Official Twilight Convention in Toronto a Hit

The Toronto Star reported on this past weekend’s Official Twilight Convention run by Creation Entertainment.

“Sunday was bright and beautiful, but inside the twists and turns of the Westin Convention Centre, 500 girls and women hardly cared. When pursuing love with a vampire, sunlight is an easy sacrifice.

This weekend was the Toronto stop of the touring Twilight Convention, a gathering for fans of Stephenie Meyer’s rabidly popular tale.

Almost 100 million copies of the four-novel series have been sold, and three movies have been made about the teenager Bella Swan and her romances with the vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black. A fourth film is set to be released in 2011.

“I cannot wait for Breaking Dawn,” said Santyna Brar, 14, who attended the entire three-day convention with her cousin, Sonali Kumar, 15.

The two Mississauga teens spent $299 each to get front-row seats for Q&As with Twilight actors[Lexicon note: you can get general admission day passes for as little as $25], plus photos, autographs and tickets to a costumed Vampire Ball on Saturday night.

None of the three principal actors — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — were here, though the cast of The Hillywood Show’s Twilight satire did feature a mock Jacob who remained shirtless all day. Brar and Kumar had a great time.

“I never knew stars could be so normal,” said Kumar. At the ball, one of the younger actors, Boo Boo Stewart, sat down at the cousins’ table to chat.”

The convention is next coming to New Jersey, Minneapolis, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Sacramento and other locations.

We weren’t able to live Tweet the convention this weekend because we would have gone broke with the charges (*shakes fist at AT&T*), however we will have a full write up for you this afternoon. Coming tomorrow, we have a video of an EPIC and we do mean EPIC prank thought up by Booboo Stewart and his dad that was executed with a little help from Bronson Pelletier and Kiowa Gordon. We filmed the prank from behind the scenes planning stages to the actual prank. You’re not going to want to miss this.

  1. Ahaha I was there! The prank really was EPIC! Leave it to Booboo :P I actually thought it was Bronson’s idea at first.

  2. It was awesome! I had so much fun and still can’t believe that I won the Trivia Contest Friday. Thank you again for the week end

  3. It was halarious to say the least. Can’t wait to see behind the scenes of it

  4. Hit… not even close. The extreme costs involved basically excluded 95% of fans. And only the presence of 2nd rate characters was an insult to all those paying those big bucks in attendance.

  5. Had a great weekend in Toronto!!!! Even though we didn’t see the big names it was still worth it! Myself and a couple of girls at my table at the vampire ball got to sit with Charlie Bewley- he was nice enough to just sit and chat with all of us! He was so open to our questions we even got a tidbit of info on breaking dawn!!!!! I also loved just being with people who understand your obsessions and don’t judge you for it! It was refreshing lol

The only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the vendor tables compared to what I’ve seen online we didn’t get too many….that and room service at the westin was ridiculous…. 60 dollars for breakfast for 2!!!

Either way I am totally buying tickets for next year!

    • i was there to it was soo amazing and i want to go next year but i cant find where to buy tickets and if there not avalible yet then i guess im just waaaaay to excited

  6. Omg I was there and loved the convention. Thanks to everyone for making it such a special event. Thanks Kiowa for my last min pic outside when I my camera wasn’t working. Thanks Michelle fir sending it to me via email. You guys are awesome.
    Can’t wait for next year!

The convention was awesome, Charlie was absolutely hilarious and I had lots of fun at the ball. Disapointed that Kellan could not come, I wish they could have at least replaced him with another Cullen. I am definately going back next year, but not in Toronto – The vendor room was absolutely pitiful, I found more stuff at Wal-mart and chapters, I thought that it being the Twilight convention there would be lots of mechandise, but I was wrong. I’m just waiting to see where the convention goes next summer.
All and All it was really fun, hope next year is even better.

    • I absolutely agree! I was looking forward to some unique twilight stuff like I had seen in a vendor’s video the lexicon had put up a while ago….the stuff they had in the vendors room was the same merch you can pick up in stores…

I cant complain too much I got a whole bunch of free stuff since I helped out for the auction on sunday. lol

  8. Stephanie says:

Thank you Twilight Lexicon for the insight in what you do. The Convention was my very first and I really enjoyed myself. It was nice to see the actors be themselves. The Wolfpack is really hillarious and they really feed off of each others’ energy.

  9. I AWS THERE!!! Brought my step daughter. Gold pass all the way! The wolf pack was amazing with her. We had such a wonderful time and sisi has a memory that will last a life time. The guys were so courteous and personable. or a first time goer, I have to say That this convinced me to go again. Thank you so much for such a wonderful eventful weekend!!!!

  10. The convention was absolutey awsome! It was the first convention I’ve been at, and the wolf pack / Charley Bewley made this an unforgetable memory for my daughter. Special thanks goes out to Boo Boo and Chaske for the quality time they took with her. Chaske sat with my daughter for 45 minutes just talking at the ball. Definately a twilight mom now and would definitey do this again. Thank you so much for the lifetime of memories
