Vampires have definitely used water to travel in the books. We don't know exactly the route the newborns took to Forks, but we do know that Victoria has used the water to her advantage before. Edward also mentions that Carlisle went by water to get to France. Since they don't need to breathe, it seems like a pretty good way for them to travel. I'm not sure why people are saying that going into the water is a zombie thing... I guess maybe I haven't watched enough zombie movies, lol! :D Good point! The books are from Bella's point of view, the movies need to show the things that in the book Bella and everyone else could only speculate. He has full creative license to show the things beyond Bella's POV because there is very little to go on in the books. As long as (which I'm sure is the case) he works with Stehpenie I'm sure it will be awesome. I'm a little confused by some of the comments that seem to say that the books/movies are ONLY about Bella and Edward. Maybe it's just me, but it's all the other things, the outside forces that shape and/or direct the course of their relationship. I don't know.......
