Yeah I kinda agree. Twilight had a special beautiful quality to it, whereas NM seemed so much more commercial and blockbuster... Whilst the keeping to the book was impeccable - I just didn't feel that attachment. My being a fan of the books kept me through it.

The actors were great, loved the Volturi, dialogue was good etc etc, but something pulling it all together just didn't happen for me.

Can't wait for the rest of the movies though :-))

well... i think the movie was OKAY. i mean dont get me wrong i LOVE everything that is TWILIGHT. it couldve been better. the ONLY things i didnt like was the fact that they skipped some parts and changed it little, i know since they only have a limited time for the movie they couldnt add every single detail. I think its just me, though. other than that the movie was amazing. WHY? JACOB BLACK! mmmm.=) but the cullens, volturi, wolfpack, the BAD vampires and the humans (did i forget anyone ?) did a splendid job in the movie as well. my favorite parts where, the part where Bella and Edward are running through the forests (was it a forest?) WHY? it was CUTE, and a first glimpse of Bella as a vampire! golden eyes, pale, marble-like skin, beautiful-ness ! WOAH. huh? and my second favorite part was the ending (MARRY ME.) ahh. just like the book. (except the book doesnt end there, does it?)
THAT was my review. overall, i think the movie was GREAT, but i could've been better, and i think the book was better. (just saying)
I <3 TWILIGHT (NEW MOON, ECLIPSE,AND REAKING DAWN)

I actually really liked the vision, I got annoyed when people bursted out laughing. The one thing that was strange to me about it was the clothing, because I just think Bella's dress should have been different - or actually, Edward's outfit should have been different too. Why were they dressed in old-fashioned clothing?
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the vision, I just need someone to explain the clothes to me.

I completely agree with you. I wish Chris Weitz could redo Twilight. I feel like he would do a better job of getting Bella and Edward's love across. When I saw New Moon, I (a diehard Team Edward) was on the edge of changing teams. And that is because everything about Bella and Jacob's relationship was clear, the chemistry, the loyalty, the friendship - it all worked, it all made sense, it all came across on the screen. As for Bella and Edward, I didn't feel like their relationship came to make sense in Twilight. So, in New Moon, her depression is extreme, and her choosing Edward at the end also is a little.... it just doesn't work as well as in the book.
None of that is Chris Weitz's fault. If the first movie had been as good as this one, or even on the same level as this one, then Bella and Edward's relationship would have worked better.

Yeah, the one and only thing that bothered me in the movie was the underwater scene, when the music comes on as she's floating there to her almost-death with Edward, the song makes it seem a bit cheesy all of a sudden... Definitely could've used a different song there.
But otherwise, luved the music in the movie!! Especially during the chase scene!! That whole sequence blew me away!

Saw it twice so far- Awesome.
Awesome
Awesome
Awesome
Love it!! I actually really appreciate the creativity of this movie, it's just so unique.
The tone is just right, characters were great, and I am totally impressed with how much they were able to include from the book! Alot more than I expected... And all my fave parts, too! But it was also like experiencing the story for the first time. I laughed, cried, the whole thing.
And, I love Taylor!!!! He is the perfect Jacob!!!

I completely enjoyed NM - saw it twice this weekend. That's saying a lot since I have a young child at home (Seriously, haven't seen a movie in the theater in forever!)

I was amazed by the cliff-diving/Victoria-chase scene, which I haven't seen mentioned in many reviews. The music seemed to capture the moment perfectly. Frenetic and building, yet still slightly depressed. This part of the story worked so much better for me on film than it did on paper because it could all happen simultaneously instead of piece-meal. And the small smile KS gave before she jumped - perfect!

There weren't really any parts of NM where I felt like "That totally wouldn't happen in the book." I had that problem a lot with Twilight. I applaud the direction, editing (no moving oxygen tubes in this one), and especially the cinematography. Some scenes felt so perfectly framed. And to me, all of the acting improved considerably since the last movie. KS seemed more "settled" into the personality of Bella and I was very impressed with TL. RP finally got to show a little more emotion and depth, too - thank grace!

Honestly, I was Team Edward after the books. Then this movie made me Team Jacob. So now I am residing in Switzerland - and it's very confusing. June seems a long way away - hurray for Eclipse!

I'm not going to make fans by saying this but here's my opinion about the movie:
I'm an avid fan of the books and was dying to see this movie. I cannot believe how much is taken away from the characters just by watching these movies. In my OPINION, both main characters (Rob/Kristen) shallow down everything Edward and Bella stand for. It isn't romantic to me. It's corny, staged and puke-inducing. Very unlike the connections in the books where they are playful and sweet.
I can't picture Kristen as Bella and I can't picture Rob as Edward. And when I read the books and one of their faces pop into my mind it makes me want to throw the book across the room.
Where is Bella's wit and clumsy charm? Where is Edward's turn of the century speech patterns and playful teasing? Better yet, where is Edward's out of this world good looks? I know it's a personal opinion, but Rob doesn't look a thing like I would have pictured for Edward.
Even Jacob was a letdown. Don't get me wrong, I love Taylor's abs just as much as the next girl, but the way to movie was written lacked some of my favorite Jacob qualities. I expect Jacob to make me laugh out loud and he just didn't. His muscles were a little more than distracting I think. I hate to say that because I do love Taylor. He's a sweetheart.
And the scenes were so jumpy. They were here one minute and there the next without much lead in. I don't know how people who haven't read the book could watch this movie.
Sorry for being a downer, I really am. I'm just so utterly disappointed by the movies when the books deserve something so much better.
The other people in the theater agreed with me. There was a chorus of boos when it was over.
Positive: I liked Jasper, Emmett, Aro and Marcus.

First I want to say that this film was ten times better than Twilight. The acting, directing, lighting, colors, textures were a thousand times better. I think I would have enjoyed this movie more if I didn't have my husband to the right of me and a strangers husband to the left of me. Both cringing in their seats, making comments etc.

I think the main problem with the films is the writing. I know Stephanie is not a screenwriter, but I think that she should have written the screenplay. Some of the lines were so lame, like when Bella said to Emmett, don't hate the truck. I hated that.

Chris did a much better job and stayed as true to the book as he could. However, I feel like the movie didn't flow. It was like he took each chapter and took a snipet from each one. There were so many things I wanted in the movie that were not.

The acting was ok. I would say that Taylor and Billy Burke gave true performances. Kristen was ok, but she has the mannerisms that annoy the crap out of me. Peter Facinelli was amazing also. Kellan Lutz, was such a putz in this movie and I still can't get over the casting of Nikki Reed. She does not embody the essence of Rosalie, nor the beauty.

All in all it was a decent film. I am hoping that David Slade brings it because Eclipse is my favorite book.

I also loved the Shakespeare Edwards reading of Romeo's lines. The reading forshadowed Bella's almost death and Edward's attempt at suicide by Volturi.
