Eclipse Soundtrack Review

We were lucky enough to get an advanced listen to the Eclipse Soundtrack and let me first start by saying that is in my humble opinion the best of the three.  I know that is a big statement to make but this music is incredible. There is a very clear vibe to the soundtrack and it fits with that of Eclipse.  Shelley (something blue) and I (Jen/be my escape) both reviewed the soundtrack and have created a favorite’s list.  Essentially we each chose the songs we liked the most to talk about in detail.

Jen’s Choices

Heavy in Your Arms- Florence + The Machine- This is my absolute favorite song! The music, the lyrics, everything about it is just perfection.  From the heavy drum and piano beats to the haunting voice of Florence Welch this song is intense and IMHO a fantastic Bella song.  The lyrics just speak to Bella and what she is going through in Eclipse. I have absolutely no idea if it is a Bella song but to me it is.  Listen to the second verse when you get it and let me know what you think! If you want to get a feel for the sound of the song check out Cosmic Love, so good.

My Love- Sia- Strings and piano, two of my favorite things, comprise the back drop for this beautiful song.  I know Twilighters have been a fan of Sia for long time and they will not be disappointed.  This song has a similar feel to Breathe Me but with a completely different meaning. Sia’s soulful voice brings the emotion of Eclipse to life.

Ours- The Bravery- This is the epitome of a graduation song or for some reason it reminds me of the song that would play over the credits of a movie, either way it is fantastic.  I loved the tempo of the song

Shelley’s Choices

Fanfarlo’s Atlas is a fun and light song that reminds me a little bit of Shooting the Moon by Ok Go on the New Moon soundtrack. This song seems like the best fit for a more light hearted scene in the movie.

Eastern Conference Champions’ A Million Miles An Hour has darker tones as well, but with a more bluesy tone to the voice. I could definitely see this as a dangerous newborn tune.

The Black Keys Chop and Change is funky and a little creepy, kind of a funk mix. It just struck me upon my second listening that this must be a Rosalie after-the-change song. I really hope so! It certainly has that bad girl vibe. I love this song. (I loved this one too!)

Overall the Soundtrack is amazing and I can’t wait to see where all the music fits. Don’t forget for today only you can listen to the Eclipse Soundtrack check it out and tell us what you think. Which is your Favorite song??

Comments

  1. I’m not sure I can pick a favorite. They’re all great but if I had to choose it would probably be Heavy In Your Arms by Florence + The Machine. It’s a great song, I love her voice.

  2. Tunes Rock…. is it june 29 yet?

  3. Absolute fab song is Chop and Change – The Black Keys. I can’t get enough of it! Also a fan of heavy in Your Arms – Florance and The Machine. I agree about it being the best soundtack of the 3 so far

I love those two as well and I really love Rolling In On a Burning Tire too. I’m excited to buy it but I’m torn: physical CD with the jacket, etc or digital version with the 4 bonus tracks. Seems kind of wasteful to buy both…but I probably will. :) haha

  4. Princess Kellz says:

I am loving this soundtrack more than any of the others and that’s saying something. Heavy in my arms is beautiful, but anything by Florence usually is. Am i the only one getting a Jasper & Alice vibe from My Love though? I’ve listened to it 5 times and it just screams Jazz & Alice to me lol

  5. I’ve already fallen in love with Muse’s and Vampire Weekend’s songs of course, but since I knew those already, I’ve gotten three new obessions today:

Sia – My Love, Florence + The Machine – Heavy in your Arms and Metric – Eclipse (All Yours). I am listening to them over and over again. They are all so beautiful and deep!

But the entire soundtrack is really great and so far I think it tops both Twilight and New Moon. :D

  6. lolly12 says:

I agree completely, I’ve already pre-ordered my digital version. This one is the best of the three.

  7. I liked My Love, A Million Miles an Hour, and Jacob’s Theme.

  8. I’m not sure I love it yet. I loved the Twilight one immediately. New Moon I liked but then LOVED after I saw the movie a few times. I love seeing where songs fit in to the movie. I think I will like it more then.

i just love this soundtrack.the new moon soundtrack was very VERY good, but i think this one will top it.
florence+the machine and sia did a amazing job!

  10. Sounds pretty interesting. So far, the Muse song is my fave, but I really like the Metric one and the one by Cee Lo Green. I think I’ll have different favorites once I’ve seen the movie and I can relate them to different scenes.

  11. What part of forever……bella and edward just leaving the meadow and on their way to tell charlie! thats where i see that fitting!

  12. I love the album. Why do they have such epic soundtracks when they’re such crappy movies?
The Metric song is my fav, so far, followed by Beck/Bat For Lashes and Muse.

  13. i looooooove love love florence and the machine heavy in your arms im actually about to download it onto itunes lol

  14. So excited to see two of my favorites on here, Black Keys and Band of Horses. Florence + the Machine is super good, reminds me of how I instantly loved Roslyn on NM soundtrack. Overall, this soundtrack has a darker, more “vampirey” feel to it, Chop and Change and Rolling In on a Burning Tire especially, and I love it. It’s perfect for Eclipse. Can’t wait to see where they all fit in.

  15. emilykate.! says:

evan though im team edward all the way,i love the jacob theme! the score should be very good.i wonder if edward will have a theme?

  16. I love this album out of all three. It’s hard to say which one is my favorite yet. I like Heavy in your arms, my love, and neutron star collision.

  17. Reneem1 says:

Beck & Bat for Lashes song – Let’s get lost is HAWT!

    Love The Bravery!!!!

  18. seems like Jen and i are like minds. :) i agree!

  19. Cristine says:

WHICH SONG CAN POSSIBLY BE BACKDROP MUSIC WHILE EDWARD PROPOSES IN THE BEDROOM?

  20. This soundtrack is amazing! Not too impressed with the “bonus” tracks, but the rest is great. So glad I pre-ordered!

  21. Beck’s song definitely sounds like it should be used in a certain leg hitching bed scene =D

  22. Heather says:

LOVED IT!! Heavy in Your Arms and Life on Earth are wonderful! I loved every song of the Twilight soundtrack, however, there were only about 3 songs I cared for off of the New Moon soundtrack. Very pleased so far with this one. Can not wait until I get to see where the fit in the movie.

  23. I like all of them, Rolling it on a burning tire the dead weather I think that was probably going to be Leah’s song.

  24. bookworm says:

MY LOVE BY SIA!!!! I love this one the instant that I heard it!. It’s either gonna play when Edward proposes, OR when Jacob find out Bella’s gonna marry Edward. But that’s what I think…

  25. Michele says:

No one has mentioned the Cee Low Green Remix!!!!! My fav for sure, its incredible!!!

  26. Wow…Heavy In Your Arms just blew me away. I’ve already listened to it like ten times already. This is a perfect Bella song. Everything about it is perfect for Eclipse. I also like the one with Beck in it. They’re all good. I think there were only two that I had to skip over. I think I like this one better than New Moon, but I don’t think anything can beat the original Twilight soundtrack.

  27. Wow can’t wait for this amazing album! Everything seems to flow so nicely, but each song has its own unique vibe. And I can’t ignore Jacob’s theme. Simply BEAUTIFUL! Is it just me, or does it seem to have some parts that sound a little like themes from romeo and juliet? (1954)

  28. switzy4ever14 says:

dang it, this goes away before tomorrow doesn’t it? i’m exhausted. i can’t stay up. i guess i’ll have to wait till tuesday….

  29. Luthien says:

I love Jacob’s Theme! It’s about time Jacob got some attention! Very melancholy and solitary, just how I imagined a song for Jacob would sound. Howard Shore just doesn’t disappoint, does he? The score should be wonderful too. I’m assuming they will come out with the score CD as well, like they did with New Moon.

  30. Christine says:

I just love the songs, it’s so hard to pick a favorite, but I think I would go with “Heavy in your arms” by Florence, I mean the voice, the sound, the piano … just perfect!
And the Jacob theme is lovely (although I am team Edward :)
Great soundtrack, better then the first two in my opinion too!

  31. I preordered via iTunes, I liked them all but the one that moved me most was MUSE’s. There’s another one that is awesome and beat moves faster and faster (can’t remember title of song), I was just cleaning house and cranked it up. When I had to move upstairs, brought my wireless speakers and just let it loop most of the afternoon.

  32. Sia “My Love” and Howard Shore “Jacob’s Theme”. They are so beautiful. It reminds me of the Twilight Soundtrack. I think this song is probably going to be at the end after Bella leaves his house for the last time or when he is running away. I am totally an Edward fan but i think i will be feeling so sorry for Jake if this song is played at the end of the movie.

  33. this soundtrack is amazing!!

  34. tKiPeR77 says:

Heavy in Your Arms is my fave on this soundtrack!!
