Video: Twilight in Volterra

The filmmakers that brought us Twilight in Forks have just released a new video called Twilight in Volterra.  Here is the full information:

With the release of the Breaking Dawn Part 2 movie and DVD, fans of Stephenie Meyer’s beloved Twilight Saga have been left thirsting for more of her fantastic world of romance and fantasy. Now fans can rejoice with the release of Twilight in Volterra: set in the real town of Volterra, a sparkling gem nestled in the Tuscan hills of Italy, this documentary explores the locations Meyer so carefully describes in the Twilight books.  Twilight in Volterra (www.twilightinvolterra.com) is available worldwide.

Four-time Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Jason Brown takes you in stunning HD through this beautiful Italian town in Tuscany.  Fans can visit the spot where Edward nearly took his own life to save Bella, and drive in real time with Alice and Bella on their frantic dash through the Italian countryside to rescue him. See the beautiful and formidable Piazza dei Priori clock tower strike noon, the Palazzo Viti, which marks the seat of power for the mysterious vampire Volturi, and hear their historical secrets revealed by Volterra locals.

Viewers will gain new admiration for the accuracy with which Stephenie Meyer brought this town to life, even though she had never set foot in Volterra before penning New Moon.  From the hints at magic and mystery on every corner to the fascinating traditions of the residents, Volterra is revealed as the perfect setting for vampire lore.  It’s the glamorous world of Twilight like you’ve never seen it before – even in the Twilight movies, which were not shot in the real Volterra but two hours away in Montepulciano!

Produced by Jason Brown and York Baur, this family-friendly documentary is a must-have for Twilight fans of all ages.  If you enjoyed Twilight in Forks and Destination Forks, Twilight in Volterra is a must-have to complete your collection.  It is available on DVD at Amazon.com, for download on Apple’s iTunes and Amazon’s Instant Video services, and on-demand through the Comcast, Xfinity, Cox, and Time Warner, and Bright House cable television networks.  For more information, visit www.twilightinvolterra.com, and join the conversation on Facebook at www.facebook.com/twilightinvolterra.  Members of the press can download the Twilight in Volterra backgrounder and request interviews at www.twilightinvolterra.com/contact.html

Breaking Dawn DVD and BluRay still rocking sales charts

According to THR

The top-selling disc of the week was either Walt Disney Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph or Lionsgate’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

It all depends on how you look at things.

Disney’s animated feature topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks overall disc sales, its first week in stores. The film, which earned $187.9 million at the domestic box office, also debuted at No. 1 on Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart for the week ending March 10.

But in terms of total unit sales, the crown goes to second-ranked Breaking Dawn because it was available in several different configurations that are listed separately on the First Alert chart – including a Wal-Mart-exclusive two-pack that also includes Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

Breaking Dawn DVD is Breaking Records

According to Variety,

Showing continued strength of the “Twilight” franchise, Lionsgate has sold an estimated 3.85 million DVD and Blu-ray units of its fifth and final “Twilight” film in its first weekend of release — an increase over the fourth film.

The studio said Blu-ray sales accounted for 27% of weekend sales of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” up from 22% of the first weekend sales of “Breaking Dawn — Part 1.”

Lionsgate also said the film recorded approximately 20% more electronic sell through transactions than “Breaking Dawn — Part 1,” which it called “early indications of a robust VOD performance as well.”

Lionsgate’s Ron Schwarts, exec VP and general manager of home entertainment, said in a statement: “Consumer demand for ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2? reflects strength in all segments of the home entertainment marketplace – packaged media, digital and on demand. This is further proof that author Stephenie Meyer has created a timeless classic that moviegoers want to enjoy over and over in a wide variety of formats.”

Breaking Dawn DVD and BluRay Buyers Guide and Review

The other day we linked you to a terrific buyers guide that breaks down all the special features that are found in the editions coming out in the USA. Things may vary a bit abroad, but you can find our USA version here.

Hypable also reviewed the DVD and BluRay at a special screening.

Never before has Summit-Lionsgate released an Extended Version of one of the Twilight films. Considering that one book had been split into two movies in the case of Breaking Dawn, the idea of an extended cut is even more surprising. While at the studio’s offices last weekend to screen the longer movie, an executive told us that they had hoped to have it out when the film was first released on DVD/Blu-ray last year. The problem was that director Bill Condon was busy editing Part 2, so there was no time for him to put together a longer version of Part 1. They understand there will be accusations of this being a quick money grab, but they insist that they would’ve preferred Part 1 Extended Edition was released last year so that sales could be stronger than they likely will be now.
