Extended Eclipse Clips Shown at MTV Movie Awards

This is a slightly extended clip that was shown the other night.

Comments

  1. I can`t wait for the scenes between Jacob and Edward.

  2. Edward looks waaayyy better, the dialogue is acceptable, Kristen’s wig isn’t too horrible, & I LOVE the score (Jacob’s theme is so sweet & sad & subtle & perfect!). However, once again I have to give a little fish-eye to M.R. Bella, the character as Stephenie wrote her, would NEVER leave Edward’s side to go for a ride with Jake in this situation. The ONLY reason she goes with him in the books is because Edward would be gone hunting anyway. Even through BD she still talks about having abandonment issues when they’re apart. She HATES hurting Edward in any way, shape, or form to the point that it physically hurts her to do so. … Ok, I’m done venting now… I still can’t wait to see the film… over & over & over & over… :D

    • Stephanie says:

I completely agree with you! Thanks for the vent.

    • Christie says:

Yeah, I totally agree… I assume they made this change to keep the pace of the film moving, but book Bella would not have done that!! But I guess (as hard as it is) we need to try and see the book and film as two different things and while the book will no doubt be better than the film, the film will, I’m sure, still be pretty darn good!

    • I agree, book Bella wouldn’t do this, but I wish she did. I wanted book Bella to put Edward and Jacob in there place when they were acting stupid. That’s why I love this scene.

    • switzy4ever14 says:

      exactly. I’m very angry.

  3. I love everything I have seen so far, but I just don’t know what to think of this clip, I do like it a lot!…But Bella just seems WAY to confident for someone who’s being torned and confused between two lovers. The line she says to Jacob just sounds too snappy instead of hurt..
I always thought of Bella as a more fragile girl than what’s shown here.

Maybe when I see the whole movie it will fit perfectly… I do like it, very much!
Just hoping it will all fit perfectly, maybe that’s because this is my favorite book and I have very very high expectations :D

  4. vampbball says:

Ditto to the above, and just to be clear, Edward is hostile towards Jacob in that scene not because J. is macking on his woman, but because J. wants to tell B. about V., and E. knows it and is pissed. I never realized before how hard it would be to film “mind-reading.”

P.S. Why does everyone who loves Bella tell her to “Hold on tight”? I wish she’d get a chance to say that to Edward in BD. ;)

  5. Not loving this clip, at all. As an Edward and Bella fan, it’s just not sitting right with me. MR shouldn’t have rewrote this part.

    • mschicklet says:

Yea I’m really sick of Melissa Rosenberg putting her “own spin” on these books. It’s an adaptation – we’ve all made it pretty clear that faithfulness and accuracy are what we want. Geez, MR. I can’t believe they haven’t hired someone else.

    • shannon says:

      I so agree!!!

  6. Shannon says:

The more I see it the more I like it. Bella was fiesty and argunmentative in both Twilight and Eclipse the books, but not so much in the movie. I kind of like her snappy comment to Jacob. I agree the riding away on the bike is a bit of a stretch, but I can handle it because they are bound to change things no matter what.

  7. I’m so excited for this movie. Eclipse is my favorite book of the series. However…

After 2 movies, I still don’t like Kristen Stewart. She’s just not soft enough to play Bella. She really rubs me the wrong way. She just seems so ungrateful. The Twilight Saga made her career. She would be nowhere without us. I can understand not wanting paparazzi and all that around but even when she gets awards, she just comes off ungrateful. She’s annoyed by us – by all of it.

    • While you are entitled to your opinion, I think you are being highly judgemental of this girl. I really wish people would give her a break. She’s human and she’s allowed to act however she wants to act. She owes us nothing but a good performance. (And most people do like her)

      • I would argue that she owes us at least a tiny bit of gratitude. Hardly anyone even knew her name before Twilight.

        • I don’t mind her personal additude, as long as she does a good job on acting.

And I can imagine her vision on the paparazzi and awards. Everything she says gets blown out of proportion. The award thing, last time she dropped the award, so I can also understand her letting Robert take the ‘trophy’.

she’s just who she is, nobody is perfect.
I’m not, and I know it, so there is no need for me to judge others.

        • I think you’re reading too much into it – How many times does she have to say Thank you to make you happy? Her popularity is getting more intense with each movie and it’s been obvious from the first movie, Twilight, that it makes her uncomfortable. It’s understandable she’s getting more on edge as more fans catch on. Not to mention the media is constantly trying to find something wrong with her. I can’t imagine the pressure she is under on a daily basis because of these movies.

        • Kristen owes you nothing. She’s not about “people knowing her name.” Once again, she is very grateful for what Twilight has brought her. *shakes head.*

    • Lunna-san says:

I think her attitude is understandable, Mel. Stewart is a 20 years old and maybe she thinks things are going a bit too fast. If older and more experienced actors still find hard to deal with fame, imagine how it is for her. People she doesn’t know are talking about her. That must be stressful. So, why not give her a rest?

About her being grateful, if she go the role, it was probably because Catherine liked her audition. So, she got it by herself. It’s a job, as it was Into the Wild and other movies. Let’s not mix things. The Saga is special for us, the fans. The actors may like or not the fans, the story, etc. That’s up to them.

    • OMG! Again with the “she’s ungrateful, blah, blah, blah.” How many times does Kristen need to say it? SHE’S NOT UNGRATEFUL!! Don’t you listen or read any of her interviews? And as far as her career, she’s destined for greatness, with or without Twilight. Seriously, move on from the negative Kristen comments.

    • What the hell is wrong with you?
      Ungrateful?
Do you not read ANY of her interviews?
She has said time and time again she loves the series, her job.. everything. She loves it more than we will ever know. Just because shes not all fake smiles and sunshine does NOT mean she is UNGRATEFUL.
Give the poor girl a break.
      LOOK IN THE MIRROR.
You wouldnt survive 1 day in her shoes.

YOU are the one being ungrateful

    • Shes ungrateful when she gets awards?
I wouldnt say ungrateful.. maybe nervous, shy and modest, perhaps?
She is unique and deals with things very differently.
Why don’t you get to know Kristen before you start posting stupid comments.

  8. Soooooo excited!=]

  9. DaniBrook says:

Wow Edward is actually looking goooooood! Loved the first part up until she gets on the bike…. sorry but that just sucks

    • Marilyn says:

Besides the fact that didn’t actually happen in the book! It’s Alice she rides away from while in Alice’s care! Why would this scene be changed? So wrong!

  10. although im really looking forward to film, this one clip that just dnt seem right, bella comes across as really cocky and it dont seem right her just leaving edward like that, i prefer the way the scene is in the book.

    • I, too, prefer the book scene over this movie scene. She seems so snotty when she leaves Edward. Not at all the Bella I know!

    • i agree. like wtf she rides just randomly goes on a motorcycle ride with jacob and leaves edward?

    • Trinia Gene says:

Agree!!!! But I’m still looking forward to the movie….
      I’m a twilight fan….. even though I’m only 12…. so what?? I’m a reader so people leave me alone….. sometimes they’re awed… but let’s get back to the point….
People who make movies from books shouldn’t change the story!!! That wouldn’t be fair to the fans!!!! To be fair to everybody they should make movies exactly like the books…. that wouldn’t be a problem….
I hope Breaking Dawn would be exactly like the book…. can’t wait!!!

  11. OK, I will not comment on the actual Edward/Bella/Jacob deal but I will say this: Has anyone ever noticed how many kids go to that school!?!? I thought it was supposed to be a small town & small school. Everytime I watch the school scenes it just looks completely out of place.

Oh, and I do think Edward looks so much better than in NW and it also looks like Bella’s hair is a lighter shade.. more red maybe?? It could just be my computer though.

    • I went back and checked the Bella’s hair thing out again and depending on which scene or part of the clip you are watching, her hair looks a different color.

  12. Did I just see this right? or do I have dirt in my eyes??
Did Edward just hit Jacob??? they show like a split second and i really really wouldn’t understand it if that happens! it’s so not right?!

    • No, he didn’t hit him. If you watch the entire clip with them in that scene you’d realize that it’s just the way his arm moves when Jacob pushes it away.

And as far as the whole Kristen not being grateful enough thing, seriously? Can’t you tell she’s just nervous and uncomfortable with all of this as it gets more and more popular? She’s thanked us countless times, and I don’t know how some of you come up with these opinions of her, but I think it’s safe to say that you need to give her a break. I’d like to see some of these judgmental people out here deal with what she deals with on a daily basis, then you can talk.

  13. It seems must of us are in agreement that the clip was wrong. Bella would’ve never left Edward there to go with Jacob?!? The whole exchange was off and left me a little worried. However, I’m willing to be a little forgiving and understand they need to play up the love “triangle” for the movies (those of us who have read the books know there really isn’t much of a “triangle” there) so I’m sure it will still be fabulous. :)

  14. Scarlett says:

Is it weird that at the 0:25 mark you can see a girl in a short skirt (or it could be shorts) walking up the stairs when everyone else is wearing long pants and jackets? haha I thought it was funny. I can’t wait to see this movie!

  15. Anonymous says:

Aww, I really feel sorry for poor Edward in this scene. Its like both Jacob and Bella are mocking him. And they both need to tone down the tudes.

    • Exactly, it’s scenes like this that make me question MR’s motives when it comes to Jacob. Bella just comes off as a brat. “I can’t believe my boyfriend tried to save my life, risking his own family’s, and then tried to protect me from the terror of knowing a vampire came back to kill me! How dare he?” Seriously MR, seriously?

  16. Arcadia says:

As the scene starts, Jacob is so cool and calm. Even his parting shot — “I had nothing to say” extols an ardor of deliberate effrontery. Then, Bella walks away from Edward, gets on the bike, and Jacob acts like a little kid (nah nah nah nah, Bella’s going with me me) with that smug smile. YUCK!

    • AMEN!!! That is what makes me SSOOOO mad about this clip. It makes Bella look like a “silly little girl” who has no self-respect!! She has just been totally insulted by Jacob and then ditches her man to hop on a bike with him seconds later???!!! SO NOT A GOOD MESSAGE!!!!

      • Krystol says:

And not something that Bella would do. She would never deliberately leave Edward angry like that to go off with Jacob, especially when he had just insulted her.

  17. Chelsea says:

it kinda makes me mad that the writers are making Bella look bad. Jacob’s attitude hits closer to the book because he really acts like he portrays…I think that Bell might have her priorities mixed…I don’t know…overall I really like the clip and it makes me excited for the rest of the movie in three weeks!! Yay Eclipse!!

  18. *Elwing* says:

I liked this clip, but if I not compare it with the book. Eclipse is my favorite book in the series and I hope the movie does not disappoint me because I do not forgive MR in my life.
I have a couple of comments to make:
    1) We all know that would have to be Alice, not Edward
    2) Bella never would leave him alone at school, not after what happened in new moon.
    3) Edward is too comfortable letting her go with Jacob
    4) AND, PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER ME: SINCE WHEN THE JACOB BLACK, THAT WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE, BRINGS A HELMET ON THE BIKE?

    • I was thinking the same thing. Bella was always reckess with Jacob. Edward was the over-protective one.

    • haha your last comment made me laugh

This clip kind doesn’t really get me excited for Eclipse. It’s like the whole fight scene E. has with the Volturi in NM, it’s not something he would do. Also, I hope this doesn’t mean we lose the whole Alice “kidnapping” B. I love that part of the book

  19. The script still sucks … but at least the hair and make-up and acting have appeared to been stepped up a notch.

  20. i like edward`s eyes

  21. Lily Cullen says:

Although I like Book-Bella because she’s so funny, I do love Movie-Bella because she’s stronger.

I think some fans will always hate Kristen Stewart because she gets to hang out/be around/kiss Robert Pattinson. If you really think about it, she’s hated for purely shallow and childish reasons. It’s time to grow up.

  22. I understand that something need to be changed when making a book a movie. Some things on paper don’t translate well to the big screen. But I don’t like M.R. writting. She chnages too much about the characters. It’s one thing to change a scene to make the flow better but to change a character’s internal make-up is wrong. She does that all the time. Like in Twiligh, Edward would not have called Bella “spider monkey”. And in this clip Bella would not have left Edward to be with Jake. Not right then anyway. It would have hurt Edward too much. Later in the book they become a little more comfortable with the friendship. M.R. makes the characters do thing they wouldn’t do. I think it messes with the flow of the movie. It’s a little distracting.

    • Yeah, I am really wondering what “theatrical” or “artisitic” reasons they had for making this scene like this??? I am just going to try to keep positive and think that when seen in context of the whole movie…it will all flow well. If they change ANYTHING about the tent scene, I will hurt someone! :) :) :)

  23. Krystol says:

Is it just me or does every single trailer/clip shown so far have Edward and Bella unhappy with each other? I’m not sure what I think of that, it’s too different from how things were in the book. They weren’t fighting every two minutes, they LOVE each other.

  24. I have watched the scene over and over again, there is one question left from me.. why ia Jacob wearing a shirt???

Besides the fact that we all probably would go cougar for Taylor. Wasn’t he shirtless all he time in the book?

  25. vampbball says:

You know which part I hope they leave in Eclipse? I hope Bella cuts her hand as Edward fights Victoria, and Edward gives an audible sigh. That part always cracks me up.

  26. Stephenie Meyer rocks!!!! Melissa Rosenberg sucks!!! Nuff said.

  27. I really think Kristen is a great actress. She is very nervous and fidgets alot and sometimes when your nervous you laugh or roll your eyes etc. We can’t interpret that into being ungateful. I think she knows that these books/movies are important not only to the fans but to the entire cast as well. Interview after interview they are always saying that they want to make the fans proud and do right by us. I think that they do an amazing job and let’s not forget that the editors, directors, screen writers and producers are calling the shots on what is/isn’t protrayed in the movie. In an interview Kristen spoke about reporters, paps and photographers saying that they are the ones that make an actor so popular but that they are also the ones that start gossip and rumors. They’re getting fat off this franchise all the way around. No more negativity please, Kristen is awesome.

  28. GrayceM says:

My thought on the clip is that there’s something missing between when Bella says, “By lying to me?” and when she starts to go with Jacob. It just seems choppy so I’m hoping that they left out some of the conversation…maybe even the Jacob tormenting Edward with his memories of Bella…

Although it is a big part of the book and quite a few of my favorite scenes are in this, I can see them cutting out Bella being kidnapped and some of the conversations that make Edward sound like he’s mentally abusing her. I’ve heard people reference his actions in the book that way…
Though we know that Edward isn’t like that, his motivation for things like having Bella kidnapped and not even discussing her having werewolf friends, could be taken as a little controlling rather than protective.

Maybe some part of this is a deleted scene or extended scene that we won’t see in the movie…? I’m holding out hope for that.

Of the interviews I’ve seen with Kristen, she’s extremely shy and even a little clumsy herself. I believe she is grateful to the fans for the success of the films but, she is the type of actor who has always had the Indy role not a lot of people see. The Twilight Saga phenom is on a completely different level. I can’t even begin to imagine the stress they are all under but they all seem to be genuinely grateful to the fans and even their co-stars for the success this has given them.

  29. Cullenfanforever says:

Another volvo and its not silver!!! This is so not like the book! MR should be fired!

  30. I don’t like how they changed it by making Bella get on the bike. But I must say, by just seeing this clip alone, Talor Lautner definitely portrays Jacob’s emotions in Eclipse perfectly. I just got done reading it for the third time and reading Bella describe his facial expressions and emotions, I can see they will be spot on in the movie!

  31. shannon says:

I thik it is crap that Bella goes away with Jacob while Edward is there. I hate when they mess with the important stuff from the book. I know they have to add somethings but stuff like this messes with the story.

I do agree that they look real good in this clip. This is the best that Edward looks.

    Come on June 30th 12:00am!!!!

  32. I’m starting to get a really bad feeling about the movie…. i mean from what i’ve seen so far (from all the little clips) bella seems to be always concerned about jacob, absolutely indifferent to edwards feelings and edward himself seems like a overly controling psycho boyfriend that bella just puts up with…
i really don’t like to talk bad “in advance” but i’m getting panic attacks…
come on – bella should actually LOVE edward and CARE about him…. stop changing the main characters!!!
i think i’ll just stop watching the sneak peeks. Hopefully the movie is a whole different thing

  33. I am so sick of Jacob in every freaking scene. Bella just stands around and look slack jaw. She has no emotion at all. I hate that MR. She needs to be flog for messing this up. Did she even bother to read the books. I have been on other sites also and they all are saying the same thing about these clips. The comments are not nice. ARE YOU LISTENING SUMMIT. WE ARE NOT HAPPY! They need to fix this because they are going to lose money on this thing. I not going to see this mess and i hope it sinks faster than the TITANIC. I hope they lose so much money and then fire that ugly cow MR and get this think back on track. THANKS A LOT MR AND SUMMIT FOR RUINING EVERYTHING!

  34. switzy4ever14 says:

God don’t you movie makers understand ANYTHING? Geez! Bella would NEVER walk away from Edward like that! She’d never hurt him that way! I don’t understand why they can’t be true to the characters.
