Robert Pattinson Speaks Up on Behalf of Twilight Fans

Robert Pattinson had this to say to BBC News.

Asked what his Twilight fanbase would make of the film, the 26-year-old star said: “I think a lot of them will really connect to it. Over the years, people kind of get an idea of what you’re trying to do.

“Some of them will follow – some of them will just want you to play vampires, but most people don’t want you to repeat yourself. So hopefully they’ll like it.”

Twilight fans, he suggested, had come in for unfair criticism.

“People put down Twilight fans, but yesterday I got given on the red carpet in Berlin all these books from people who are lined up in the rain and are probably judged by everyone to be crazy.

“I got a signed first edition of the Martin Amis book, Money; a Lawrence Ferlinghetti book; the new [Michel] Houellebecq book. All these people come up and give what they’ve been reading and found interesting. This is not giving you teddy bears!”

He is such an intelligent guy, it’s a pleasure to read his recent interviews. He need have no worries about not being accepted by Twilight fans, most will have seen films such as Remember Me and already know he is a very good actor. Of course some Twilight fans will not like Cosmopolis but that could be said of all fans of any actor. No one likes everything! Some younger fans may not appreciate this film, it’s not an easy story, but i know Rob Pattinson is going to be around for a very long time and a shortage of fans is not ever going to be a problem.

I got around to watching Water for Elephants on cable and liked it. I thought the chemistry between him and Reese Witherspoon was good. It gave Robert to really stretch his acting.

    • Have you read the novel tha the film was based upon? If not,I highly recommend it,it’s a lovely book. The film was just as good and I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see Cosmopolis as well. I love that he and Kristen take on roles that challenge them as actors.

  5. This made me smile! It’s a good feeling when you support someone, their choices, their efforts, and they give you support right back! Rob and Kristin have very loyal fans! We love them like family, and it’s awesome when they give it back, because it makes it all (standing in the rain/cold/heat for hours for premieres, midnight showings, speaking engagements, flying across countries, speaking in their defense, everything we do in support of them), worth it!

We love you right back kid! <3

  6. The Houellebecq book wasn’t given in Berlin but in Paris, by a group of fans from a forum that I’m part of: The Vampires’ Red Room. When they gave him the bag, he looked inside, and seemed very surprised by the book. He gave them a big smile and a “thank you”.
It was certainly not a random gift, he said in an interview that he loved Houellebecq and hadn’t read the last one.
