The Score is horrible !!!
the movie is wonderful but alexander deslpat is a very bad composer !!!!!
the score lets you return to the movie in your mind. I find when I am listening to it I can remember not only remember exactly what was happening in the movie, but also the feelings they were experincing. ( well at least with the twilight soundtrack
)
From the moment the New Moon image showed on screen and the eerie music began, I had a bit of chills. The music is beautiful and moving, and compliments the style of film, just as the very different music for Twilight fit its rougher, more documentary style.
I’ve been inspired to write music and lyrics for Eclipse (not that it will ‘become’ anything, but it’s good practice).
The music helps you to get into the movie, feel the emotion/the moment, helps to capture your interest in the movie thats what i think
The score sounds really fantastical and a bit eerie at times, which I thought, really tied in Bella and Edward’s relationship. It reminds me that Bella’s discovery of Edward and of Jacob’s transformation has completely altered her world,as well as the intense feelings associated with loving both a vampire and a werewolf. It’s what I loved most about the books…New Moon in particular, and I think Alexander did a great job at capturing these emotions.
It’s melodies are beautifully written. They capture the emotions of the movie perfectly.
From the first note, Alexandre Desplat’s breathtakingly beautiful score sets the musical tone for the entire movie. Desplat conducts the London Symphony Orchestra with a passion Carter Burwell lacked in “Twilight.” Swirling strings and mournful brass pull the emotion from each scene with the same melody played at different tempos. When “Edward Leaves,” the slow tempo elicits the sense of longing for a lost love as Bella grieves, yet the same melody played in full soaring orchestration completes their reunion and passion as they once again find their soul mates. In particular, this score is reminiscent of the old Hollywood scores of yesteryear, when the music was as much a part of the film as the dialog and cinematography. The main theme, “The Meadow,” which also appears as a piano solo by Desplat on the soundtrack, is a hauntingly beautiful melody which plays throughout this film. Much like John William’s “Imperial March,” Desplat has created a “Volturi Waltz” which may sound playful at the get-go, but turns into a bleak, sinister and diabolical underscoring for the reunion between Bella and Edward. “The Dreamcatcher” gives Jacob his theme, and the listener is captured in the emotions of a best friend. This score is most worthy of receiving an Oscar nomination, and a win in the “Best Original Score” category in the spring of 2010.

The score is really unique. The score sets the tone of the emotion in the movie. It also is right for the movie.
I love the grand scope of the score and its various themes, which are romantic and strong. Very memorable. Thank you!
I love the emotion that this score captures. You are able to feel what each of the characters are feeling. An example of this is when Edward and Bella are back together in Italy and the music swells with a crescendo. The whole time I was watching the movie, I was in amazement on how emotional the music made the movie! Love the score!
I love the subtle tone of this score. It doesn’t distract from the rest of the movie, but just adds that feel of lifeless hopelessness that New Moon has.
I love the score…..
Every time i listen to it, i get the feeling of excitement and i remember when it is used in the movie. Alexandre Desplat did an awesome job getting the feeling from the movie and transposing it into beautiful music. I even cried a little when i heard some of the songs.

The score to New Moon evokes such amazing emotions. It crosses the planes of happy to sad to desperation to despair and much more. It makes the movie such an experience. You actually feel the emotions of Edward, Bella and Jacob throughout the movie thanks to this amazing score. It’s quite haunting at times and really puts you into the movie emotionally. Marry Me, Bella is perfect and my favorite track. It is such a beautiful piece of music.
how is it possible to pick one thing that i like best??? the whole cd is amazing. it is because of the twilight and new moon scores that i started enjoying plain music, no words. i fall asleep to this every night. alexandre desplat is an amazingly gifted composer and he should DEFINATLY do the eclipse score!!!
I love how seamlessly the music blends in with the rest of the movie. The score isn’t jarring. It keeps you in the moment, and lightly reflects and enhances the mood or action of the scene. And I mean come on, those sweeping tracks are enough to get anyone caught up in the romance of the scene (the “Romeo and Juliet” or “Marry Me, Bella” tracks comes to mind).
We all know the movie has excellent music, and the score is just beautiful. What I love most, is that it encompasses the wide range of emotion so well. True love, blood lust, despair, fear, happiness…all were enhanced by Alexandre Desplat’s score. His music is just beautiful.
New Moon is a visually stunning movie with equally beautiful music. What I love the most about the Alexandre Desplat’s score is the way it enhances the wide range of emotion in the film; true love, blood lust, despair, happines…and each emotion brought alive with the music. His music is just beautiful. Lovely.
I have only heard the Meadow but I think it conveys her longing for Edward perfectly. I think the scores would be wonderful to listen to when relaxing. That is what I love about the score … It conveys all the feelings of the movie and the books.
I love how Alexandre Desplant made the music go so well with the scenes with the movie. It painted so well with the characters also
I liked that his music sounded magical and otherworldly. It wasn’t run of the mill behind the scenes…it was another voice, another character. The movie would not have been the same without it.
Reading New Moon was very difficult in the beginning since it was so depressing. Every time I read it (which is probably around 10x now), I became a little more comfortable with all the depression. I thought when the movie came out it was going to be hard to really feel it but the music just pulled the feelings into it more. The score was beautiful and really captured the feelings of the characters how they were written in the book.
This score is pure awesomeness. I love listening to a good film score and Alexandre Desplats does not disappoint with this musical score. I love the Volturi Waltz because its is beautiful to listen to and it draws you into the scenes but at the same time it evokes and eerie feeling that gives me chills.
Basically, I would love it! I think it’s the perfect thing to have on while reading the book or even just to chill out. So much thought is put into it and it follows the emotions!
I loved the score this time around!
Desplat’s works really captured the feeling of the scene, and fit in so well. He and Weitz make a great pair.
Easy to listen to during writing activities in the classroom! Plus I can smile while I enjoy a Twilight/New Moon fix at work!
I absolutely love the score!! Not only does it fit perfectly with the movie but at times it brings me to tears, especially during the flashback meadow scene! I literally tear up every time because it does a perfect job of portraying Bella’s emotions at that time! Desplat is amazing!
The Score is hauntingly beautiful and beautifully haunting. No other words that mean so much can be expressed. It is simply divine. It reeks pure loveliness.
I love how he sets the mood for New Moon and he follows it and the song the medow is probably the most brilliant song in the world
not familiar w/ Alexandre Desplat but after hearing how well he captured New Moon…I’d love to listen to his other compositions.
I’ve heard parts of the score on iTunes and found it simply amazing. I believe that it complements the scenes in the movie well and gives me goosebumps while listening.
Love the music from the movie. It’s sets a perfect tone.
I loved the score! It was beautiful and haunting all at the same time! I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan of Twilight’s score, so I was really surprised with this one. Thanks!
i thought the score was beautiful, it almost acted as another character – saying what was need to be said without words
I really enjoy the way all the emotion is conveyed. It really gives you a sense of what’s going on even when you aren’t watching the movie. That to me shows real dedication. I don’t think this could have been done better by anyone. I haven’t heard anyone say that they are disappointed with the score and I don’t believe there is anything to be disappointed about. This score is one that the rest are going to have to try to top and that is a very daunting task.
The New Moon score is beautiful. Without the help of Alexandre, It wouldn’t have been as moving, heart renching and attention getting. The Meadow is so beautiful! His musical talent, while being well known in the past, is sure to skyrocket with New Moon. Well done Alexandre!
I was worried that they weren’t using Carter from the twilight movie but I had nothing to worry about Alexandre is a great composer. I love the music thats being played right before Edward asks Bella to marry him.. its so playful and pretty.
i dream about listening to this score forever. enough said. i like this score because its perfect in every single way.
I loved all of it… but especially the music while they were in Volterra- it certainly added drama and suspense.
Well to begin, I really enjoyed the diversity in decibal levels from the score. from there I loved the beautiful crescendo and the rise and fall if emotion. Other then than I thoroughly enjoyed it as a whole: it helped me to connect with the plot and escape the everyday turmoils of life.
Thank you! (I figured I would try since today, the 28th, is my birthday
. )
I love listening to the movie score as I go to sleep. They are my lullabies.
I absolutely love the score to both of the films. They pull you deeper into the film, and fill you into the emotion that you should be feeling with each scene. Whether the music is low and in the background, or is loud during a transition, it pulls you more into the story, the film, and the emotions. I love it.
I really like The Meadow… It’s really the only songs I’ve heard of his work. I’d love to have the soundtrack so that I could listen to more. I can’t seem to find any of the scores in my area and would love to have one for myself.
His music is just so beautiful and added so much to the movie!
Alexandre did an amazing job with the score as he captured the essence of both worlds Bella was in. When imagining Edward you could hear the longing and how much she missed him. Meanwhile for Jacob you’d feel/hear the warmth
and love eminating from him and the rest of the quiluetes. All in all, his melodies brought out the feeling each scene required perfectly.
This score is so beautiful in every way. It really does capture the feel of New Moon. My favorite song on there is “dream catcher.” Not only is it from my favorite scene in the movie but its also so beautiful. Alexandre Desplat did an amazing job and I hope they bring him back for Eclipse.
I live how he expresses the perfect emotions through each piece of music that he has created. Each song is so beautiful.
I love the score as you can listen and relive the scenes from the movie in your head.
I would love to win this for my sister and myself! Movie soundtracks usually get all the attention b/c it has good bands on them but the score makes the movie better! It should be given equal attention!
I thought the score really captured the emotions of the characters and movie – it totally pulls you in. I loved it!
