob, he will be a major character in the next 3 movies. I don’t see how he can be Jacob as that character evolves. Any chemistry between him and Kristen also would be hard to believe.

    Appears from the direction this may be heading, Taylor may disagree with how some interpret Jacob Black compared with the choices that appear to not have been approached that includes Strait and Copon. I guess that lunch went well, he just had to make his case. We will see for sure when its on paper.

    Taylor is a four time Extreme Martial Arts world champion, why get rid of him? It would be like when they got rid of the original Evie in the Mummy 4 or how they got rid of the guy who played the friend in Iron Man. It just wouldn’t be the same. My friend and I, who is also a die hard twlilighter, have decided that if they replace him, we will go to make fun of the movie. Keep Taylor!!!

    As much as I love Taylor, I agree with janie, jf, and starfire, that his image is extremely important, as that is how Bella percieves him in the other three books. Pretty Much a Huge guy who is mostly a jerk! So I sorta think that it would be hard for taylor to try and portray that! So to me a replacement seems sorta necessary.

    This is such a dicey debate and I really think it is personal. Despite the changed descriptions of Jacob throughout the final 3 books I always pictured Jacob as he was first described. So for me Taylor works and I’d like that continuity to stay for the next movie as we are going to lose a lot of it, especially with a new filming location and director. However I do like Stephen Strait and could see him in the role. I am not a fan of Michael though and know I could not watch major parts of the following movies if he got the role. But I think it all comes down to personal tastes and what we all imagine the character and role to be, so there is no right answer for everybody.

    Keep Taylor! Because he makes a great Jacob.

    While I’ll be still be seing NM even if Taylor is not Jacob, I think my cousins and I are going to laugh our heads off in the cinema.

    Eww, I just can’t protray Copon as Jacob.

    If Summit changed actors and realised it’s been a mistake to make that decision, too bad for them. They are the ones making the profit in the end but fans are the ones who generate the cash for them.

    Good news about New Moon from director Chris Weitz:

    I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

    The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.

    I’d just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have.
