Even though he is known for his biographical roles, such as Tony Blair or David Frost, Michael Sheen has also taken on some supernatural roles in the Underworld series. But now he’s the ever frightening Aro in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and he talks about it with USA Today.
After he read the first two books himself, Sheen realized why the literary phenom causes teen girls to swoon. “What it has tapped into, at least in the first book, is how it feels to fall in love for the first time. I don’t think you have to be a girl to relate to that.
“The second book captures the utter desolation of losing that first love. I went through that myself, and Stephenie Meyer invokes that brilliantly.”

I couldn’t agree with you more! I think Michael Sheen is nothing short of brilliant. I love the intensity and authenticity he brings to each of his roles. He makes you believe. I can’t wait to see what he brings to Aro.

it’s nice to know that someone of is stature appreciates the books. they’ve taken some hits, even from some of the main actors in the beginning. I’ve never understood that, the books are fantastic and it’s nice to see that Michael Sheen gets that. He has always been one of my favorite actors. When he signed on for New Moon it was the first time I felt hope for the film.

I think he explained it perfectly. 12 years on I was still pining for my Edward, even though I married my Jacob (my Edward ended up dying so that made it worse). I thought I was never going to be ok until I read New Moon. She explained the desolation perfectly and somehow reading about Bella’s pain managed to fix me. It’s nice to no longer feel like that run down house with the one good room.
