Just when you think there couldn’t be enough news about Stephenie Meyer’s leading men, Variety reports that casting is in progress to fill the leading male roles of “The Host.”
From Variety: Liam Hemsworth (“The Hunger Games”), Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”), Jai Courtney (“One Shot”) and Max Irons (“Red Riding Hood”) will test for the role of Jared, Melanie’s boyfriend. Dane DeHaan (“In Treatment”), Thomas McDonnell (“Prom”), Augustus Prew (“The Borgias”) and Ronan’s “Lovely Bones” co-star Jake Abel will test for the role of Ian, a menacing young man who brutalizes Wanderer before falling in love with her.

None of the actors listed for Ian seem like a good fit, but it’ll be interesting to see who else auditions. The actors for Jared, however, are great and I’m anxious to hear more. Thanks for the update!
Judging by looks alone, I love Liam as Jared but I really liked Jai Courtney’s work in Spartacus. However, none of the Ians mentioned really do it for me. I always pictured Josh Hartnett as Ian; love him!
I wonder if there would be uproar if Liam got the role because of his involvement in The Hunger Games.

I can’t believe they’re making this into a movie? Why doesn’t Stephanie go back and do what she’s good at and finish the second and third book to this series rather than pushing this one to film? At last she’s not making Bree Tanner into a movie

I actually think that Kit Harrington would be a good Kyle, he could definitely pull off that darkness around him. I don’t exactly remember how Kyle was described lookwise, but purely based on acting, Kit would be great.
I can’t see Liam playing Jared. Ian yes, but not Jared. I could see his brother playing Jared.
or his actual brother in the book.
Max & Jake Abel or Kit as Jared and Max as Ian I could go for both of these

I don’t recognize any of these ppl except maybe max irons and only cuz I watched red ridinghood. Why is it all these young sounding unknown ppl? Jared and Ian aren’t young ppl and this book isn’t supposed to be for tweens.
Also what’s with the description of Ian? He’s not menacing and doesn’t brutalize Wanda til he falls in love, he’s actually one of the only ones who are somewhat kind to her. His brother Kyle is the menacing and brutalizing one. I hope they don’t do a character combination of those brothers
And lastly, I think it’d be best if no one from twilight were in these movies.
I haven’t read the Host,yes I know….what,Why not…..I will at some point! The Game of Thrones series is a long series of books and have taken alot of my time…..so speaking of that…. Kit Harington, if the HBO series goes as long as the books are now,with the 3rd book being broken up into two HBO seasons…we could hace six seasons of the series on HBO not counting the two last books that have come out. So Kit may be very busy.
Kit is an amazing theatre actor and he was amazing in the first season of Game Of Thrones and he will be even better in seasons to come…but his role will get bigger and more demanding too!
