Twilight Lexicon Wins Shmoop Award!

Best of the Web
Named Best of the Web for New Moon by Shmoop

We had quite the surprise today when we received an email telling us we had won a Shmoop Award.  We hadn’t entered ourselves, and we weren’t aware that anyone nominated us, or brought our name up to the nominating committee.

The Shmoop organization itself has won some prestigious web recognition being recognized by PC Magazine as “The Best of the Internet”, they were a Webby Award Winner in 2009, and have been touted by sites such as The School Library Journal and Mashable.

According to the organization’s  email to us, “Shmoop is an education website for students and teachers (middle school through college ages). Our mission is to make learning fun and relevant for today’s students. Each of our learning guides includes a “Best of the Web” section, where we point teachers and students to quality, reliable websites for further exploration. And we picked your site!

Our writers (who are mostly Ph.D. students at Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, etc.) pick the sites that go into our Best of the Web section. Teachers and students rely on our expert writers to point out only the highest quality websites, so you should feel quite honored!”

We are truly touched and honored. Alphie and Pel would like to publicly thank the Shoomp organization for acknowledging our website; however, more importantly, we would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Lexicon administrators and forum moderators. Without their hard work we would be unable to maintain the website and make it a fun place to visit.  So again a sincere thank you to the Shmoop organization and to everyone who helps keep the Lexicon running!
