New Moon Graphic Novel Released

New Moon Graphic NovelFans who enjoyed the graphic novel of Twilight will be happy to know that the New Moon graphic novel, Vol. 1 has been released.  It’s currently available at Amazon.com for $11.32.  The art is by the Young Kim, the same artist who provided the art for the Twilight graphic novel.

Also, in case you missed it, there is a collectors edition of the Twilight graphic novel.  What’s different about this version from the original?  For starters, it’s Vol. 1 and 2 of the Twilight graphic novel put together in one book.  The cover art from Vol. 1 and 2 is combined as a poster on the flip side of the jacket cover.  Also included are 3 character bios from The Official Guide to the Twilight Saga.  The book runs for $13.88 on Amazon.com, which is a savings for any fan who didn’t purchase the books the first time around and wants the full set.

The publication of this product was interesting. At first it was a hardback, then it was a paperback that met with huge fan outcry and sales cancellations, then it went back to hardback after a delay. Well, it’s out April 30th and EW has the first look.

If you’re a Twilight fan, you’ve probably experienced New Moon in more than one form already, but now you have another. The first installment of the New Moon graphic novel—based on the story by Stephenie Meyer with art by Young Kim—will be available on April 30. In the first volume, Bella and Edward find themselves facing new obstacles, including a devastating separation, the mysterious appearance of dangerous wolves roaming the forest in Forks, a terrifying threat of revenge from a female vampire, and a deliciously sinister encounter with Italy’s reigning royal family of vampires: the Volturi.

The cover is likely similar to the Twilight Graphic Novel parts 1 and 2 cover in that the cover arts link up. Since Jacob is on the cover of part 1, likely Edward is who is holding Bella’s hand on part 2 (release date tba)

Twilight Graphic Novel 2 Debuts Tomorrow

The Twilight Graphic novel part 2 comes out tomorrow, though we are hearing a few reports of it being on shelves in some locations today. You can get a bit of a sneak peak at it via the Brazilian Publisher. Below is the press release from Little Brown.

Yen Press, the graphic novel imprint of Hachette Book Group, announced that it will publish the eagerly-awaited second volume in the graphic novel adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight on October 11, 2011. Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 2 will be released as an e-book and in hardcover for $19.99 ($22.99 CAN) with a first printing of 350,000 copies.

A visually arresting retelling of the story that has captured the hearts and minds of countless fans, Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 2 contains selected text from Meyer’s original novel with illustrations by the talented Korean artist Young Kim. Kim’s unique artistic style which combines Asian and Western comic techniques are showcased in this black-and-white graphic novel with color interspersed throughout. Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel.

“Knowing how beautifully Young Kim rendered the Twilight universe in the first volume, I couldn’t wait for this next one,” remarked Meyer. “Her illustrations of characters and settings gorgeously capture the world and are very close to what I saw in my mind’s eye while writing Twilight.”

Kurt Hassler, Yen Press Publishing Director, commented, “The first volume of the Twilight graphic novel was an utter phenomenon in the category, and the reception by Stephenie’s fans was absolutely overwhelming. It’s an incredible testament to the collaboration between Stephenie and Young Kim, and we cannot wait to be able to put the second volume into the readers’ hands!”

Guide and Graphic Novel 2 Dates

We’ve been getting hit with lots of emails of people asking two things:

1. When is the Official Illustrated Guide coming out in my country?

2. When is the Twilight Graphic Novel part 2 coming out?

Here’s what we found out via Little Brown:

They don’t currently have a release date for the Graphic Novel part 2. We are guessing that the reason the image for the graphic novel 2 appears on the inside back flap of the book jacket of the Official Illustrated Guide is that publishers tend not to change up what is on book jackets to save printing costs. Though the part 2 isn’t currently out, one day it will be, and fans will be reminded of these items.

Here is what they told us about dates for editions outside the USA.

April 12
UK (note the UK has Australia, New Zealand, India, Ireland, and South Africa in its distribution)
France
Italy
Netherlands

April 13
Germany

April 18
Brazil

April 26
Denmark

May 15
Mainland China
Fall 2011
Spain

That’s all they had for now and they said they’d give us other dates when they have them. If you don’t mind an edition written in the English language, both Amazon.com and Amazon.UK do ship to other countries depending where you live.
