New Moon is in this month’s Empire magazine:
“You’ve got the werewolves coming in,” said Weitz, “and the effects are going to be great on that part of the movie. Also, there’s more fighting and that should appeal to the boys. There is also a male character, Jacob, who is inherently a more viable character for most boys because he’s like an ordinary guy. He works on cars, whereas Edward is a perfect man, and maybe he only appeals to perfect men. That makes the demographic rather small! So there’s more of a way into this one – we do hope to up the male demographic!”

“Twilight” for girls is like “Jennifer’s Body” for guys. We wont have an absolute NEED to see this movie, but we’ll eventually will come around to it. Most girls see the Twilight movie for both the storyline and the ton of hunks. Guys will basically see Jennifers Body for Megan Fox.
I’m not 100% sure that Jennifer’s Body is the best comparison movie. From what I heard the movie totally sucked and bombed.
I meant, No matter what, most guys are going to see Jennifer’s Body, regardless of how well it does. But, guys won’t necessarily see New Moon because nothing interests them enough to see it right away, unlike us girls.
This continuous referral that addresses Edward as a “perfect man” is absolutely ludicrous. Time and time again the opposite is proven true. And it completely annoys me when ever I read such statements, and now to see it written right from Chris Weitz’s mouth in that context just . . . ugh!!! Unbelievably frustrating.
Besides, Jacob might engage in more contemporary behaviors and hobbies, but by no means does that make him an “ordinary guy” . . . and technically, he isn’t really human–in the technical sense, obviously ^__^
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I totally agree.
Edward is not perfect. The proof is New Moon itself. He messed up there and then again in Breaking Dawn.
The guys I know have problems processig the sparkling thing than considering his personality.
If only they cared about uping the female audience appeal in any movie. But who cares if men and boys want to watch the Twilight saga. I mean do you really want to see this movie with a guy or enjoy the hell out of it with your girlfriends? I already have tickets to see it with 5 girlfriends at the over 21 theater where you can buy dinner and pitchers of mixed drinks for $20.
