Tim Burton would be awesome to have as the director! I’m for it!

    • Rosalie's Pain says:

Why is there so many people who oppose Catherine? I think she did a phenomenal job with Twilight. I honest to God was not a fan until this past July. I rented Twilight out of the dollar red box movie rentals. I fell in love with the movie! I thought the acting was great as well. I don’t know why everyone is saying taht she did such a bad job with the movie. If it had been such a bad movie, it would have never made the amount of money it did. Word of mouth would have gotten around that the movie sucked. I never heard anything bad about it. My only regret is that I did not see it in the theaters. I wish Catharine could have done the entire series. As far as people criticizing the special effect on Twilight, don’t forget that the movie had a modest budget. Thanks to this movie, I bought all 4 books and read them all in 7 days.

  • Sia says:

Tim Burton would do a weird good job but DON’T MESS WITH OUR BOOKS even if you didn’t like it.

  • Pinky says:

    Ummm,. I dont think so!!

  • Donna says:

Nope…his style is NOT what we want for the Twilight Saga.

    • Meemomoo says:

I think his style would be a leap in a different direction from what Catherine, Chris, and David are probably doing. As much as I love him I think he’s too far out there for my Twilight

  • Avery says:

I don’t think Tim Burton would work at all for Breaking Dawn.

  • kehacakes says:

I love Tim Burton, but I hope he stays the heck away from Breaking Dawn! lol Jamie looks cute in this interview.

  • laces says:

The only person that would be worse for Breaking Dawn than Tim Burton would be Quentin Tarantino.

    • ilu_una says:

I don’t know about that… have you see From Dusk Til Dawn? >____> heh heh heh.

    • jessica says:

Lol!! I would like Tim Burton to stay faaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr away from Breaking Dawn unless he just goes to see it when it’s in the theatres. Yeah no, no Tim. Like ya stuff but no

    • Sylvia says:

HAAAAAHAHAHAHA! It’s so hilarious that you mentioned those two, in that order, because if I’ve said before to my friends that I would be ECSTATIC if EITHER of those directors did Breaking Dawn! Like, I would be the HAPPIEST person on earth!!! Lol I laugh because I know it’s so twisted and so not where this series is going but I am also twisted and I cannot explain the joy in my soul when I let myself imagine the pieces of art those two would create with that story. But it would never ever happen, I’m aware. Oh, but a girl can dream. <3

  • Dallas Hall says:

NOOOO!!! Jamie No! Just because you worked with the guy on Sweeney Todd does not mean he can have our Breaking Dawn!

    • Mel says:

He was just joking. He picked the director that would be the worst for the movie. He knows that it wouldn’t work that’s why he said he’d “screw around with it”.

People need to take Jamie’s comments with a grain of salt. He doesn’t mean a lot of what he says.

  • MRK says:

    Oh plz no! Not Tim!!!

  • K says:

    He’s kidding, right?

  • Marion says:

I love Tim Burton’s work and I consider myself a student of his,but I don’t think he would be the right choice for Breaking Dawn. I would hope Chris Weitz would return to the directing chair,if he doesn’t have another project lined up. That’s a shame we already want Chris back and we haven’t even seen the final cut of New Moon. I guess based on what we’ve seen so far,we’re impressed with what he’s done with the second novel, that he seems the only ideal choice at the moment.

    • Mel says:

Yeah, I’m hoping Chris will return too. The only reason they keep changing directors is so that one can be finishing post production while the other starts on pre-production. So Chris would be able to start Breaking Dawn while David Slade finished Eclipse.

I think whoever they pick they will give more thought to than when they did Twilight. Especially considering how many times Chris has mentioned the limitations that were set by the choices made by Catherine (like leaving out storylines).

    • safina says:

I also wish Chris Weitz would return for Breaking Dawn. It seems so funny now that we want him to return because when Catherine was replaced, we were all so angry and didn’t trust Chris one bit. Chris even had to convince us by a confirmation from Stephenie that he wouldn’t ruin New Moon and would try to do his best. I feel so bad about that now.

  • Cam says:

Dude I think it would be awesome. Think Sleepy Hollow.

    • jessica says:

      uh hell to the no

      • Anna says:

What’s with all of the immature comments? I think that Sleepy Hollow has a really cool vibe to it that could be used in the final film. Think of the crazy tree that the headless horseman came out of…it’s kind of applicable to Bella’s womb… The whole plot of Breaking Dawn is pretty strange as it is, so why not go off the deep end? Not to mention the whole birth scene is pretty graphic, and I think it would be awesome to watch Tim Burton do that scene in particular…think Sweeney Todd……

        :]

  • Rosalie's Pain says:

Oh No! Not Tim Burton for Twilight. You can always tell when a film is directed by Tim Burton. I hope that Catherine takes the reins for Breaking Dawn. I think she can do a good job at it and would be great for the book of Jacob. All the teen angst that goes in the pack would be beautifully translated to the big screen by Catherine. And I agree Quentin Tarantino would be horrible. LOL. I can already see the movie starting with The Volturi arriving at Forks with a present for the bride(because Bella already got married). Cut to Irina seeing the immortal child and the whole chaos breaking loss. It would be a funny movie.

    • Missy B says:

Catherine?! No way! Look how much BETTER New Moon looks, even just from the trailers, than Twilight does for the entire movie. She wasn’t the right fot for Twilight either!

What about Guillermo del Toro?? “Pan’s Labrynth” was amazing.

Well why don’t we all look at the HP movies and see who did the best job thus far. That’ll be a good selection to choose from!

      • silver-swallow says:

ugh, completely agree. if im honest with myself, i thought the first movie was actually one hell of a failure. think acting and special effects… neither were near up to scratch. and they have subtly admitted this once or twice themselves, both cast and crew. To be honest, i dont think she is capable of making much more than small indie films. lovely, sweet woman, but out of all the professional directors out there… she would robably be the one id least prefer.

      • silver-swallow says:

definately not. he cannot fit the style at all.

        BAZ LUHERMAN would be incredible.

think of the love films he has created, moulin rouge, romeo and juliet, australia…

        • Mel says:

I don’t know about that. As an Aussie I adore Baz’s work, but like Tim Burton he also has a certain way of doing his movies. Baz is about quick cuts and over theatrical acting.

I own all of his movies, but I don’t know that he could rein himself in enough to do Breaking Dawn. However, I would have loved to have seen what his wife Catherine could have done with the costumes (the can can dresses from Moulin Rouge were incredible).

        • Sylvia says:

Love this idea! Although everything Burton touches turns to gold, and I would LOVE to see him direct Breaking Dawn, realistically his style is too grand and surreal to fit the tone of the saga, and it certainly would look nothing like the rest of the films. Baz Luhrman would be a better fit, still epic and beautiful but a little more human, I think.

      • Marianne says:

Mike Newell did HP’s Goblet of Fire and I thought out of all of the HP films his was the best.
My first choice would be both Chris W and his brother co-directing. Mike Newell would be a good choice too.

      • jessica says:

I really loved the first movie. Honestly I’m one of the rare ones on this site that saw the movie b4 i read the books. The movie just made me hella curious about the books so if the movie had been different then I wouldn’t be a Twilight fanatic.

      • K says:

        totally agree, no catherine

  • Hannah says:

I believe I’m in the minority here but I think he’ be awesome. Breaking Dawn is pretty insane as it is, why not go the whole way? Unfortunately, I don’t think Tim Burton would want to touch BD with a ten foot barge-pole.

  • seriouslysirius says:

I think that Tim Burton is one of the best directors out there but I doubt that Twilight is his style. He often goes for the gothic yet beautiful storylines and Breaking Dawn is really not in that category. Besides although I love the books and movies I doubt that Breaking Dawn would be a good movie, it´s structure is not very movie friendly because of the different pov´s. But also the story is kind of oddly structured there is no real climax in the story which is kind of odd. It´s just my opinion.

  • karen says:

nope nope not Tim..BD is not a morbid movie to begin with..i like his works but he doesnt fit it..uhm uhm uhm..i want to see eclipse first beofre i choose wh would direct it :) but if they three can make it, why not! :) afterall, BD has intensity transition growing from twilight-eclipse :) let’s see

  • matty says:

i love Tim Burton…but def not for Breaking Dawn.

  • Beth says:

I personally don’t think he would be the best choice but hey, who knows! Just keep in mind that he would probably want have Johnny Depp and his wife cast in the movie! lol

    • Sylvia says:

Haha let’s see… Helena would play Irina and Johnny could be… Garett, maybe? Vladimir or Stefan? Nahuel? Man, he could pull off any role on the planet, he could play Renesmee and it’d still be amazing! :p

  • claire says:

i’m glad he knows the fans wouldn’t be happy because if anyone actually thought of him as a legitamte option, i think i would cry

  • Debra says:

Definitely yeah! It would bring a whole new perspective! It would be a masterpiece with him in! Just imagine Renesmee through his PoV…

    • kirra1990 says:

omg, you are a genius! im obsesessed with his movies and that didn’t even occur to me. though, 1) i don’t think he would do it because its not really his type of movie and 2) he’s got a BUNCH of projects lined up the 2 hobbit movies that he has a big part in.

so i would love to see him to BD but i think we are just dreaming imagining him as director. it would be amazing though….*SIGH*

    • Luthien says:

I’m with you 200 percent! No one can put ‘heart’ into a film like PJ! He’d reduce us all to tears. But I’m absolutely certain 1) he’s way too busy, what with The Lovely Bones coming out, and with The Hobbit on the burner, and 2) he’s way too expensive for Summit to be able to afford.

  • chetzyl says:

no please no, i mean he´s a great director but we dont want to watch the entire cullen family singing on the woods with the werewolves!!!

  • Valery says:

I like Tim Burton but no way! for BD no!!
his style is completely different from the twilight saga

  • brianna says:

    Guillermo Del Toro!!

    • Missy B says:

lol! I thought of him too! :D

    • Missy B says:

I love me some TB too, but I agree – not a good fit. “Alice” looks darker than I thought the story seems to be even though I’ve never read the book.

And really think about Johhny Depp making his way in if it were done by TB – I’d rather have him as my fav rum-sucker and not a blood-sucker ;)

      • papermoon says:

read the book. the story *is* dark– and great.

with that said- TB’s Alice movie is more of a ‘return to wonderland’ thing, but i bet it will still be closer to the stories than disney’s version (which i still like).

    • Sylvia says:

YES! Oh yes yes yes, I thought of him too! He’d be incredible, think of Pan’s Labyrinth, the visuals and the emotional tone. Yes, he would fit and it would be perfect for the story.

  • Roseanne says:

why are we discussing this…Tim just isnt a name you associate with twilight…leave it like that…

  • rayapooh says:

HELL YEA!!! My favorite director for my favorite series. Ugh please let this happen.

  • Nicole says:

NO TIM BURTON! He is great, but NOT a good fit for BD. Yikes! :)

  • urcoolcarrie says:

um…NO! love tim, but i would NOT like him to do breaking dawn. i can only IMAGINE what his crazy mind would do to it. *shudders*

  • Isiah says:

It should be Guillermo del Toro. Director of pan’s labyrinth.

  • poltergeist says:

    NOT CHRIS WEITZ!

  • Debra Conway says:

My wish is for Breaking Dawn to be divided into two movies, the first until Renesmae is born and then the second begins when Bella wakes up as a vampire (and including the Volturi). The book would be expensive as hell as one movie. Just saying’ then two more directors!

    DC

  • Jess says:

    L.M.F.A.O.
um, no. breaking dawn doesnt deserve tim burton, and tim burton sure as hell wouldnt do a project like breaking dawn.

  • Melanie says:

Woah! That would be weird. I think Burton tends to stick to stuff that’s more far out than the Twilight books. Love his movies, but I think it would just be…really weird to see Breaking Dawn directed by him…

  • Jadar says:

I avoid Tim Burton movies like the plague. Not my style at all :/

  • AliceKikiCullen says:

Mike Newell!!!??? I am sorry but that man RUINED Goblet of fire NO WAY I DON”T WANT THAT MAN ANYY WHERE NEAR TWILIGHT!!! THat was a HORRIBLE JOB WORSE OF THE HP MOVIES!!! NO NO NOOO!!! *cough* sorry, my HP side took over for a sec and as to Tim…I dunno…I think he would do a good job. I can’t say totally for sure but my first thought is Heck yeah! Eh, wait and see what happens. Though I love Cathrine and Twilight, it wasn’t all it could of been and I really would like someone else. I agree also that Breaking Dawn would be good to be done in 2 parts to give it enough time to be good.

  • 08ertwilighter says:

i love how there are a ton of comments on here, and most of you are basically saying the same thing. i don’t have any other director suggestions, but if they did split breaking dawn into two, i figure the last shot of part one could be either: bella screaming her head off right before they go deliver nessie, or edward plunging the syringe into bella’s heart when they start the vamp transformation…

  • Megan says:

Ok. I think this is just another one of Jamie’s comments that he says but he doesn’t mean. Does no one remember the whole upset over the supposed “nude” scene? That said, The overwhelming majority of fans would hate it if Tim Burton directed Breaking Dawn. He needs to stay far far faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from it. He would totally RUIN it. He’s a director of strange, thinking-outside-the-box films. A good director, but totally wrong for Breaking Dawn.

  • Nikki says:

Tim Burton is awesome, and I love his movies, but I don’t think he’d be a good choice for Breaking Dawn. I hope Jamie was joking.

  • I love Tim Burton because he is so original, but the last thing I would want in a director making an adaptation of a book is someone original. He would change it way too much and I wouldn’t be happy. It’s a cool thought, but he would completely ruin it.

  • Jamie says:

When he suggested that – I instantly imagined Renesemee as a white baby skeleton. Guh! haha I think he’s right.. the fans are not fans of that.

  • Deb says:

Yikes, that would be HORRIBLE! Tim Burton’s stuff is too “weird” for Breaking Dawn and I do NOT want Rob replaced with Jack Sparrow.

  • Eclisse says:

Bring on Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly), Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement), or OMG Clint Eastwood would be AWESOME, lol.

  • Carmen says:

hahaha I think it would be awesome if Tim Burton did Breaking Dawn.
Come on twifans, have some fun. It all started with the books, now these are just the movies.

  • Cendrillon says:

Actually, Tim Burton might do a fair job with it. He actually does the mix of romance and fantasy fairly well – Edward Scissorhands was really a romance. And look at Big Fish if you’re looking for a romantic fantasy without the dark parts. Yes, many of his movies have macabre humor, but Breaking Dawn is macabre. Hello?! The heroine actually drinks blood BEFORE becoming a vampire. Tim Burton can make things beautiful – imagine the way he would make the forest look with Bella’s new vision? And I bet their cottage would look like it was just out of a fairytale.

  • Cendrillon says:

Forgot to mention also that Burton’s adaptations of literary works are usually much closer to the source than their predecessors (such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the upcoming Alice in Wonderland). He added a little bit of backstory to the Willy Wonka character in Charlie, but overall the movie was much closer to the book than the previous movie.

  • sab says:

    is this video on youtube?
im in Canada and says it cant play this video in my region :(

im a HUGE tim burton fan so i REALLY wanna hear what he says!!!!

    please anyone???

  • papermoon says:

i think tim burton would give an excellent direction for breaking dawn. he has a way of making reality look different- which i think would help after bella’s transformation. it would be neat to see the world thru her eyes rather than ours.

  • Lilly says:

I love Tim Burton just not for Twilight movies :)
