Top Five New Moon Quotes Featured on Hypable

Over at Hypable they are featuring quotes from different fandoms. Today the top five quotes from New Moon came up.

4. “I thought briefly of the clichés, about how you were supposed to see your life flash before your eyes. I was so much luckier. Who wanted to see a rerun, anyway?”

Bella says that in her mind while drowning. It’s miserable. I always cried when reading that (and I’m a guy!). Meyer creates deep psychologies for her characters and I think that’s why her characters are sometimes unaccepted. They are too real (even when they’re vampires) that readers are not used to that. They are used to either very good or extremely bad characters, which doesn’t exist in reality. Twilight characters have flaws, just like real people, which makes them perfectly-thought out characters in my opinion.

Check out what other quotes made the list on Hypable and why. It’s a pretty good list, and somewhat unusual in that it is complied by a guy since the majority of the fandom is female.

Which are your favorites?

  1. Thanks for posting it Twilight Lexicon! I am the guy who wrote that article!

    • CeliAmbre says:

Oh wow, welcome on the lex, Ahmed! Very sweet that a guy would write this, I’d like more men to appreciate the series. I also really love what you picked for quotes 2 and 3, I’m glad you found a somewhat funny quote for first place (people tend to forget that the books are really, really funny at times) and also a very literate/atmospheric quote (5) and I agree with what you wrote under quote 4 especially- the way the books are written is really very realistic, and this is why it draws in so many people, and others don’t like to admit or understand this.
New Moon is my favorite of the books, because it’s the most intense :)

    • I like this article. New moon is my favourate book in the series because Edward and Bella describes their feeling in a way that really touches me. SM did a great job in writting this book. There’re so many qoutes I love from this book besides those in the articlem but I think the second one about Edward life before Bella is the most romantic thing that I’ve ever read or heard.

    • Right on, bro.

  2. mommios says:

I actually said this to my husband the other day “I think that ship sailed a long time ago”

  3. Edward’s stars/meteor is a favorite.

Another favorite is the one that explains why she took him back so easily — when she runs into him in Volterra and realizes:

“It was very strange, for I knew we were both in mortal danger. Still, in that instant, I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect – not healed, but as if there had been no wound in the first place.”

  4. Elizabeth (EverythingRemindsMeOfTwilight) says:

There are so many. I love the ones Hypable picked, but I also love:

It might be one of the most overstated lines from the book, but I love it nonetheless, “Forbidden to remember, terrified to forget; it was a hard line to walk.” Who couldn’t relate to that?

I also love, “I squared my shoulders and walked forward to meet my fate, with my destiny solidly at my side.” I feel that this is such an important point–the foundation–of Bella’s life as she moves forward through Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

And I certainly quote, “Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear.” A LOT! :)

“It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect–not healed, but as if there had been no wound in the first place.”

“You should probably know that I’m breaking the rules right now. Well, not technically, since he said I was never to walk through his door again, and I came in the window… But, still, the intent was clear.” I love when SM throws some little funny–REAL–line in when everything is so serious. :)

“Your hold is permanent and unbreakable. Never doubt that.” Something every girl (or guy) wants to be reminded of from time to time.

And many more, but there’s no time to track them all down now. :-)

    • Yeah I forgot that first one you wrote. i should have added it!!!

      • Midnight Sun !!!!!!!!!! That whole continuing thing about
“the most foolish and reckless of angels,A guardian angel;”
What Carlisle says about deserving happiness

All the ones that have been in all the icons I’ve collected and printed off , I don’t know how many bits of paper I’ve written them on.
I have two copies of each book ( consumerism gone mad, I know) (one set are for display purposes and the other for reading, which are in the same state as Bellas copy of wuthering heights)and ridiculously enough I still would like an editional copy so I can make my own annotations :) hight lighting all my favorites
        Here’s a list I made years ago
(I like reading through and writing them down as I go)
“Mom beat you to the punch ten years ago ” the whole part with Charlie and Edward knowing that she was walking into that Pages 57-60 eclipse
88-89 the banter and note passing <3
The eagle and the fish 109-110
        "Edwards only human Bella"
        193 – " I think Alice … Stepped out "
235 " how do I look?"( in the motor bike gear ) that entire convosation

        Stephenie is a genius <3

  5. radiowidow says:

“It never made sense for you to love me. I always knew that.” This line is my favorite from NM. Who hasn’t felt insecure at some point as a teenager?
    ..

  6. And the fact that when I read new moon , it isn’t until I start reading chapter 4 that I cry, I read all of 3 thinking why am I not crying? and then the flood gate – artistry.

  7. I loved this article. I am so re-read this book again.

  8. loved the article – I’m so glad to read responses to the quotes that made me fall in love with the series to begin with. usually these days all you hear are people beating up on the writing and commentary on the movies
