Kristen Stewart: “I stand by every mistake I’ve ever made.”

Kristen in Marie Claire 2Marie Claire has a new interview with Kristen Stewart that addresses many of the issues fans have probably been wondering about.  Kristen had this to say about love:

“You don’t know who you will fall in love with. You just don’t. You don’t control it. Some people have certain things, like, ‘That’s what I’m going for,’ and I have a subjective version of that. I don’t pressure myself … If you fall in love with someone, you want to own them—but really, why would you want that? You want them to be what you love. I’m much too young to even have an answer for that question.” Stewart does acknowledge a desire to someday have children (and believes in adoption) and re-create the happy childhood she had. “I had it too good to not have that, too. If I were to put money on it, definitely, yeah. But you earn that, like, that’s so not here yet.” She laughs. “I mean, at this point, I can’t tell you if I want to hang out on Saturday.”

She had this to say about her awkwardness in public:

“I have an embarrassing incapability, seriously, of summoning fake energy.” And that’s what is required of her, she explains, whenever she does media to promote her latest projects. “I’m just not very good on TV, and it’s not my main goal in life to get good at it. People are like, ‘She just can’t handle’-for lack of a better word-’the spotlight.’ No, actually, I can’t, and that is totally who I am. I love being an actor, but I’m the last person to want to have a birthday party. I don’t try to force it or turn it into something else or fabricate this personality … so I totally agree when people say I’m, like, the most awkward person.” Stewart has reconciled that with her desire to be true to her poetic self. “If you’re operating from a genuine place, then you can’t really regret anything.”

And the quote that defines the whole interview:

“I stand by every mistake I’ve ever made, so judge away.”

  1. I’ll always stand by Kristen.

    • Kelly! :)
      And I agree.

      • Always stand by Kristen. She’s young and we’ve all made mistakes. They don’t define us and we learn from them and move forward. Can’t wait to see her film Camp X-Ray and I’m glad it got a lot of good buzz at the Sundance Film Festival last month.

  2. I just don’t get the Kristen haters. It must be ridiculously difficult to live your life under constant scrutiny. To me she comes across as down to earth and remarkably normal for someone who has to constantly negotiate the paparazzi and the whole fame machine and at such a relatively young age. I hope she just keeps being Kristen and doesn’t bend to how the rest of the world thinks she should be.

  3. She is Bella now and forever, and was great in The Runaways, On The Road, and Adventureland. She’s young; a lot of people made worse mistakes at her age.

  4. While I respect her for wanting to be strong, especially amidst the pressures of Hollywood, I can never agree with people who say they stand by their mistakes. It seems to be a common statement to make nowadays, and maybe it means something different from this, but I interpret it as an inability to accept that the person ever did anything wrong. I think it’s a brave and noble thing to admit error and especially to seek forgiveness for it. I’m not saying that she has done anything to me that she needs to offer forgiveness for – I don’t even know her – or even that I think she needs to offer forgiveness to anyone else, but hearing that statement always makes me uncomfortable.

  5. Kristen made a mistake. She’s human and unfortunately, you all are. But shes being ridiculed because she standing / owning up to what she did? :|

Anyway, I and her fans love and will continue supporting her and cant wait to see her new stuff. She’s being honest and herself, and that’s why we love her. Or at least a couple reasons why.
