Comments

  1. Laurii says:

While hearing the score you know which feelings the characters have in these scenes. Furthermore it’s perfect music to hear while reading book because it’s calming. :)

  2. Anne says:

The score perfectly captures the emotions of the story and draws you in. I love the way Edward Leaves and You’re Alive invoke such a personal response to complement these scenes in the movie.

  3. Heather says:

The music is so beautiful. I just love listening to the score as a lullaby or such.

  4. janelene says:

Juz got the CD and have listened to Mr Desplat’s EPIC score countless times…(best heard on headphones, in the car or on a high-end sound system with planar speakers)….whilst replaying the movie’s many great moments in my mind. :)

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!

Now waiting to get my hands on the score music book. :)

  5. Kate says:

New Moon was very emotional and dark, and Alexandre really captured the feelings and scenes with perfection. Especially during the Edward/Bella breakup scene, the music played a huge part in making it very emotional and devastating for Bella.

  6. urcoolcarrie says:

The score has a very dark and deep feeling that totally captures the tone of the whole movie. It was important that they made something that would go along with Bella’s emotional roller coaster, and I think they achieved that brilliantly.

  7. Neha says:

The New Moon soundtrack resonates with the feeling of heartbreak and longing that the book inspired. Alexandre Desplat’s creation stays true to the book and adds more depth and color to the beautiful story. It’s amazing how the music can touch and affect the heart so much. Two thumbs up!

  8. Gina says:

I think the score is much more meaningful than the soundtrack because each “song” relates to the scene and situation unlike the soundtrack. I am much more impressed with this than the soundtrack!

  9. Elva says:

I appreciate how the music helps the audience feel complicated emotions. My personal favorite…Marry Me, Bella.

  10. Tammy says:

I think the score is brilliant!! Thank you for capturing the essence of the book for the big screen!

  11. Freyer Caffarel says:

I think the score is amazing, capturing all the emotions of the actors and the storyline. Incredible. Thanks.

  12. Melinda says:

    The Score Is Pure Brillant!!!!!!!

  13. Caitlin says:

I love how when listening to the score you cn pinpoint where in the movie it took place and you can see the movie in your head.

  14. Julieheartstwilight says:

Alexandre Desplat really understands the pain and angst of the second movie and really involves that into the music.

  15. LilliAnn says:

This score is wonderful! When I listen to a score it is like being at the movie all over again.

  16. MeyaRose says:

I love how there is a theme for Jacob and a theme for Edward, and each is totally unique to that character. In the movie, whenever there is a particularly sweet moment with that character, that character’s theme plays. The name of Edward’s theme in its entirety is “The Meadow” and Jacob’s is “The Dreamcatcher” so they have very fitting names. And I also love how on the track “Marry Me Bella” it starts with Jacob’s theme, and then it gets all sad, and then its Edward’s theme, totally fitting what is going on in the movie.
I’ve only heard it on youtube though, and its been taken down…

  17. Alisa says:

I love how “epic” this score is and the way in which such strong emotions can so easily be communicated through beautiful music. The score so fits and truly enhances the movie itself and takes the viewer to a whole new level of involvement. I love how a moment in the score could easily take you back to that moment in the movie. I think that for me the score also helps to transport me back to the richness of the storyline from the novels too. Overall it’s just awesome and I love it!

  18. Angela Edwards says:

I love how each set of lovers has their own melody and whenever they’re together it plays – helps me connect to the characters and their feelings and why they should be together. Sad but sweet.

  19. Destinytwimom says:

I absolutely love the score music. I’m a twilight mom (on the far right of the picture of the 7 screaming cougars:) and i have 3 kids under 5, so the music is so relaxing…its like escaping to a whole other world (my favorite twilight world)for just a little while :)

  20. Renee Womack says:

What I like about the score is the way my mind forms the scenes from the movie into my memory of that part of the movie. It keeps the movie alive in my head and I can relate it to that particular part in the book as well. The scores are well composed, none are disappointing

  21. Alize says:

I love how the score actully makes you feel again how you felt when you first read the books. You feel the emotions Bella and Edward feel apart, you feel how Jake and Bella come close.Your senses become filled with the emotions and you can visualize the whole movie by just listening to a song!”Break up is my personal favorite because it goes perfectly with all the emotions that weant on in my head when i read the books.

  22. Heather says:

I never paid much attention to scores until this movie. The way that the music flows
perfectly in a scene and in a sense, becomes
a character itself. Altogether the power & passion from the score can overtake your senses & send you to another place, just like the books in the Saga. The score is definitely a beautiful piece of
art which will hopefully be recognized & appreciated how it should be!

  23. liz says:

Alexandre Desplat did an amazing job writing the song for the score. When I’m listening to the score it’s like can feel the intensity and sadness behind what Edward is saying when this it is playing. another thing i I love how Alexandre desplat is when he wrote Edward leaves is when your listening to the score like when edward leaves her you can Bella feel the pain Bella.

  24. Nicole says:

    interesting…

  25. Cynthia says:

I like how the music interacted with this movie because it was so different from the first one. The Score soundtrack was more elegant and so was New Moon, whereas Twilight was more calm and serene. I love this soundtrack because it helps you feel their emotion and whenever I hear the song, I think back to the scene it appeared in, and to me, that is a successful soundtrack. :)

  26. Abby Crager says:

The music becomes a part of the emotions the scenes are creating, taking hold of our feelings and emotions, making it so real to all that are watching and listening. Some other movie scores totally take away or override the scenes, but not Alexandre Desplats music. It is so very good, and an added part of the whole that can NOT be without it.

  27. Ashley says:

Anything I say will probably not be as striking or special than what others have already said. All I can basically tell you is that this score transported me into the movie and the story itself. When reading the book, I felt like an observer to Bella’s story but when watching the movie and listening the score, I was…there. I felt the emotion, the longing, the pain. As embarassing as it may seem, at points, I felt like crying. Though the official soundtrack did its part to contribute to the feeling of the movie, the score, that piece of music that most people seem to overlook when watching the characters play out the story on the big screen, was the principal component to making such a heartwrenching story come to fruition.

  28. Rachel Warnes says:

Pure escapism. Imaginative icing for a soul searching film

  29. Johanna Cook says:

Music is a key to the soul, this score truly unlocked mine, allowing me to really feel the emotions that I thing Stephanie Meyer wanted her readers to feel in New Moon. Well Done!

  30. Jeannie Mineer says:

I love how he captures how dark this book is. He makes us feel the pain that all the characters are going through.

  31. kathylee says:

Absolutely brilliant! The emotions are so strong they draw you in totally and reality is forgotten for a piece of time. I am in awe!

  32. shayda says:

it fit the emotion very well and each song just contributed so much to the movie

  33. Kimberly says:

I love the way the score just so perfectly fits in and captures every moment of the movie…it’s melancholy yet beautiful! Alexandre Desplat captures these emotions perfectly and beautifully!

  34. Annel says:

The music fits really well with the mood of the movie. Alexandre Desplat’s did a fantastic job.

  35. Marisa says:

We often listen to the soundtrack streaming on Napster during the frantic dinner prep hour. It gives me a Twilight fix and has a calming effect on my four kids (ages 8 and under). I feel like I get relaxing ‘me time’ even before the kids go to bed for the night. I would love a copy of my own to listen to in the car for those cranky “are we there yet?” moments!

  36. Niki Lynn says:

Overall, I love the score because it gives a smooth, ethereal feel to the entire movie, even when Bella’s doing the most common and human of actions. My favorite piece is the Volturi Waltz. It’s so elegant, and beautiful, yet has a dark and sinister feel, just like the Volturi.

  37. Lisa G. says:

Alexandre Desplat’s score is haunting and fits the mood of the movie perfectly. I have the soundtrack and New Moon (The Meadow)is one of my favorite tracks.

  38. Lauren says:

The score can take you back to the exact scene it plays so obviously it’s very memorable and each is unique. Captures the emotions so clearly. I have to get my hands on a copy of this!

  39. latuacantante1918 says:

The best song is during the scene when Edward asks Bella to marry him. You can just feel the wonder, hope, uncertainty, anticipation…it makes you feel so many things at one time. This song gets stuck in my head all the time and I love it!

  40. Lauren says:

The score prefectly captures the deep emotions and sence of longing of each character in New Moon. For instance, in the track entited Edward Leaves, there is a breathtaking trumpet solo right after Edward gives his final kiss goodbye that always makes me tear us becuause it is as if the music is crying out for Edward to come back as well. Also, the score really helped everyone to feel the emotions Bella was feeling which we all got reading the book but would obviously have need help feeling in the movie at times. Really and truly a movie depends on its score to make everything come together and I know that the score by Alexandre Desplat did this is a magical way.

  41. Becky says:

it so perfectly captures the emotions of the scenes – it simply puts amazing emphasis on the feelings of the characters!

  42. Jeff D. says:

The score has been beautifully created. It just fits perfectly in with each scene we see on the screen. The composer has captured the feeling and mood of the characters and scenes.

  43. darilyn says:

OK This would be great to actually win on Dec 28th since its my birthday! I would have to say it the whole emotional ride from the beginning to the end. Each score make the next come to life. Edward Leaves- i feel as if life just stopped and nothing seems to revive you. I Need You- just keeps reminding you of that aching inside that just eats away at your heart. Almost a Kiss- That moment when you try to move on, hoping that the pain will suddenly leave but just when you feel the closeness of the others lips, flashes of that one person you can’t let go of appears. Anyhow, the score just blended so well ripping threw the emotions and relighting each deeply hidden desire. Loved it

  44. Sid says:

So I have to comment AGAIN?*

As I’d said in my prior response to this contest, this score really took me by surprise. It was evolving; always in constant motion. Not to bash on the last composer, but his music consisted of just two “themes”: Edward’s and the Nomads. It was nice and edgy, but it was repetitive, and I got exhausted with it eventually.
But with this score, the music made the scene ALIVE. It moved along with the scene, growing and falling with the emotions that were being shown on screen.
What really captivated me about this score was its stark beauty. It was so moving, so palpable, it was like the actual orchestra was there, playing right beside me as I watched the movie. It had a sort of realism, this idea that grows and changes with the scenes, that I thought the last score lacked.
Even with my blatant ignorance about scores, this one really stuck out to me. It completed New Moon, and if I don’t win it here, I can’t wait to go buy it myself.

*Okay, I ended up copy/pasting my last entry…hopefully, that won’t knock me out of this contest. Ha.

I think I should add that I actually play a musical instrument, the viola, and this score has actually made me eager to pick up my viola and see if I could play it–which is something I usually don’t like to do.
Another thing: I watched the movie again the other day, this time playing close attention to the music, and it blew me away, again! It was so alive, so THERE; I highly doubt the scene would’ve moved along without it. It was a part of the movie, and the movie was a part of it. It’d be impossible to not think of the movie when hearing this, or to not see the movie without listening to this.
I give major kudos to Desplat–cheers, my friend!

  45. Katie says:

This score features more string music than Carter Burwell’s. I can’t decide whose score I like better!

  46. Ash says:

I think I’ll agree with the masses when saying that Alexander Desplat evokes true emotion with his music. What unsaid thought, tear, fear is playing through the story line, you can feel when hearing the backround score playing it up. I’d be interesting to play it while rereading New Moon (rather than watching it), just to see how well it plays with the original storyline. It’s definitly a “must have”, and I MUST HAVE IT!

  47. Joelle says:

a good score draws you deeper into the store, not just letting you, but forcing you to feel the emotion – the joy, the pain, the fear, the despair – of the characters you’re watching. this score does exactly that in an incredibly beautiful way. a fantastic addition to any music lovers collection.

  48. Brandy says:

This score is pure genius by Desplat. Each song truly makes you feel the emotion of the scene it represents…it just doesn’t get much better than this!

  49. Kate says:

Alexandre Desplat is an amazing composer. I especially love the music he wrote for New Moon. I could just listen to it over and over again.

  50. Sarah says:

Again I love it because it sounds so epic, old Hollywoodish and that is just so fitting to the movie Chris Weitz made from this screenplay.
