International Release Dates For The Twilight Movie

Our mailbag and blog posts have been filled of requests by overseas Lexiconers wanting to know about the release date abroad for the Twilight movie. We’ve seen the rumors too that have run from it won’t go to Europe at all, to it’s going straight to DVD, etc. We thought, time to end the rumors. Let’s get information straight from the source. So we talked to Summit and this is what we have been able to find out.
- This WAY TOO EARLY to tie any date down specifically.
- It’s currently slated for a early 2009 release.
- They know that the fans want to movie sooner rather than later.
We specifically asked, "Does that mean a December 12, 2008 release is out of the question?" We were told, "Nothing at this point can be ruled out." So, what it all boils down to is give it some more time, and concrete answers will be available.
The movie is still slated to release domestically on December 12, 2008.

Well if it doesn’t come out in December that will be a waste of my time because I was planning a movie party so yeah I hope nothing goes wrong
Also I hope fans won’t interrupt the movie by continuing coming on set.

I am actually trying to block out the possibility that I might not be able to see the movie here in Germany in December. Jeez. I am only looking at English sites about Twilight. Maybe that’s why I don’t consider the possibility^^

I really hope the movie is released the same date worldwide. I’ll be giving Summit Entertainment a lot of money as I intend to see Twilight more than I saw St. Trinian’s (which was five times in the cinema).

As a European, I put faith in the statement that “nothing can be ruled out” when it comes to a 12.12.08 release. Although it’s probably a long shot, at least they haven’t said that the option is out of the question… We’ll just have to wait patiently and see!
i’m hoping you’re 3sh!!! I firmly believe that TWILIGHT will be big… probably at par with Harry Potter… and just a thought Harry Potter practically started the same way as Twilight, just a bestseller that is transformed into a movie… I think when the movie is released in December(judging that its good) its fanbase will eventually increase… okay im getting ahead of myself… I’m just saying that people WORLDWIDE should give the movie a chance! so i would like Dec.12 to be a TWILIGHT day WORLDWIDE whether it be in Europe or Asia or AFrica…

Celeste: Early 2009 would be 1-2 months after the US release date, so 9-10 months from now or so. Not 2 years
International??? Does that include Canada????

I doubt that it’ll be released so late after the US release in Canada though. If later, probably a few days at the most.

Okay, I’m against piracy but you know… I’m Spanish and I don’t think that I will be able to wait for the movie…
It’s just like Breaking Dawn, I have pre-ordered and I’ll have to wait at least one week and a half to hold it in my hands, I’ll have to avoid all these sites… I’m a little annoyed about that!

I think the ‘SATC’ movie is going to be released in Germany one day earlier than in the US.
So I have some very little hope that they’ll release ‘Twilight’ very close to the US date
That sucks, I was planning to have a ‘movie marathon’ and see Twilight and Harry Potter in like the same week. I hope the U.K. gets it the same time as the U.S., I’ll be ridiculously jealous otherwise.

NO EXTENSION! I do hope international viewers get to see twilight the same time as the U.S.A. It just seems unfair, that just because they may live oversees, that they don’t get to see the movie the same time. I mean c’mon – who would want to spend a thousand dollars for a plane ticket to see the twilight movie? It doesn’t seem fair that people just as obsessed with these books, and this movie have to live in the U.S.A. to see the twilight movie when it is officially released. Can you smell a petition????
Anyway- just thought i’d share my point of view…
For all those Canadians worried about the release date…you don’t have to be. We always get the same films on the same release dates as the US.
Well if any out of country-ers wanna fly to the states I’m sure there’s a ton of us you could probably stay with, hehe
