Summary:
Jacob and Edward head back inside the Cullen House. Edward asks everyone in his family to leave so Jacob can talk to Bella alone. Rosalie is reluctant but Bella insists she’ll be fine. Jacob tries to talk Bella into saving herself by aborting the pregnancy. He pleads for his sake, and even, to his dislike, begs for Edward’s sake. Bella reveals that she thinks the child is a boy and she won’t hurt him. She plans on keeping her heart beating just long enough for the child to survive and for her to become a vampire. Jacob hints at Edward’s plan that Bella could have a child with Jacob if she would just abort this pregnancy to save her life. Bella is shocked that Edward is that desperate for her life and Jacob, though he didn’t like the plan, is again hurt by Bella’s rejection. He leaves thinking that he has to cut Bella out of his life cold turkey.
He phases and runs back to the pack, who are relieved that he is alive. They hear in his thoughts what happened at the Cullen’s house. They are all shocked and abhorred. They meet in the forest outside of La Push and Sam decides that they should take care of the threat Bella’s unborn child poses. As he plans the surprise attack, Seth and Jacob are unwilling to fight against the Cullens. Sam commands them as Alpha that they will fight.
